Thread: Has any thought been given to making the Space Zones LARGER?

Right now it seems to me at least the zones feel incredibly cramped. You can go from end to end with decent engines in about 8 minutes or so, and you always seem to be running into another agro spawn or group of other players. In this climate I can imagine how they would be able to intoduce capital ships, as more then a couple of them would come close to filling up the entire zone. Also it makes redvouzing at a secret location to mount a suprise attack almost impossible, as the entire zone can be scouted out in a matter of minutes. Finnaly, these tiny zones take away from the feeling of "vastness" on usally associates with space, and space travel. I, as Im sure many others do, feel like a caged rat.

Some possible suggestions to make space better:

1. Increase the size of the zones 5-10x(65-160km across, as opposed to the current 16km). This will allow for capital ships to roam free, and allow for much greater varity in the zones as differnt levels of spawns can be produces (ie you can have high level spawns out in the deeper regions without the chance of them crossing over into the newbie zones).

2. When and if the zone size in increase, create more hyperspace points OR allow players to hyper space to a specific waypoint (with some restriction of course).

3. Add more NPC capital ships (if and when the zones are increased in size).

What do you all think?

It is a double edge sword. For every person who wants a bigger zone, you have people who say what a waste of time it is to have to fly across so much empty space to get places.

So far things seem fine to me. They haven't been too crowded.

True, but of you add more hyper space points, or the ablity to hyperspace to a waypoint of your choosing, then that issue is mitigated. And I dont know if you were a beta tester, but after playing this game for 2 months, I feel a little cramped, and know most of each sector by heart.

And then theres the issue of lag, very nice short hyperspacing between sectors right now and i have a midly slow computer. i do not want to wait 5 minutes while i load twiddling my thumbs

It takes you five minutes to load? Even on my friends crap 1.8 ghz machine it only take about a minute 30 to load into a new sector...

When I started this game, I couldn't believe how small the space zones were. Its not even 8 minutes, more like 4 or 5. The zones feel incredibly small and need to be probably tripled in size.

Its also incredibly frustrating to fly out to a mission to find out wham your at the zone Edge. The npcs start to ride the edge so thier fighters fly all weird making them even harder to hit cause now instead of flying normally they are all screwed up flying side ways etc cause of the wall
