If the PVP battles become longer due to either undiscovered advanced loot or revamp........
I hear alot about how its unfair how the YT-1300 manuvers like a boat against a fast one man fighter and doesnt stand much of a chance. The solution is to make asteroids do damage in PVP. The theory is you get some massive shields and armor for YT-1300 and head for the asteroids.
Lets say you have the right RE'd uber shield/armor YT now, (I suspect theres something rare out there that we havent found yet thats very good for the YT and requires its huge mass, like some huge shield but idk just suspect it. YT's in EU were not rare, they were considered "pieces of junk" except that Hans just had the right stuff to make his exceptional)
Ok so back to the point. I hear its messed up the advantage the fast ship have against boats like these. The solution is to add damage to the collision from asteroids, its going to make a small fast fighter think twice to haul ass on straight stafing runs against the YT-1300 when he's got asteroids floating around him.
If I suspect right someones gonna do the right thing to their YT with the right parts to make their YT a like a tank. (I dont even get why they dont do dmg in pve but w/e I guess to baby those whining about difficulty. I mean come on its so unlrealistic not to take ANY dmg at all from asteroid collision.)
Ok so NM that lets just go back to the idea that as soon as you enter PVP asteroid are no longer something fun to ram into when you in a haze late at night. There something to take into serious consideration, a small asteroid glancing of you is like a blaster hit but colliding head on with a large one is ridiculous.
Ok my point is, say your YT-1300 suddenly encounters a gank squad of A-wings, or whatever uber fighter craft of your choice that decide to make full speed strafing runs against your boat. The solution would be to do what Han did, and head for the asteroids, with your ships mass and possibly the right stuff, the YT can take hits from asteroids with far less damage.
On the other hand this causes the A-wings a big headache, as they can no longer zoom around at top speed, if they do they run a serious risk with a much lighter shield and armor, because the dmg of asteroid collision should corelate with angle and speed of the colliding craft.
I dont understand the logic behind asteroids not damaging. When you make a game challenging it forces ppl to get good. Your not born with twicth skill, but let me be 1rst hand to tell you, the cordination comes with obsession. You have to have alot of patience, modesty, and take every loss as a learning experience, either your out leveled and you just got greedy instead of jumping, or you know exactly what to do wrong and most likely wont make that mistake again.
Having asteroids dmg (ok let the ppl leving PVE relax or w/e) I do see how it would create a griefing system. It would be a safer haven for larger, slower, yet heavily shielded ships, aloowing them to escape griefers/what not, and just be total Empire Strikes Back flashbacks. But no. The damage deal needs to be reconsidered at least for PVP, it gives those a chance that want to evade a chance to and encourages people to 'master' navigating asteroid fields while giving a larger multi ship the advantage it needs.
You could totally land on a large asteroid Ep4 style, (I've alread done it) its one big LOS break, and a YT crew could just wait for us SOB hotrodders to come back in your sights. IMO, staying true to EP4 style, us hotrodders should blow up in one hit thusting into a large asteroid while pursuing a YT-1300.
This would only benefit YT-1300's, but other pilots as well who want to evade a PK, and have practiced weaving through asteroids in PVE with the damage off. Theres no way antother player in my mind could grieve you through asteroid dmg, its your choice to enter it and SHOULD be dangerous- at least to some extent...

You know ive thought about this same stuff, very good ideas here. Asteroids should definently do some damage, even if its just a tad. And these larger ships like the YT and Nova Courier, could have their own shields that no other craft can equip and are way stronger than fighter shields, or maybe even TWO regular generators.
If asteroids did damage the YT would own against a fighter. You figure, YT is barely moving, shooting at the fighter behind him, the YT has more time to look out for asteroids and will be rolling and turning out of the way. Meanwhile, the fighter behind him is trying to shoot the YT and trying to avoid asteroids at the same time, moving all over the place, and if he tried to make passes at the YT he would be pelted by the ateroids. Look at The Empire Strikes back, the YT and the TIEs. Asteroids ate the TIE's alive.

Lol you guys, I know you don't want to believe this but that YT is NOT a fighter. No matter what you do its gonna be a slug. I know you want it to be better but its not. It is what it is.

yeah, this isn't the Falcon we're flying. These are lightly modified YT-1300s we have here. Nothing we do to them is going to give us the performance of Han's ship. I do agree that the MP ships should have either twin shield generator slots or MP class loot (while still having them able to use Starfighter class loot) for certain areas.
Maybe have this MP specific items be multi-profession crafted (would make sense since they are larger ships).

I agree that asteroids should do some damage, as should colliding with another ship. The small explosion-type effect is there, it looks like you should take damage. Of course, the damage should vary depending on the ship.

I never said it was a frickin fighter. I was giving recommendations on using the enviorment to the YT-1300's advantage- oh why am I wasting my time even explaining this to you whe you dont read the posts anyway except for two words anway..
LOL @ u, GUY. dam and i thought all the "geniuses" lurked on SWBFs forum.

Yes exactly my point. The asteroids devastate a small fighter at highspeed while a 1300 just chills and there not near as damaging to the 1300, probably w/ a much better recharge rate than the fighters, its not big deal, he's basicly taking cover between some and waiting for fighter to enter field of fire..
I do understand why they dont do dmg with colliding ships. Its so wealthy shiprights can't just ram other players who dont have several ships at their disposal. Its anti-grief/ no dmg ship colliding,
but I fail to see how someone can grief another with an asteroid. Its their choice to enter.
