Re: Master level missions: a SOLUTION to make everyone happy.
Kessel becomes a PvE zone
Master Pilot Boxes can be attained without PvP
I'm sorry to hear that. The last thing most people wanted was to have Kessel be a PVE zone. We wanted to keep it PVP so that anyone who wanted to PVP could go to Kessel or to Deep Space. We just wanted the master mission out of the Kessel PVP zone.
Now, there will be only 1 PVP zone, Deep Space, and you have to be a master to get there. So any non-master who wants to PVP is stuck dueling or going overt and hoping there's another overt around.
Don't get me wrong, I'm very happy that people will no longer be required to deal with PVP while doing the master missions. I just think this is the wrong way to go about it.
I hope this is a temporary fix until you can free up resources to move the mission. Kessel should remain a PVP zone for anyone who wants to go there.
I second this.
I am very happy that Master missions will no longer require PvP, but I wish we didnt have to take away a PvP zone.
Iwould have been happy if the Master mission was moved to a second zone.

Agreed.
TH, I know it's not as easy as flipping the PvP/PvE switch for Kessel, but wouldn't this be a more viable solution for everyone? Why not?

- Kessel becomes a PvE zone
- Master Pilot Boxes can be attained without PvP
What is the reason for making Kessel PvE? There are already 8 PvE areas. People who actually want to participate in the GCWare forced all the way in the boonies where there isn't any strategic value to fighting in the first place. Whoever is the commander of the Imperial and Rebel fleets needs to get fired. Why the hell do they keep sending out fleet resources to the middle of nowhere to fight unwinnable battles, instad of using the fleet to accomplish their faction's goals. Why are we fighting over an empty sector of space with NO strategic value at all.
The system was flawed, I agree. It needed to be fixed, but this kneejerk response of changing an entire system is not the best fix. Out of all the solutions that went up you pick the best one to make PvP second class citizens.

Once again the whiners and complainers get their way. Well TH.. I hope you make this mission more difficult then.. at least force people to group up to get it done. But I guess then all the solo PvE artists would be nextin lineto step up and whine and complain...
Couldn't you at least split the mission into two master missions? One for rebels/imps that takes place in a PvP zone, and one for neutral faction players that take place in the PvE zone? That way the players have an option of not having to PvP... and can still obtain the YT 1300 and Firespray.

One the first part, I disagree. It is a great idea, but there are some additional challenges. People with hot boxes have the advantage over PvE players with "not cutting edge" computers and players are getting killed during load times and really, no one likes to get camped, regardless of playstyle. I've talked to a lot of players who are just "regular players" and having a tough time with it.
As far as splitting it into two different types of missions, I dont think that will happen, but we are considering an alternate advancement for the PvP missions. Nothing in stone yet. We are just working on accomodating players who are just trying to get their master box.

Hey A thought on that is a group TEF or reverse TEF that is. The Zone is PvP except for those in the group with the master mission. Though the coding for that might be a bit extreme just a thought for you to present at your planning meeting with the Creative team.

If you change the Master Pilot mission so it doesn't require going into Kessel, then why does anything else need to be changed? Assuming you can get an invulnerable timer on someone who is loading into a system. Without the Master mission there is no reason for someoen who wants to avoid PvP to go to Kessel, so the entire problem is solved.
If people don't like getting killed by another player, then SWG has it so that you never have to enter an area with the threat of PvP.
