Hello All!

When I first got into JTL, I put up several posts (with great responses) about not being able to get past my first Novice mission. Essentially, I couldnt have killed a fly... even a half dead one! For the life of me, I could not figuire out what I was doing wrong. From the responses I recieved, I searched the galaxy (my server) high and low for the best parts allowed to someone with only Novice and no XP. And still, nothing. Then, after some reseach, I found out that I ahd fallen victim to a bug! Ah... the joy and relief of discovering that indeed I was far more capable than a flying Smurf.

If you go Privateer, at least on my server (Bloodfin for the character I am speaking about), I would highly recommend against joining the RSF which is out of Theed. Your very first mission sets a waypoint right smack in the middle of two spawning points for Teir 2 NPC enemies. So, with no XP and thus no mods (its your first mission), assuming you live long enough to even get to your waypoint, you will have between 2-5 of these Teir Two's all over your tail BEFORE you hit the waypoint to spawn your first mission. The mission thenspawns three Teir One's. So you end up fighting between 5-8 baddies for your first mission. Your weapons (even withthe primo novice ship I built) will do nothing against the Teir Two's as a virgin, green Novice. I ran this mission 10+ times before realizing it was a bug. Again, this is your first RSF mission, at this point you have no XP thus no mods nor enhancements.

The solution is, simply, quit the RSF. To do that, you will need to fly to Bestine and talk to the Pilot Guild Founder. You will need to tell him that you want to retire. After being asked "Are you sure?" several times, you will retire and loose (essentially surrender) your ability to fly. Once this is done AND you have ended the conversation, start up another conversation with him, telling him that you want to become a pilot. He will walk you through a variety of options that eventually will lead to him giving you a waypoint to rejoin the Pilots Guild again, via whatever alliance you choose (Rebel, Imp, or Privateer). Make sure that if you stay Privateer, you dont choose Theed (the RSF) again, Choose one of the other two options. I choose the Smugglers Alliance, and have yet to die on my first four missions. In fact, hardly a scratch! A BIG difference than flying for the RSF whose delusions of grandeur were spanking my hyperdrive like a bull manhandling a cowboy. Plus the missions place me in areas of space where there are plenty of things to fight (at my level) for XP.

The thing to remember is that you have no or very little XP if you get caught in this painful bug. So retiring and re-joining is no big deal. If you have XP you will loose all of it. So it is not a solution for someone just looking to change their alliance. But for those caught in that horrific RSF bug, dont quit the game... just quit the RSF! They suck! They die! And they want to take you down with them! JUST SAY NO

I hope this will help others to save a lot of time and heartache that need not be. Hello? Mr or Mrs Dev? You might want to fix that bug so people dont throw their computers through a window screaming something about Jar-Jar, a blender and SWG.

Peace...
