of course in ANH tie's could be taken down in 2-3 three shot, very little armor and no sheilds.
But however dont ever say x-wings are the same. Look, when luke's x-wing got shot twice from behind, which hit his engines it didnt outright kill him, in this game it would. though when darth vader shot him it only took r2... but you guys need to watch the movie as a whole...
Player sheilds are really underpowered.
beleave or not, alot of the times the movies are not great sources, you have to get into the books and comics and what not. read the comic called "X-wing:In the Empires Service" while they were fighting for the moon of brentaal 4, Wedge's x-wing took severel hits while dogfighting a remaining squint(tie Interceptor) and said he was singed but still in workable order.
and take a look at this, Author Micheal A. Stackpole in reference with one of the x-wing books said there was a tactic by which two x-wings, if they are close enough to eachother, can bind sheilds together which would be strong enough to take 1-2 direct hits from a TURBOLASER. think about that, a turbolaser.. hmmm.... it has the destructive power to disentigrate whole asteriods!
Realistic my left cheek, alot of the dynamics in this game are great but weapons effectiveness on pvp is overpowered ,sheild effectiveness is underpowerd, and sheilds definatly doesnt do crap in pvp.
it would make since if sheild could take atleast 2-3 direct hits, and no, it wouldnt unbalance poodoo. why? first of all, how many shots can you make in 2-4 seconds, about 4-5. so... in essence sheilds would take about 2-3 direct hits, armor(even the best armor) takes 2-3 more hits, so about 4-8 shots at most when takes about 5-10 secs( a little note here, x-wings and tie int shoot four at a time every 1-2 seconds). i also like the fact people can miss becuase of the smaller profile. which helps a bit..

lol, if that had any truth to it Lucas wouldnt be handing out the license to write starwars material would he?

saying he deosnt care IS bs. Lucas constantly watches what happens in his franchise, he's extremely greedy about what goes on in starwars. he even directed how the timeline would go in the books and comics towards the New Jedi Order, he even put out his own money to make commerciel's for the New Jedi Order line of books with Mark Hamil as the voice in the background. Of course Mr. Lucas is gonna watch his baby, are you nuts?
There is even a quote by him saying he and Timomithy Zahn were like the same person in regard of how the backdrop of the future of star wars, he went so as to say if there were going to be further episodes after Return of the Jedi he would probable do the Thrawn trilogy.

and just one thing, he's no bill gates but 10mill probable doesnt mean that much to him. he probable made that much from the first three movies.

George lucas gets mony when he hands out those lisences. he dosent care what people write just as long as the cash flows
