All ships you buy automatically have a hyperdrive engine .. only the noobie ship does not.
note: when you do buy a new ship you need to also pay the chassis guy in the starport to construct it, unless you buy a ship from someone that is allready deed'ed, I think the chassis building costs 5k for a Z-95, and 10k for a Y-wing-I could be wrong on these though, I'm an Imperial. You will also need to buy or loot all the components for your new ship, it comes empty with no armor, shields, reactor, engine, weapons, etc.
Personally I'd go with a Z-95, it's a small ship but it can carry one gun and one missle and is very manuverable.
The Y-wing, especially with low level equipment is very slow and sluggish, think of it as a heavy bomber.
The Y-wing can use 2 guns, and I believe 2 missle weapons, BUT you need to have a second person flying with you to operate the second gun.
Basically if your going after a big target the Y-wing is your choice.
But if your fighting a bunch of other fighters, I'd stick with the Z-95
Most of your missions will be Z-95 territory IMO.

Use the Z-95 until you get to the point where it's mass just can't possibly hold all the loot you've been snatchin up.
Putting Level 1 and 2 parts in a Y-Wing is just poor IMHO.
The Y-Wing chassis is too bulky and needs at least level 3 and 4 equipment in all slots.
Then when you get a full compliment of level 5 and 6 equipment, you should be ready for your X-wing, (which holds less mass than the Y-Wing FYI.)
Good luck!

stick with a z95 till you can use a x-wing, or go for the longprobe if you find yourself dying every step of the way. i used my z95 till i was 3222 though (and still do for some things), i don't see why you shouldnt be able to

Easier if you go 2322 instead of 3222. That's the general consensus.

I'm new to the game and have a few questions regarding upgrading my ship. I have
completed the tier 1 missions on Correlia.
Should I spring for a new Z-95 (and can I have a hyperdrive in this ship?) and upgrade it and continue flying and wait to level up to the Y wing Longprobe?
Or should I upgrade now to a regular Y wing and then work my way to my next missions on Lok?
Basically my problem is that I am stuck on Correlia shooting up Hutt Pirates for basically no money and would like to move on to the next level of rebel quests on Lok, but I can't because I don't have a ship with a hyper drive.
Again, I am very new to the game and am just getting a hold on what can be done and what can't be done. Thanks for any advice anyone might have.
