In another forum, Eclipse power company has announced that it is closing three branches of the company to dedicate the radioactive it's harvesting to shipwrights. Other vendors have followed suit and driven the price of Radioactive to 5 to 10 credits per unit. That in turn raises the cost of harvesting resources and running factories. That increase would normally be passed to the customer in the form of higher prices...however, since everyone is in space, there are no customers.
Lots of crafters that were barely making it, won't be able to pay the higher prices for resources, so they're out of business. Leading to a greatly decreased supply as the burden shifts to those crafters that have been established for some time. Even they will be strained as they use their funds to keep them afloat until the economy settles into it's new location.
True, the newness of JTL will wear off and some people will eventually return to the ground game, but the best hope for then is that the price on radioactive will come down some...there will always be the shipwright factor as radioactive, the primary source of power, is no longer a one use item.

Its a bit of a temporary effect. As people get master, and 'get bored' with flying all the time the ground game will pick up again.
Right now people are rapidly going trough ships, armour gear etc..., which slows dramatically as you get higher level (because you have so much loot the only things you really want are a chasis, shields, armour countermeasures, missiles and droids from a crafter).

To a degree true some people will come back...but radioactive will always be a need for shipwright...therefore the price on it will always be higher...and that one resource more than any other can change the economy.

Hopefully.
IMO, JTL is just something to satisfy the masses until the Combat Revamp is ready. Smart play by the devs. ![]()

Who cares. It sucks afterit'shoneymoonanyway.
I go to ground for business now, I actually have something to dothan just stand around and wonder like in the past.
One thing JTL has done is make Bestine and Eisly what they should be instead of the ghost towns they were 2 weeks ago,.
Sorryif i sound bitterbut I'm a master smuggler. I cared about the ground game so much that I surrendered TKA for SW. I guess its master pistoleer next to go. Ugh. I love my guns. Why I don't surrender smuggler, I just don't know. Its near useless but for some reason I can't surrender it, maybe cause I still have hope devs might one day do something with it?
Oh man you talk about radioactive is a btch you should try to buy steel on Valcyn. There is no gold rush son. We gots ourselves a Steel Rush- if your lucky you MIGHT find steel for 10cpu.
