It IS forced, because going into the PvP zone simply isn't optional if you want to master.

Yes, everyone knew there would be PvP zones. That's fine. NO ONE knew that you'd be forced to enter one in order to progress.

And yes, it IS simple. What reason does someone have to want to make people who don't want to PvP do it? Simple answers.

1. They want easy, unwilling targets because they enjoy ruining the fun of others.
2. They want to feel superior to others by denying them content because they don't feel they "deserve" it.

There are NO reasons other than those two. None. And they're BAD reasons to deny content to the majority of the playerbase who doesn't want to participate in PvP.

Simple as that.

Acutaly, if you want to master the profession, you are pretty much forced to PvP. I dont see how anyone can tap dance around that.

However

It was 7.5 million XP to get master.

You're given two options. Do duty missions to get the 7.5 million, or go into the PvP zones to get it faster.

I'm not a master, so I don't know what happens after you get 4/4/4/4 in a pilot profession.

But technically, it is not "forced PvP" no matter what you say. Not even to master pilot.

It does not matter how much xp you have, you get master when you did the missions, there is no other way. So it is forced.
