I'm a returning player to SWG, back to get in on JTL in hopes of reliving the good times I had when I played
X-Wing and TIE Fighter back in the day.
Seems fairly self-explanatory. I'm a Rebel pilot recruit, and so far I've only done about 6 missions. Tonight's mission
is what almost made me punch my joystick through the wall.
The mission was to chase down an Imperial Veteran Commander, he was being escorted by a few trainee TIEs.
I got the jump on them and started taking out his escorts.
Now, the wierdness begins. Just for the mark, I didn't know what to search for as in terms of a bug or whatnot. Sorry.
Anyway, I have a TIE targetted and I'm pelting him with my Z95s laser bolts as they're fully charged. I watch the counters in the
top right hand corner of the screen. My laser blasts are not doing anything to this TIE. I chase him in circles and hit him many, many times, but to no avail... my shots are not hurting him. However, a TIE behind me is hitting me and my system conveniently shows my ship losing shields.
I pull off to chase off my pursuer. I retarget the previous ship, and now his vitals are lower. ??? I attack again, nothing... It's not until I realize that if my laser bolts hit the TIE in its engine, he starts to puff smoke and explode a few times until the dramatic KABLOOIE.
Okay, so I take down the other escorts the same way. Now, I'm onto the comander. I'm hitting him with my full charge blasts... Nothing, I try my trick earlier to target something else and then reaquire the commander... Nope. He's just doing his loopty-loops in his Uber shieldless TIE. After about 10 more minutes of this BS, his TIE.... JUMPS TO HYPERSPACE. Perhaps it was the game's way of telling me I suck or I take too long to blow stuff up.
In X-Wing, with lasers fully charged, at least 4 good hits would bring a TIE down and you didn't have to hit them only in the engine.
Your normal everyday Episode IV TIE Fighter doesn't have shields.... The vitals say shields: N/A, but it sure seems like it has them.
I notice we have many players allready high in the ranks of pilots so I wonder if it's a problem on my end or what... I love the space missions, however this Uber enemy ship stuff is really ticking me off. I can't advance if I can kill that commander, and I can't kill that commander unless I convince him that I'm a nice guy and hope he'll bring the shields down on his TIE fighter.

If this was a bug, was it fixed? By your reply it sounds like a past bug. I just flew the mission about 30 minutes prior to posting this. You're right, it's extremely annoying and my target got away.
Just curious as to what's going on... don't feel like flying in space anymore if I have to precisely maneuver to get a shot up a TIEs butt.

Okay, an update to my situation. I finally passed my last mission.
When I launched back into space, I turned the cockpit off to test the lag issue.
Soon, I caught up to the TIEs and we were back at it again... I got behind two TIEs and started lighting them
up. I could hear the laser bolts hitting their hulls. But once again, they were not taking damage. I got pissed off
and started randomly shooting. One of my laser bolts passed in front of the TIE. That's when I saw a puff of black smoke.
WTH? I kept leading the TIEs like this. The bolts weren't even touching the TIEs, they were passing well in front of them.
There were no laser hit reports, but the TIEs would begin to show damage and blow up.
When I got down to the Veteran Commander, he started doing his predictable loopty-loop move. I had to really lead this one. So bad did I have to lead him, you couldn't even see him on a cockpitless screen. Soon, he blew up and I got my reward.
Now, I guess this is a lag issue. I don't know how to check my ping in-game but from what I was seeing, everything was running pretty smooth without the slideshow.
I hope whatever this is gets fixed soon... it's really cheesy to fight like this and it kills the fun.

'tis is how it works you need to fire were the target will be not were it is. There is a green cross that you can use to adjust your aim, fire slightly bleow the lead indicator.
