Hi all
Here is what I could see as a possible solutiion for the Master Level Boxes and the Continuation to the PvP relm of JTL:
1 - Master Pilot becomes the Height of PvE. This would require a new mission (or set of Missions) that would be requiered to attain this box. These New Missions would not require any PvP at all. This will give the Title "Master Pilot", like the Generic PvE Titels that we get on the Ground.
2 - Once a Pilot becomes a Master Pilot, they have 2 choices. Play PvE at the Master Level. or enter the PvP fray. Keep the Kessel mission that currently exisits as the Qualification to to enter future Higher Level PvP area's. Once you have compleated the "Kessel Run" you would then attain the Title of "Ace". Ace indicating that you have gone up against the best that the opposing Factions threw at you and you prevailed.
The Ace and Master Titles should now mean something. I would like to see High end PvE missions for the Master pilots. Like taking out Star Destoryers and Cruisers and such that require Groups.
And for the Ace Pilots a New PvP system - Like a two sided BH terminal.
I see two types of PvP missions:
1- Solo Missions - This is for the Pilot that wants 1 on 1 combat. Landing at a factioned Space station (please i really want these) you would register with a Duty Officer. This duty Officer would record you name in the PvP system. When a Player of the opposite faction registers with thier Duty Officer a two part mission would be generated.
An Example would be Escot Rebel Commander So and So to his Jump point, While the corrisponding Imperial/Privateer would get a mission to the tune of Eliminate/Capture Rebel Commander So and So before he can leave the system.
So here we have a NPC Mission Target that is persued and Guarded by Players...
What I see as the great thing about these missions would be that they would be dependent on the other Faction Being active, as such, after you sign up for duty, you can be called upon for a mission at anytime, Kinda like we are acctually in the Imperial/Rebel Navies. This Idea could be extended to small groups of 2 or 3 to allow group fun for those not associtated with a Large guild. Possibly once the Mission has started all parties involved would be only attackable by the group with the opposing mission.
2 - Group Missions - Getting a large group together should provide Large scale missions. Your Squadron of Tie Interceptors dose not want to sit around waiting for a piddly little Y-Wing to wander too Close.
Talking to the Squadron Duty Officer Registars your Group for a Group PvP Mission... Like Take out a Mon Cal Cruiser or just take out an opposing flight of Fighters.
Same Mechanics to the Solomissions but on a larger scale. A Star Destroyer Jumps into the Deep Space Area. At that point a group of Rebels registerd for a Group Mission gets the order to Attack and Destroy. At the same time a simmaler sized Group of Imperials gets the Order to Defend it. Both sides get the Waypoint for the Destoryer, and Have at it. Again at the time the mission is given groups would be given a TEF to each other and would not be attackable by others. (prevents greifing by having 1 group with the mission and a group sitting a back up waiting to pounce kinda like preventing the GTEF that is so loved on the ground)
Winners of each engagement would get a reward in Faction, possibly Badges for the large scale group missions. These Badges could show when you examine the your Space ship. Stuff like.. Destroyed Victory Star Destoyer Prolific. or DefendedRebel Cruiser Bounty from Imperial attack. Each mission would us a differnt randomly generated Ship Name.
PvE Masters could get a simmaler set up butreplace the Opposing Players with NPC's
Well that's my Idea..Badspelling and all.
what do ya think? (and don't post that the devs will never do cause that just makes you sound pesamistic)

The main issue that a lot of people have is that they feel they have THE RIGHT to master a profession by doing things solo, by grinding xp, or simply by beatingthe games AI. I can understand that some people don't like to PvP. But with some professions, especially factioned combat professions like pilot, some of us feel it is far too easy to grind out a mastery. There is no challenge to it AT ALL. As a result.. as we've seen with jedi, there are people running around willy nilly being masters of this and that. This results in a top end system where everyone has to be a master to be of any use. The economy as well is skewed towards masters - if you are not a master crafter, you are probably not going to make much money. THIS IS THE PROBLEM WITH SWG and is ruining the game.
Some of us want more balance in the system. We don't like how 6 months from now there is going to be jedi running around all over the place. We also don't want to see everyone becoming a master pilot in a couple weeks and flying around in their MP ships. So SOE has made it very difficult to master the pilot profession by placing it in an area where youMAY have to defend yourself against real people. YOU ARE NOT BEING FORCED TO PvP. You can still play the game perfectly fine without being a master. However, IF youCHOOSE to be a master -emphasis on "choose" in case you missed the caps - you will have to risk playing against real intelligence for once.
Clearly SOE has decided to go with this new path becuase we heard many of the same complaintsfrom PvE players inbeta. Guess what? It made it to live, so I'm assuming they are committed to this path. I hope they stick to it, and implement a similar sort of system in the ground game for combat professions. I have a feeling they won't go that far though because all the whiny PvE players will quit in droves.

I do agree that everyone has the right to Master their Given Proffession. but once that has been accomplished there is nothing to do but the samething over and over again.
Now if getting master would access new missions (hopefully including missions against consenting players), we would then have a very valid reason for playing after reaching Master.
