Thread: Tie Advanced is superior to Tie Opressor in PvP

Althought the Tie Opressor is still good for PvE, generally the Advanced is far superior. Its very agile, and still has two weapon mounts. In comparison the Opressor is very slugish on the turning, and you can easily be outflown by an X-Wing or A-Wing.

Anyone disagree?

just made master today, using the advanced.

my ships will be, for sure

advanced and decimator

oppressor is pointless for pvp and only cool for big NPC pve, I prefer the advanced, by far.

and decimator... can't even describe the cool factor out of that thing, only the fact that it needs a crew of 5 pilots (at least 2 masters, for pilot/copilot) worth gold for me, I can build a crew and help in kessel corvette missions, can be repaired in flight by a tech player, 2 turrets, missiles, that thing is the best an imp pilot can dream of, even better than what I thought

The TIE Advanced is the dogfighter of choice for the Imperial Pilot endgame. It's fast, it's agile, and it can hold decent armament. Only use I have for my Oppressor is as a heavy gunboat for Corvette-type missions; PvP is very much based on whomever can land the first blow, and you simply can't do that very well when you're turning like a pregnant whale. Only way you'll win a PvP fight in an Oppressor is if your opponent is silly enough to directly charge nice and slowly at you, giving you the opportunity tofire away and drop missileson them.

As for the people mentioning the Decimator in the same thread as involving PvP, I laugh. Multi-player ships at this point really have no place in PvP. They die just as fast as everything else versus another player (see thread started by EliteBlast in this forum; I was the wench that turned his fully decked-out Nova into a cloud of debris with two volleys). It's a great ship to show off you're a master in, and can be useful PvE, but no amount of quick repair capability can help it when dealing with the amount of damage PvP pushes out.

I totally agree. Advanced all the way.

I believe they will work on tweaking it out more. Ships such as the Decimatorshould be given shields of 10-20k Front/Back with 5k Armor. Of course this would only be available to that type of ship.

Haven't seen or flown the Oppressor (yet), but my Aggressor > my Advanced in a big way. Surprised that isn't mentioned here, am I the oddball?

You're quite the oddball. Although note that the context here is PvP, where unless you really have a crappy Advanced, the Aggressor simply doesn't compete.

I tried the Aggressor, wasn't really all that impressed with it, but I'm impatient when I come to my turning and such. I'm sure if you don't even bother providing anything for a tailgunner and just fly it as a heavy fighter that it's fairly decent, but I still won't switch. =)

That'll totally turn them into PvE godships. And what bone will they throw the rest of us who Mastered and choose not to drag along gunners? I'd like to have something to show for it too.

The moment they start tweaking things like that is the moment everything will spiral out of control as adjustments oscillate all over. In PvE, the ships are quite usable. Something needs to be done with them in PvP, and that's where the changes need to be applied. I don't think I should have an easier time killing any other Master ship than I do killing Tier 3's in Lok (which is the case; it takes me two volleys at most to kill any player, it takes three for me to wipe a heavy Tier 3).

But that's a digression that many other threads cover just fine. Bottom line is, answering the question, as it stands now, the TIE Advanced is the ship of choice, hands down.

the aggresser is better then the adv if you are takeing out gunboats and you got a nice mk3-4 proton and a skilled gunner
