Thread: JtL HUD needs some work.

I've played a good bit of JtL now and it's clear to me that there are some particular HUD annoyances. These aren't bugs, they're just things that should be fixed.

First of all, the targeting redicle is too big. No, not the green center. I'm talking about the throttle and laser power meters. These are too large and often get in the way when I'm trying to concentrate on seeing...well anything in space. This can be fixed in a number of ways:

1) Make it more translucent or allows players the option of making it more translucent.

2) Make both meters much smaller.

3) Give use the option to move them around the HUD like everything else.

Also, there is some more important information I'd like to see easier. It's your current target's shields and armor. Instead of me having to look all the way up in the top-right to see it, we need some sort of indicator on the targeting brackets that appear around enemies. They'd work the same way as the HAM bars on the ground. Again, this could be an OPTION so that players who don't want it can just turn it off.

Thirdly, when I'm in a group, I don't need brackets and a name around my ship. I know which ship I'm flying...

And last but not least, It'd be niceto have seperate HUD colors for ground and space. There are some colors that look GREAT in space but look awful on the ground...and vice versa.

I'm a very visual thinker and I love to design interfaces. If you're using a mouse to fly and are fighting enemy ships on a mission...the center of your screen can get pretty cluttered with all the icons, indicators, arrows, numbers, and targeting brackets on-screen. We have tons of HUD options for the ground game, but not enough for space.

Then again, I suppose there are more pressing issues at hand. And I'd much rather see game balances and broken missions fixed before this. But, still, it's something the devs should consider.

Thanks, and happy flying.
