I can only travel to tattooine, lok, naboo, or corelia. How am I supposed to get my tie fighter to yavin 4 to run the missions there?

Go up to aticke terminal, open up the travel selection thingy, then hit ESC to get out of that window. Now when you go the the spaceship terminal the options that were available at the ticket terminal are there

Yes.

Also try getting a ship that has hyperdrive ( Lady Luck and all player built ships have hyperdrive ) and hit H when you're in space.
