That mission is abit too hard i agree... but i believe not impossible at least i am going to try out a few things before i give up. However placing the wp between those two spawns is just.. well.. pretty sure a dev had a good laugh while placing that patrol point LOL

You don't have to fight that group of imperial ships, we didn't just go straight to the wp, we skirted around that and did the mission with just two of us.

We learned that lesson after getting ganked the same way a few times....

yayson, when they start spawning as many, you don't have to disable any. HQ says that you should do your damndest to survive, so just kill the fighters and live till they say your're done. I've lived enough for them to say stuff like "You've destroyed 66% of the attackers, keep it up." But then the Aggressors got me.

Flong, how did you skirt that WP exactly? I've tried diving in, turning around, boosting out, and IFF scrambling and they still followed me to my group.

I have pretty well soloed every mission up to tier 3, ran the first solo, then 2 and 3 I did with a friend. The first time out on this mission, the two of us got hammered. I thought, no big deal we just got caught by suprise, so we tried again. And again, and again, and again. At one point, we had a group of 3 X-Wings and a Longprobe out there and still got trounced.

We have tried several approaches. Long trips to the "backside" of the WP to avoid the non-mission spawns, boost through the middle and use IFF scramble, and even tried to disable all the nearby ships before activating the WP. It just seems that no matter the firepower you bring at this level, the spawn ships are too plentiful. Hopefully after sleeping on it for the night, a new tactic may be found, either way this mission has caused more difficulties than all the others I have flown combined.

I think there was a bit of a mistake in the placement of this mission. It starts out with you eliminating a group of TIEs attacking some allied NPC X-Wings. That's fine. Then you "patrol" a little bit before they send you off to capture a lone fighter at a location. However, when you get to the location, HQ sees that it's actually a heavily fortified base and tell you to try to live as long as you can. They don't know how right they are.

Not only do you have 3 Tier 3 ships (TIE Fighters, Interceptors, Bombers, and the occasional Imperial Inquisitor named TIE Interceptor) spawning in on you every minute, you also have 2 TIE Aggressors, 2 Oppressors and 2 TIE Fighters, all of Tier 4 level. I went on that mission with two other wingmates in X-Wings (they are at 3-3-3-3, did missions out of Yavin) and I am 3-3-3-2. We get ripped to shreds. I can understand possibly needing more than 3 fighters for a Tier 4 mission, but needing more than that for a Tier 3 mission is prepostorous in my opinion.

Swede, I know you did the Rebel Missions in Beta. Could you please modify the mission placement for that part at the very least and move it away from that Tier 4 spawn? I don't see why I'd have to get a whole squadron of fighters to do one Tier 3mission (a squadron is 12 fighters for those who don't know).

Ok, I tried this over lunch break between classes. It is soloable if you've got a fast enough ship. What you do is, after clearing out the six fighters beneath the station and following the patrol WPs, you go straight in for the mission point. Once it's activated, flip 180 degrees and go full throttle and boost out of there as you hit /iffscramble. If you can clear out fast enough, the Tier 4s won't re-aggro you and you can then just face the waves of 3 Tier 3 fighters. There are about 4 total waves.

Then you are free to go on to capture a lone fighter that has 3 TIE Interceptor escorts. Just be careful after you disable the Experimental TIE. I was fighting the escorts as they were capturing the TIE and one of my stray blasts nailed the disabled TIE and blew it up, destroying it.

I haven't tried this tactic with a group, but you might want to have your buddies hang back like 2 km so when the Tier 4s lose their aggro on you they won't aggro your wingmates.

Time to go try this again.

same thing, 6 ships and still blasted. tried the skirting around non-mission ships but they always get us. we've only made it to the npc rebel ships once and we've done it tons of times since saturday. is it the squadron you're in that makes it so tough? other people arn't having this much trouble.

I have solo'ed myself all the way to the last mission on Tier 3. No real probs, and only a few repeated missions. However,I have tried this mission about eight times now. I have gone around the waypoint to avoid the tier 4 guys but without help. I have even had a few fellow p.a. players help me out only to be torn into tiny flaming space specks. We had 2 X-wings, two y-wings longprobes, and we still got ripped apart... So im back to killenrandom dudes andtryen to upgrade my X-wing... maybe if I had about 15k of sheilding.... maybe more. heheh
