Thread: Let the griefing begin. gated
Well, this was bound to happen, and something that was brought up repeatedly in beta. It will get fixed, though you may have to wait another month or two, once Europe finally sees their copies of JTL.

anyone else pretty much gated from advancing thru pilot due to our master missions being in an open pvp zone?
i cant do my first master mission theres dudes in a-wings that kill me and my buddies in one shot. doesnt matter how good a pilot you are if you die in a single shot.
anyways, i worked my butt off to try and get master and now im hooped. its pretty much a race to get there before others so you dont have to be griefed. but i guess i lost the race cause people are there camping already.
i feel extremely sorry for new and future players aswell as our uk/european friends. by the time they get near master, kessel will be over run by cheeseballs looking to ruin your game.
i strongly urge the devs to reconsider this. id also like to encourage them to log on to a live server and attempt these missions in this situation and see what its like in reality and not just on paper....
i give up. gonna go do phase 4 i guess. jtl is a week old and its dead to me already

Ok, that was more than two words, but seriously folks.. most of these complaints are from people trying to solo JTL. I have no sympathy for them.
PvPisnt, in any way, relevant to finishing the Master Pilot mission
if people want to finish their quest
why should they waste their time fighting another player?

Whether you have sympathy for them or not is irrelevant, and plenty of players have brought friends, only to have the mission fail after being killed by another player.
If they're going to keep this mission in a PvP zone, then they should at least make to where you don't fail the mission if you are killed by another player. Plenty of players are getting killed before they even load in from their end.
And out of curiosity, are you one of these so called "ace pilots" that is hanging around the Kessel zone?

Yep, this was something that a huge number of beta testers KNEW was going to happen. There were huge threads on this impending problem. The Dev's haven't seen fit to change it yet. I guess we'll have to wait and see what happens. My guess is that the more people who become masters the more difficult it will be to do the master mission. Kessel is going to become one big PvP warzone and it will be VERY difficult to get your mission accomplished.

While I am perfectly ok with the Master box requiring entering a PvP zone, I am against what PvP is in JTL. I have played every Xwing based game and I have never had an A-wing kill an Xwing or Ywing in anything less then 25 shots. The Awing are supposed to have weak weapons and sheilds to allow for powerful engines. The A-wing's advantage is it is hard to hit. Think of Mohammed Ali "Fload like a butterfly, sting like a bee".
I posted back in beta a scheme that would allow for this to be true, and the devs have taken some of it to heart, but it doesn't seem to happen in PvP.

I think what is happening is that these guys are using no armor or anything else not necessary. Probably shields, reactor, capacitor, and nasty guns. So, if you can see them coming from a ways away maybe the best thing is some missiles or good guns vs shields.
The problem is though, that the people who are forced to go to that system for their master mission are already at a disadvantage because everyone there who is out to get them is already a master.
