Thread: Solution to the current master mission that will satisfy both pvp/non pvp'ers. UPDATED! v1.1

I just thought of a nice solution that should satisfy both sides of the arguement.

For pvp: 1st mission - Kill 20 player characters in the kessel zone. This mission is everlasting and you wont fail if you get blown up. And you cant kill the same person more then once per day (kinda like how the pvp ranking system works). This would at least encourage more players to go out and pvp and they dont have to start over if they failed the mission. And they would have to add the 1 minute safety when you hyper in to kessel so you wont get ganked by greifers. Also to encourage a solo play, the person who does the most damage to the target gets the kill. This will prevent huge gank squads.

Later on completion you will recieve your ace jacket and so on.

for PvE: 2nd mission - In an instanced zone of kessel, locate a corellian corvette and destroy it. If you die here then your mission fails like normal. Same as the master mission, only in an instanced zone for you and your groupmates can enter.

The way this system works, will encourage more non pvp'ers to pvp when theres less risk/reward. And they need to make no ship/component decay upon pvp death. This way all you pvp masters will have fun still in kessel fighting off the ppl who want to earn that master title.

Also fighting pve AND pvp should truly make you an ace of your profession. You will have experience fighting off both players and strong npcs. I would agree that SOME pvp is needed for master, but it shouldnt lead to greifing like in its current system.

~~~Another solution~~~
Since many of you do not want to be forced into a pvp environment, perhaps you can have a choice between a pvp or pve mission.
PvP mission: For those that want to be proven worthy of the ace title. They must seek out and eliminate 30 ace pilots in the kessel system. The mission is everlasting and will not fail. Only killing ace pilots or tier 4 pilots will count towards your kill point. LIke the old system, you cant kill the same person twice in one day and be rewarded with the point. highest damage gets the kill and 1 minute safety once hypering in. And these pilots MUST be of the oppisite faction or points will not be awarded. Neutrals should get a choice of either faction to kill.
PvE mission: (imperial) In an instanced area of Kessel. Defend an Imperial Star Destroyerfrom massive rebel attack for30 minutes. This ISD is carrying secret plans of the constructionof the nextDeath Star. TheRebels have a suspiscion of this ISD and will attempt toboard the ship and steal the information.Massive waves of rebel groups will hyper in and attempt to disable the ISD. If the person holding the mission dies, the mission fails. If the person is unable to defend the ISD it gets boarded, the mission fails.
I try to develop a storyline to these missions, so it doesnt seem like mindless killing. This one is the imperial one, the rebel one is as follows....
PvE Mission: (rebel) Like the Imperial mission, it will be in an instanced part of Kessel. This time, a rebel Corellian corvette obtained some information about a secret location of an imperial construction yard that may be building the next Death Star. Bring this data safely into Rebel hands and do not let the ship be destroyed. you will be the escort for the ship as it makes its way through several imperial attacks. If the mission holder or the corvette gets destroyed, the mission fails.
PvE Mission: (Freelance) The Hutts or black sun, want to get even with their competitors. Travel to a location where a corellian corvette is carrying a huge amount of smuggling goods and eliminate it. Because of its cargo, this will be guarded by several tier 4-5 ships. Mission fails if the mission holder is destroyed.
These missions will be very difficult to complete because they only involve one mission. Once you complete any one of these, you will be rewarded with the ace pilot helmet/jacket and promoted to ace pilot.
[Edit] Silly me, I forgot to add a PvE mission for freelance pilots, there ya go and I apoligize in advance
List of ideas by players:
JimerLins: Perhaps you can be awarded with a special badge or extra reward for completing both pvp and pve missions. Maybe a badge: ...Has proven to be an exceptional pilot ace, has overcome extreme obstacles set forth to him. Or maybe a full suit for pilot ace's doing both pvp and pve missions.
This isn't a bad idea. I'd add one caveat to it- you have to do both to get the "Ace" title, just not at the same time and in whichever order you like. The idea of having to whack some players in PvP to prove yourself isn't necessarily out to lunch, as long as you don't have to do it all at once and you can't "grind" it with a friend that just lets you kill him over and over.
I think the biggest problem people are having right now is that they have to PvP while trying to focus on a pretty tough PvE mission, which isn't much fun. I think even a hardcore PvPer would get a little irked at having to fend off players in order to finish a sustained, high-level PvE mission.
Good idea. I would say that for the PvP kill to count, the pilot killed also has to have completed all Tier 3 missions. Otherwise, you'll get people jumping unsuspecting Tier 1s. Also, each player killed counts only once, period. Otherwise, I could just get a few guildies to help me get it...
That sounds not bad.
But I guess they fear the exploiting of the first mission. At least you can't prove that he killed not friends just for the count.
Ah yes, that would be a problem, perhaps adding a -1 kill count for every death you sustain from pvp would prevent the exploiting also a good idea would be to add tier 3 or above for points would work so the new guys wont get ganked to death.
I feel for you, really I do. I had been forced into pvp so many times on the ground i almost felt like quitting. Im thinking of ideas here, cant please everyone here though
k, fair enough..
When your ready for your master mission the trainer gives you 2 choices, 1- go to kessel(pvp option leave as is)
or option 2, go to endor(or another PVE sector) and stop rebel gunboat with escorts that may or may not have "secret" imperial plans..that may be quite detrimental to the empire if they fall into rebel hands.
I agree with that, even tho the proposed solution could be cool... for now...
also dont't let masters go into kessel (or make a "master version") so 4444 pilots will fight each other, will make it hella fun.
