This whole thread makes me wonder if theres a rebel squadron that doesnt require a themepark to access its trainer. *sigh*

Wel i just got my 3rd Tier ship, and as a master shipwright with pretty much the best resources on the server (have been an armorsmith for over a year, and got access to our old weaponsmiths cache), I am noticeing you have to use some lower level components along with the higher level components, and thanks to decent loot, I'm able to outfit my 82k mass Ixreh to a fully loaded fast attack fighter.

it's been interesting playing around with all the components and I actually have to say, it's much more of a challenge than any other crafting profession at this point, for the simple fact it's all about customizing a ship to meet it's mass.

The only down side so far is the Tier 3, 1st mission, because you need someone else to do it with you while you sit back and watch cause you can't attack nothing.

Running my Tier 3 missions thru that Rodian at Jabba's with a friend with both hade little trouble. We both have experience with the TIE Fighter and X-Wing series on the PC from years back (and still the better games) so we got thru all 4 box for each in a matter of hours. Now on my Tier 4 grind the repetition sets in. Tier 3 was great not for the fact that it went quick, but because there was quite a measure of content. I'm 3/4 the way to my first Tier 4 box and hopefully there will be some interestng missions to come but it just feels bland. I'm wondering what I am going to be doing once I master Privateer in the next week or so...

The difficulty curve jumps up a bit at Tier 4. Be prepared to fight waves of Tier 5 NPC's. In beta, there weren't any tier 5's until you had to go to kessel.

one good thing about being a privateer. In PvE You can roast rebel scum and jackbooted imperials alike when they tick you off.

As for PvP, hey, who do i feel like fighting with today?

I knew it was only a matter of time before everyone started complaining about how "gimped" their profession in JTL is. People give it a rest! Each profession is designed to have strengths and weaknesses and Privateer is meant to be a little harder to play than the two faction pilot careers. The freaking expansion JUST came out and most of you probably havn't even begun to understand how your ships work so don't immediately blame mass restrictions for the reason why you're gimp.
Why privateers aren't up in arms is beyond me. And this is just the mass issues.
God, just... you... AAAAAAAAAARGGGG!!! People aren't up in arms because its really not that big an issue. LEARN TO PLAY the game instead of trying to change it so you can win easier. I'm a privateer and I don't see this mass limitation as something that's going to keep me from being competative (or dare i say it, superior) with other professions. You work around it. It realistic to think that privateer vessles would not be as tuned for war as ships of the Imperial Navy. Duh. The devs blended balance with continuity when they designed this system. It works as intended you just need to make choices. If you want ships with mass and better pilot abilities: go Rebel. There I just solved your problem. NEXT!

I agree to a certian point... but in truth i dont have any problem with the mass issues. im only 1/2/1/1 and my reactor is the problem. its lv 5 mark 3 and 11k power. i have 38 or so k mass out of 60-65k in my DUne lizard type 2. So i just need a beter reactor to do beter thats all. mass in a non-existnt issue for me. my ships not the best but it has saved me a couple of times.

*sigh*
Once again At that level Iwouldn't expect ANYONE to have mass problems. It's only when you hit tier 3 and 4 that these issues become relevant. Someone mentioned that it's more of a component mass problem. Well, it is . . . but I don't see that changing. Privateers are hit hardest by this. Imps . . . hit pretty good too. What I'm seeking here is balance. You've seen the size of our ships. The Rihkxyrk *dwarfs* the TIE bombers, yet they get 190K oppose to our 130K. An Ixiyen *dwarfs* a TIE Agressor, yet the aggressor gets 120K, while we get a measly 80K. As for our lighter figher . . . it's a joke, at 30K. Hell, a TIE fighter holds more than that.
Considering the amount of loot/crafted components already out there, if they changed the mass values of those, it would make all those items obsolete . . . trash. Granted, same goes for chassis, but there are a lot fewer chassis than components. Flip side to that is, a lot of people would be out a lot of money. Frankly, I dunno what to do about either case. Perhaps if they gave a % boost to all ships already crafted to reflect on the newer ship masses. Bah. . . . I'm probably just wating my breath with all this. They're so focused on the combat revamp now, I'm thinking we'll be stuck like this forever
Doubt a single dev has even read this . . . or even cares

I didnt have mass problems until I got to Tier 3. I am worse off than anyone cause I am friends with less-quality shipwright, I buy their chasis that are worse than most neutral ones. It hurts.

It certainly does make it challenging. All I have right now is my Brihk, with a Kimo on reserve...I can just forget about maneuverability.

I sincerly hope a DEV or someone takes a look at this thread to see all of the concerns people have. I would really hate to get all the way to master Privateer only to find out that because the DEVS didn't look at things correctly I cannot be cometitive in PVP. I don't expect to be better I just want things to be on a realtively equal playing field with each differnt faction having certain advantages and disadvantages that will allow players of differnt types to find the faction that correctly fits their playstyle. Those of us wanting small fast ships should probably consider a military faction since they are more likely to be found their. However the Privateers should have some fighters and other ships that possibly have slightly differnt abilties in the amount and type of equipment that can be jammed in to make the things realitively competive possibly suppior in our cargo carying and money making abilities. I see civilian personal that are in some way forced to modify a ship not fit for combat into a fighting craft. Our ships in and of themselves may not be the military equivalent of the wonderful ships crafted for war however since we all know civilians find way to do incredible things we should have ways of making them realitivly equal. (Skills, Driod programs, perhaps even higher mass (oops did I say that)) I could perhaps lowering the military craft and making speacialized equipment for them that would make them easy fast fighting craft however the parts used on those craft should be highly illegal and difficult if not impossible for privateers to obtain forcing privateers to use subpar equipment hacked together but made to work better than it was ever intended. Perhaps a master privateer skill to enhance ship stats across the board for only their own ship could be applied. We should all remember though that privateer ships while sometimes powerful they also had many problems (The Falcon was broken as often as it was running properly).

Honestly, when the mass changes hit in beta, the whole lot of testers was up in arms.

This 30k mass reactor crap is for the birds. When you get up in levels, equipment should be more refined/made alot better. Lets not up the mass numbers like that.

In order to fly a privateer light blacksun fighter...you have to be tier 2....guess what, you can't load it out with tier2 equipment.....

AND FORGET USING IT FOR ANYTHING ELSE....when your engine eats up half your mass, and the reactor eats up the other half....

The mass on ships is WAY out of line, and needs to be either balanced, or removed in favor of a "generic mass profile" for handling characteristics/limits.

Honestly aside from it being flying brick, the Y-Wing will allow a rebel pilot to run all the way to master with a good solid loadout, where the imps/priv's are S.O.L. We have to cut mass and shave corners to equip a ship.

I realize now that all the complaints about Dev's being rebel were true.

I looted 2 lvl 10 parts. A 101.0 speed engine, and a 45 spd booster. Both are 50k mass a piece. I currently own a Brihk, and it simply doesn't have the mass to hold it.
