They sure seem thesame to me yet vastly different here.

The Star Wars Official Site Database even goes further to say the Tie Interceptor was Made to be the Absolute counter to the Xwing and X-wing pilots feared for thier lives when Interceptors were present. The Interceptor not only was superior in speed but it had the firepower to matter.

Not in Galaxies! we get a subpar POS

You just quoted the arms on the ship, dont see anything about weight being the same. or Chassiss mass being Equil too. notice the SPEED part? thats why they feared for their lives. just as a TIE pilot would sh|t himself if a A-Wing came up behind him. A Wings dont have much firepower but are fast and hard to hit like a tie.

That's the problem with most game design. I've played a lot games that the mission scenarios were so ridiculously against you, it would take larger than life super-human immortals to complete them. Game designers pull stunts like that because they're under the delusion that the harder it is, the funner it is, and working against the fear that if a player "finsihes" the game too soon, they'll get bored and go play something else. I don't even play JTL because the first few missions I tried I got repeatedly blown out of space and there was really little I could do about it. I decided that the trying to grind xp under those terms would be a huge waste of my time, and only greatly amplify my frustrations. so there you have it. Some like it, some don't. Games will probably always be rediculously disproportionate in PvE missions. Like i've said before, players want to "win", not loose over and over. There's a simple axiom of real authentic strategy at work here: "Only pick a fight, you know you can win."

So i guess you want them so easy that they are no challenge what so ever? Then you will have people crying because its so easy. If you dont like it, dont play it. Thats what the devs said when they started making this. Not everyone is good at space sims, and just because you want to whine because you are dying doesn't mean they will ruin it for everyone else.

I can see you keep up on MMO's lol.

Anarchy Online. STill there, and alot bigger than you'd think. I think there up to 3 expansions now?

Asheron's Call. Still going strong, with an expansion on the way.

Eve Online Going strong.

Earth and Beyond. Electronics Arts... nuff said.

You can fit yourself into "Thou shalt group" paradigm all you want, but the reality is, most people do NOT like it. The reality is, Forced grouping is a lame mechanic to encourage player interaction. Incase you havent figured it out, theres more ways to get players to interact then forcing them to group. Lastly, forcing people to group, is having your playtime dictated by the whims of other people, and that is complete and utter bovine scats.

Besides, you think im some newbie to MMORPGS?

Ever hear of Meridian 59? I have about 1.5 years on that one, first MMO in my book, predates UO.

How about UO? hell i forgot all about that one, hey you know what, its STILL THERE, and people play it. No forced grouping there. Heck, i beta'ed that game.

Everquest: lvl 53 Ranger
Asherons Call, have serveral toons there
AC2 = yup, played it.
Earth And beyond, had a level 148 Progen Warrior there
Dark Age of Camelot: lvl 48 paladin, lvl 43 Hero, lvl 30 Thane
Anarchy Online , 130ish Soldier

DO i need to keep listing my MMO Rapsheet? I think ive played about all of them. Forced grouping SUCKS. Period. No argument you could ever concieve would convince me otherwise. Ive been around the block entirely too many times, you can't BS me about it.

A Majority of those games are you quoting are still around yes. but is the player base even half of what it was within the first 6 months of play? I cant even begin to count the number of poeple telling me how a game was cool but got boring when you can do everything in it. I played EQ for over 5 years. 3 Characters with Epics. ANd in EQ at a certain level you are forced to Group. lets see you take your Level 53 Ranger and go solo half the mobs for your epic. shoot perhaps you can go solo some Planes while your at it. THe reason why games like EQ are still kicking strong while other games like AC are floundering is because of COMMUNITY BASE. People knowing eachother and working together.

I think you're jsut one of those kinds of people that dont want help cust that mena syou may ahve to help someone else downthe road and that would be taking away form "Your" time. yea i ran the same missions 3 times with my buddys so each of them can get their box as well. was I giddy about it no, but I knew they needed help so i Grouped with them and help. YOu seem to be the opposite you dont wna tto group with people cus either you dont want to have to help them later, or you want all the loots to yourself. either way its pretty selfish.

Actually with the EVE Online game it consistantly has a HUGE amount of players online and is known for breaking the record for most players on a game server every month. That MMO has gained more people than in its first 6 months of play.

All those other games he mentioned suck so obviously they will lose players, lol. Except for maybe DAOC that is a decent game.

Dont you think he should cut down on mmos? Subscribing to 4 mmos is a bit excessive, must have no life, rofl.

On the comment about how forced grouping suck, why play a MMO if you dont have to group? They are all about multiplayer and grouping simply because they are MASSIVELY MULTIPLAYER! OMG a multiplayer game where you have to interact with people! That is crazy isn't it? Seriously, if all you want to do is hunt mobs by yourself in any game go play single player, save yourself money. Grouping is there to get people to interact with the community and thats why its important in the game. Plus games that dont have forced grouping (like Shadowbane or UO) are more about PVP then hunting mobs. If all you are going to do in the game mostly is hunting AI what kind of player interaction are you going to have besides grouping with people?

meanwhile the first few missions were beyond easy for me. as i said above, for some people twitch is too difficult. you are one of those people and the game would be seriously unfun if it were dumbed down to your level. you *can* make those first few missions alot of fun by grouping with some people who are around your skill level, you simply choose not to, and don't play as a result.

if you want to be a solo artist it's possible, but you have to be very, VERY good. i fail to see the disconnect where people want to not be good, but also have everything and beat everything. who want to win but have no desire to improve their skills. it's not a matter of too hard or too easy, it's a matter of some people are more skilled than you and you have no desire or no capacity to improve.

if you don't want to get any better at the game, what's the purpose of playing it? for fast travel access? sorosub. pvp? well why would you want to pvp if you are a horrible pilot?

Hehe, forget Tier 4 (3)... try Storm Squadrom Tier 4 (4)... ick!

I was able to solo all of Tier 4, until I hit the 4th mission with the inquisitor. It starts out easy enough with 2 escort missions that go on forever, then finishes with a "defend the Ties" mission that I've deemed absolutely impossible to solo.

It's not the NPC fighters that get you, but the 2 Tier 4 capitol ships that blast you to smithereens the second you get within range (which happens when you engage the fighters).

After 5 tries, I managed to finish the mission by teaming up with someone in a decked out Tie-Bomber who was willing to do suicide runs at the capitol ships, while we were launching Tie Bomber Strikes at them and trying our best to blow up the enemies.

After he got blown up, he came back and finished off one of the capitol ships then we did a suicide run together and took out the final cap ship. After that, taking out the remaining fighters was cake.

Cap ships are severely overpowered in this game. I've yet to find a safe spot to shoot from and those insane guns will tear up shields in armor in about 3 shots... 4 shots total and it's time to meet your maker (did I mention they have 6 turrets on them)? They're also very fast and have better range than I do, it seems... it's very hard to run away (even with boosters) and survive once they decide to get mad at you!

a co-worker of mine is 4-3-3-3, not sure what faction, but he has done all his missions solo and has not failed a single one.

he's a also a master shipwright, so ya know he has a top of the line ship - i'm sure that plays a HUGE part in how difficult the missions are.

I'd lilke to see how he fares when he starts taking on 2 Tier4 capitol ships at the same time. Skill has no effect here because if you can shoot them, they can shoot you, and they're going to dish out a lot more damage and be able to take a lot more damage than your friend!

Until that, I never had a mission where I felt absolutely helpless... that definately did the trick...

Where the hell are you going that has 2 capitol ships? (BTW, capitol ships don't have tiers)

i'm on tier 3 mission 1, i keep failing... but hey, i'm still getting xp and by the time i can beat it it'll have xp for a better ship and equipment.

my problem is that as soom as i fail, SWG locks on me and i have to crtl+alt+del to get out, and when i long back in, my ship (which just lost shields in pre-crash combat)is almost completed shredded. yes i /bugged it.

well with a little help I am current 3-3-3-3 but I gotta tell you, these tier 3 missions are LONG and annoying. 45-90 mins for a mission is way to long. And I would agree not to mention the CTD that happens every so often to people

Probably not capitol ships. He must be talking about cruisers or combat frigates. A shot from a capitol ship would be insta death.

I'm lucky, I guess. I've only CTD'd once since the launch of JTL.
