I am sure i am not the only one who finds the enemy ship 'tactic' of flying straight through you annoying.. and as I play with a force-feedback joystick it is especially grating to get all the vibration as a ship makes a pass and flies through you again and again.
It would be more bearable if the other ships appeared to at least try to avoid a collision but they seem to actually head for you.
Are there any reasons for it being like this? For example something to do with latency and predicting where a player will be, bad AI or something completely different?
My self I'd like to see this changed - having ships fly through you doesn't do a lot for suspension of disbelief.

get enough hits in while they fly straight for you and the debris does the same lol

If you work your throttle right and time it right, you can get on their tail. I can do it fairly consistently now.
And I'm privateer. We don't have any fast ships, lol.

Yes i know it is possible to maneuvuer to turn and be right on thier tail if you can get it right - in fact because the initial contact is usuallyhead on this is often the first move I do before the spiral fight starts. What I am saying is it shouldn't be soley down to you - the enemy should show some repsect for their own life too!
As for killing in one pass, I am currently 2322 and this is usually only possible for weak tier 4 and below.
The experience I am describing is most pronounced when fighting a ship more maneuverable than yourself.. they whizz through, turn whizz through you, turn whizz through, etc andonly by boosting and turning can you get out of this cycle.
The tips are welcomed, but i would like to see some more self preservation and fancy flying! not just turn straigth, turn turn turn, straight... more rolling, diving, pitching like they are really trying to shake me!
Edit: I am a Privateer too, for CorSec flying a kimogila.

As far as the AI becoming more intuitive and intelligent, don't hold your breath.

I agree, it's very annoying. I often try to get a few bursts from my guns in before I do the morally right thing and try to avoid the collision - which almost always fails. I would really like to see this fixed, at least so they don't always collide with you. If not, can I outfit my ship with a battering ram?

I just shoot the hell out of them as they come in. At worst, I get their shields down to 50% or so. At best they blow up and I get to do a nice debris fly through. I DO wish they would maybe veer off or something though.
