Thread: Combined Content is needed ASAP!

JTL is awesome and I am having a blast. Last night I had the most Star Warsy experience yet in this game. Group of 6 of us helping each other do tier 4 missions (I am only 2221, but I was able to help). Seeing us fly in in formation, having the chatter on teamspeak about targets or clearing a bogey off someones tail. Seeing all the laser bolts and hearing the sound effects.... Was just like being in the movies for a big space battle.


However, I think there is a huge divide in the game right now, at least my guild is starting to see one. You have JTL folks who only come down to buy stuff and check on harvestors. Then you have ground people who are essentially those grinding out FS exp and Jedi exp. To me right now the only interesting thing on the ground are the Village missions, since they do require some planning and team work.


The game is crying out for some hybrid/combo content that can pull everything together, and keep both games relevant to each other. Or else I think you will see SWG slowly morph into just a space MMOPG with very little going on the ground.


Things I think would be a great addition:


1. Mission starts out on ground, must infiltrate/attack base and find a waypoint for something in space. Would be similar to something like tuskan bunker. Once you kill the boss mob you get a waypoint to a freighter in space. Clear the freighters escort, disable the freighter, loot gives limited run schematic for special missles for space, and limited run schematic for special weapon on the ground....


2. Mission starts in space, find freighter take out escort, disable it. Board it and clear it via ground game... Find schematic that requires special part for limited run missles and ground weapon. Also get a waypoint to research facility on ground that contains parts for limited run schematic.


Hopefully these could be added without too much hassle.


3. New planet, or asteroid base, or space station that can only be reached through space. Land at the planet and have new ground content accessible.

I suspect they will introduce that to the game once over a certain percentage of players have JtL. Imagine the whining from the people who only have Empire Divided when a whole new set of missions come out on the group that THEY CAN'T COMPLETE. *shudders*

I agree Mkappus, as long as it doesn't lead to Jedi content in space. Smugglers have been waiting longer than everyone practically for some sort of revamp, let us see the smuggler prof intergrated between ground and space. Then maybe the rest of us pilots can help them or destroy them depending on faction.

Multi-player ships currently are a good form of mixed content, but yes, boarding missions, landings, etc. would be GREAT.

I have high hopes for smuggler, that is why I dropped pistoleer skills instead of smuggler to start getting FS skills. I think there is some awesome potential there for smuggling.


However, I am more worried about the entire game than just one profession. Right now I would say 60-70% of my guild is fairly content with never doing another thing on the ground. There is no point, maybe the combat revamp will help some, but killing a krayt is still killing a krayt even if it is harder.


We need to make sure that there are compelling reasons to keep skills for both space and the ground, and instances where both are vital to completing a goal.

I just really wanna be able to dock in a space station and get out, walk around. I'm sure it could be done.

I have to agree on the "star wars feel" Last night i was fighing with a playery-wing in kessel and he clipped my front shields, wiped it right out and the armor too. I thought to myself "that was too close" which took about a minute to realy sink in but that was the mose imersive star wars moment ive had in this game yet

Nice post Goliath! I agree that mixed content is the way to go. I would also like to see space stations that we can land at and get off and check out. There are a million ways they could really improve the game. I have a feeling what you have commented on will be among the first.
