Thread: Let's talk about the multi-player ships.
I will try to be as succinct and clear with this point as I can. It is a rule that when players co-operate, the total value of their effort should be greater than the sum of the parts. That is: 4 players working together should be more effective than 4 players working alone. The logic behind this philosophy is obvious. Playing together is more fun, and co-operating creates a better game community. Players who co-operate should be rewarded for their effort.
I suspect the multi-player ships violate that rule. It takes at least 4 players to man each station. (Some say you need a fifth to run repairs) However, is a fully manned ship really more effective than 4 players in individual ships? I believe 4 fighters can deliver more firepower more accurately than one multi-player ship. Also, together the four of them can survive longer in a firefight.
If this is so, then aside from the cool and novelty factor, what motive is there for players to use these spacecraft? Players are always looking for the an advantage in the game, if they see the multi-player craft as a disadvantage, it will have little practical value.
Am I wrong on this? If so, why? If I am right, then is beefing up the multi-player ships the only solution?

If 4 people work together in a squad in seperate ships is that any less a "multiplayer experience" than working together in 1 ship?
I think it might actually more of a multiplayer endeavour effort since everyone has thier own flight controls and have to stick together rather than be stuck together automatically by being in the same ship.
Yes, and if 4 players in single ships are a more effective fighting force than 4 players in a multi-player ship, won’t players abandon the muti-player endeavour of one shipfor the multipalyer endeavour of a wing?
