I've been playing JTL since launch. I really like it and see alot of potential for it. Here's a few ideas that I've come up with. Let's hear some yay/nay with some feedback.
1. Boarding Parties.
Docking should involve physically taking over the ship/fighting the crew (if not entirely, then on missions atleast). I think about the imperial boarding scene in "A New Hope" and it really makes me think that this game could do it well. The corvette missions are the closest thing to that right now, only that the enemies are unrealisitically tough (intentionly to promote group play) and that there's a limited number of missions to run. Groups of imperials in a decimator or lamda shuttle boarding a rebel/smuggler ship or groups of pirates boarding and trying to loot your smuggling vessel are pretty kick ass concepts.
2. Smuggling.
Smugglers should have a whole new aspect to SWG now with JTL. They should actually be able to customize their ships for smuggling and to perform smuggling missions for just about anyone who needs it done (with some fat payouts in the process). When loaded up with illegal goods, you should be subject to search by imperials, pirates or anyone else who takes the notion to see what you're up to. Deliver the goods.. get paid. Get caught, looted and killed? oh well. This is also where having the absolute fasted engines/boosters on your ship would make all the difference. Slicing anyone?
3. Capital ships.
Yes, the corvettes are very cool, but is it technically unrealistic to throw in a Star Destroyer or Mon Calamari Star Cruiser? I know they'd have to be huge and would probably melt a minimum quality video card, but they'd be really cool to see in game. That's a lot of what I expected in JTL based on my expectations from the films.
4. More ship schematics.
Let's see some AV-21 equivalent, mission earned, ships to fly. It wouldbe nice to see the truly established ace pilots flying a truly unique ship. Also, stolen ships would be a nice treat as well... read below.
5. Espionage/Sabotage missions utilizing stolen space craft and access codes.
This speaks for itself. Much like the endor mission in "Return of the Jedi". Let a mission NPC give you a deed for a Lambda and a possible source for access codes to a secured imperial space station. Sneak in wearing enemy uniforms, blow the place and get out shooting. Using old access codes would land you in a world of pain. All part of the risk of running the highly rewarded mission.
I'll probably think of more as I click "submit post". lol. I'm sure some of these have been brought up before. I didn't look. Hopefully you'll like the ideas and will add to them. Even more hopefully, one or all of them will be implemented soon. Thanks.

This is the onlypoint of yoursI have a problem with. You see, at this point in the SW timeline, the Mon Calamari haven't really "properly" signed up to the Rebellion, so we aren't really seeing any Mon Cal capital ships at this point.
Stuff I want:
1. New landspeeder.
The V-35 Landspeeder is what I'm talking about. It was in ANH so it's not breaking continuity or anything.
Wouldn't it be cool to go around in an enclosed speeder, unlike the open-top ones we have now? I think it would be.

2. Trade, Mining, Raiding& Exploration in space.
You buy a mining ship and a couple of large cargo containers to fit onto it. You go to a largeasteroid field and begin exploring, searchimh out a good spot to mine. You find one, andget to work on extracting rare materials from the rocks. You fill up your containers pretty fast, and on your way back through the asteroid field you are attacked by a Shield Trio of Rebel X-Wings (PCs). They destroy one of your containers, looting all within, but you manage to hyper out of there just in the nick of time. You return home, battered and in need of repairs. You get all fixed up and then head for your local factional Space Station. Once there, you send a comm message on all channels to all the nearbyppl of your factioninside and outside the Space Station, advertising that you're selling stuff. Someone wants what you have, so you two dock; he gives you money for your minerals. There, that should explain it.
3. Imperial Ace Customisations.
An Imperial at the rank of Colonel, who is also an Ace, shoeld be able to have the option to make his ship's customisations visible.
