Thread: What happens when you die?

What happens when you die and you have not paid the 1000 for the clone?

Can you still exist and go back to get your loot off the corpse?

If so, what's the point of cloning at all?

Just wondering if cloning is really necessary.

thanks,

From what Iknow (this is what happened to me late in beta, I am yet to die in release) You take 75% (roughly) wounds to every stat. Im not sure if anything else happens but I noticed that even after I healed all my wounds my stats where much lower then they should have been. So maybe it lowers them and slowly migrates them back up?

And you form a corpse just like in eq which has all your items on it, unless ofcoarse you insured all your items and have no money on you.

You get the option of resurecting at the nearest unbound cloning centre, and with that you have lots of wounds. These do not regenerate over time, but must be healed by a medic/entertainer

As for your corpse, any uninsured items will remain on your corpse for you to get later. You havea few options:

1. You can use /corpse when targetting your corpse to drag it closer to you (only really useful if its surrounded by lots of angry creatures)

2. You can /consent party members to drag your corpse for you, or even loot your corpse (I think) to bring it back to you.

i was a bit confused by this as well after getting slain by a baby nunawith my alternate character one day. as soon as i got slain i was a bit unnerved thinking i had just lost a TON of inventory etc. When i woke up in the cloning center it said something about "New player...." it flashed away and I couldn't make out or recall the message to see what it said. However when i checked my inventory I had all my items and was unable to find a corpse when i went back to the location of the killing...

...i did go ahead and make a clone/insure but now i wonder if i needed to?

any ideas?

I would like to know when your "new player" status expires.

It is not enough that the Empire wins but that all Rebels must lose.

It expires after four deaths. I lost my new player protection last night after getting deathblowed by a bandit.

So it looks like the advantage of cloning is...

You are fully healed, no wounds to deal with.

You get a waypoint back to your corpse, (without the clone you have to 'find' your corpse out there)

hmmmmmm 1000 credits....

BTW, I got 3 free deaths before I had to Clone/insure..

My Deaths were caused by not reading the rules...you die if you are incapacitated 3 times in 10 minutes, even without any deathblow.

When you die, you become one with The Force and fade away.....

J/K

For a new character, you get 3 New Player Exemption deaths before they really count.

After that, if you die and you pick the center where your clone data is stored (it costs 1000 credits to save your clone, but it's good for all your deaths (until you want to change to another city)), I believe you are cloned with your current wounds, plus any insured items. Your uninsured items are still on your corpse, and a waypoint is created in your datapad. You do need to open your datapad, and activate the waypoint.

If you do not have a clone data set (1000 credits), or you clone at the nearest station rather than the one where your data is stored, you come back with 60-75% wounds! Yes, the black portions of your HAM bars (Health, Action, Mind). These will not heal by themselves. You need to go to a cantina first, and watch some entertainers to heal your mind wounds. Then head to a medical center. You will heal very slowly in the hospital by yourself. If your mind wounds (Battle fatigue actualy) is not cured, any healing you get will be less effective.

If there are medics or doctors around, you may get healed by them. It IS POLITE to tip them. They spend their time, and they have to create or buy their wound pacs to heal you. The Minimum wound pack takes 8 organics, and 8 inorganics to create. If they do not get tips, or goods needed to make their medicines from the players, they will have to go out and buy or harvest their own. So if you go into the medical center with lots of black wound damage, and there is no one out there to heal you, they are probably out having fun or collecting their own resources. You will have plenty of time to ponder on this! Just sitting in the hospital can take you hours to fully recover your HAM bar from massive damage.

(Did I mention cloning is probably a wise investment?)

great answer Hooster ...

I thought you had to pay the 1000 credits after each death for cloning...

Much better to know it is a one time fee....worth it for sure...

I didnt know that the medical center heals wounds just by being in the building ! It just takes a long time.

You do have to buy insurance after each death tho, right?

BTW, the medics start out by only being able to assemble stimpacks, which don't heal wounds, only damage. The wound healing kits have to be purchased or assembled by an advanced artisan it seems.

Tip the medics alot!

Actually it is a doctor who can make the Wound Healing Packs also. You get skill to make the packs with the "Organic Chemistry" Line in the Medic Skill.

Ok, when you die...

You Spawn at the Nearest Space Station, you need repairs, and your parts have decayed some.
