I am a level 1/2/1/1 Cor-Sec Pliot...
I have a Dunelizard and it is equipped with an Astromech level 1. I had originally bought a bunch of droids and stuff only to find out apparently they do not work for a Dunelizard and that I needed an astromech, so I installed one.
I have now found that it seems I need to do something more with this astromech than just put it in my ctrl d and then load it as it is not appearing as Loaded? It turns red? What else do I need to do? I feel like I read there is something else I need to do, but for the life of me I cannot recall.
Heeeeellllppppp mE!

the turning red is normal, mine does that too. you need to get unprogrammed memory chips and put one of the programs you are able to burn on to it with you astromechs 1. then you initialize them and they go to your datapad, in there you will have to open your flight computer and put them in that then install it on your ship.

oh... So she was saying a higher level pilot of your own pilot profession can give you commands? But she has in brackets(or a different pilot) That is what led me to believe that.. Which is it?

note: You can trade programmed chips with other pilots. So a higher level pilot(or different pilot) could program chips with commands for you, then you could load them into your computer. You can only trade programmed chips that have not yet be transfered into your datapad.
ooo very interesting... so you can get a full set of commands for your shields reactor and weapons by trading, very handy to know..
I dont think that what he meant...
To me it seems logical that you SHOULD be able to use a rebels commands as a neuteral pilot because its your computer doing it not you.

*cough* She *cough*
And yes, you can trade commands between different pilot professions as well as be given commands by pilots a higher level than you
so an imperial could get reactor overload from a privateer and use a reactor overload in conjunction with an engine overload to make everything run better but not waste power. Those commands do damage the parts slightly though...but thats the cost of the command.
You are never "certed" for specific droid commands. You simply learn the skill to program those commands yourself. So any and all droid commands can be traded

Very good thank you for clarifying, now to find some shady imps and rebels to buy commands off of.
Good opertunity here for the DE, get together an uber set of commands and sell them prepackaged with a good droid or computer for big bucks.

Only hold back for commands is your astromech/flight comp. use skill. If it isn't high enough you wont be able to use some of the high lvled commands. Also it might takes a REAL long time to refresh itself again.

So the slight computer essentially holds the "special moves"? I am still confused as to what role it plays and how to get it running properly. Sorry I am a stooge...

Okies, here is how it works.
All ships but the Z-95, Y-wing, Y-wing Longprobe, and X-wing use flight computers. Those rebel ships I listed are the only ones that use droids.
If you use a flight computer, just by a flight computer for the level you are certed for(1 at novice, 6 at master).
If you are using a droid, use a droid with a data module installed that you are certed for(1 at novice, 6 at master).
The higher the level of flight computer/droid, the more commands you can store in it.
Once you have your flight computer/droid you need to generate it to your datapad.
Next:
1) You need to buy unprogrammed droid chips(DE's make these).
2) You select the chip in your inventory and use the radial option to program the chip with a command.
3) Now you select the programed chip and use the new radial option to transfer it to your datapad.
4) Next, you open your flight computer/droid then drag the programmed chip in your datapad into the flight computer/droid's data storage.
That command is now permenantly burned into that computer/droid. Repeat this for any other commands you would like.
Finally, load the computer/droid into your ship from the ship management screen and you are done. Once you get into space there will be an "astromech" tab in the ctrl+a command menu. Just drag those commands to your toolbar and you can use them like you would pilot commands.
note: You can trade programmed chips with other pilots. So a higher level pilot(or different pilot) could program chips with commands for you, then you could load them into your computer. You can only trade programmed chips that have not yet be transfered into your datapad.
