Heads up. On the topic of the YT-1300. This was a HUGE issue in Beta and you may or may not know this. There are no forward fuiring guns on it. What that means is that you must have a crew to even fly it into combat. Maybe they changed that but last I read on the Beta boards it was still a sore issue.

As far as I can tell, all of the MP ships are like that. I see no problem with it, except we don't have a master tier fighter for when we can't get our crew together.

Good post.

By giving everyone the firespray, the devs have taken away our only unique Master Level combat ship.

Just got done with The 2nd tier 4 mission for CorSec . . . or rather, the tier 5 awings got done with me. I was flying a bomber, considering it's our only craft that can hold good equipment. But against 4 tier 5 a-wings, and an xwing at once . . . no way. Disabled 2 of the a-wings, but i didn't have a chance. If I switch to my Ixiyen, I'd keep up a little better, but my equipment would be awful, or non-existent. And well, I already packed my light fighter into a deed, since it's become laughable at this level. One blaster alone fills up 30K Guess I'll have to illicit help from my rebel friends

I knew it was only a matter of time before everyone started complaining about how "gimped" their profession in JTL is. People give it a rest! Each profession is designed to have strengths and weaknesses and Privateer is meant to be a little harder to play than the two faction pilot careers. The freaking expansion JUST came out and most of you probably havn't even begun to understand how your ships work so don't immediately blame mass restrictions for the reason why you're gimp.

Why privateers aren't up in arms is beyond me. And this is just the mass issues.

God, just... you... AAAAAAAAAARGGGG!!! People aren't up in arms because its really not that big an issue. LEARN TO PLAY the game instead of trying to change it so you can win easier. I'm a privateer and I don't see this mass limitation as something that's going to keep me from being competative (or dare i say it, superior) with other professions. You work around it. It realistic to think that privateer vessles would not be as tuned for war as ships of the Imperial Navy. Duh. The devs blended balance with continuity when they designed this system. It works as intended you just need to make choices. If you want ships with mass and better pilot abilities: go Rebel. There I just solved your problem. NEXT!

I agree to a certian point... but in truth i dont have any problem with the mass issues. im only 1/2/1/1 and my reactor is the problem. its lv 5 mark 3 and 11k power. i have 38 or so k mass out of 60-65k in my DUne lizardtype 2. So i just need a beter reactor to do beter thats all. mass in a non-existnt issue for me. my ships not the best but ithas saved me a couple of times.

Suddenly 70K for a medium fighter isn't looking to great. Two hardpoints is a moot point if you have no room to put a weapone on it. Even 130K is really low, (bombers)

Maybe this is more of an issue with high level equipment than it is a privateer issue? It could be the mass requirments is simply too great for everyone, although granted, it probably hits the privateer a bit harder.

Give everyone their bloody YT-1300, but at least give me a YT-2400

And does anyone else agree that the Firespray is actually a bad design for a ship? I know its cool looking, but if you ever have the chance to fight one, I have taken down 20+ Tier4s myself, they present quite a large target from either the front or the back of the ship. I have 3x more trouble shooting down Y-Wings, which are not difficult than I do with firesprays.

/shrug Whatever pleases the masses I guess.

I completly agree with the Yt-2400 rocks. Made popular by the "OutRider" My 2nd fav ship but i like the fire spray, but i do agree that they are a bit slow/ easy to hit.

Im curious, what made you give up on the dunelizard later on?

It falls back to handling characteristics, which is why i listed them. The dunelizard is about as maneuvaerable as a xwing or a T/I, T/A. While being a whopping 30K mass than an xwing, It has more mass than either tie varient. So im curious as to why you feel this fighter is crap.

Because its a teir 1?
Too low on mass? (ya i know this has been mentioned all over this thread, but it still has more mass than the listed tie's)
Speed?

You'll have to excuse me, theres this little demon in my who seems to think with the right tinkering, he could make a name for himself when everyone else says his ship sucks

Just looking for balance really, as far as mass. Don't forget though, the mass issues were just one thing I pointed out. There are other things to talk about

Oh yeah, I'm just now noticing a post by some guy who thinks I need to learn how to play the game. It hasn't been a week since I've bought this, and I'm 4/4/3/3 privateer.I play casually. Since tier 3, I hunt in kessel only. I've killed every Player that has come my way (and attacked me.) Yes, I know how to play the game. Yes, I know how to get by with low masses. My point is, we shouldn't have to work around this. It should already be balanced. He suggested I go rebel, problem solved. Well hell, why don't we all go rebel, since their obviously superior. Then there will be no privateers. Great fun right there. As with the ground game, space professions need to be balanced so that everyone doesn't go to one faction. That's pretty much it in a nutshell. Balance.

A-Wings are far too over powered, just in case it wasn't mentioned.

Compared to our light fighter, most definately The Kihraxz looks twice as big, buthas*less than half* the mass.At least the imperials can compete with that, with 50K interceptors and TIE/Adv (can't remember their mass, but it's close to the a-wing.) We can't

This is defintley a great thread. As stated before I am not yet far enough along to have the mass problems I keep hearing about but it does sound bad. I would state though that just looking at the rest of the information I see the lack of any real droid programs to be an issue that needs addressing as well. Mass is bad and we all know that but gives a few good droid programs or maybe the ability to have more droid programs in our droids and that may make up for it. Droids seem like they would be so useful to a fighter pilot however the utility of them seems to be very limited because their are no useful programs available.

That comment circles back around to mass. I don't have a flight computer. I can't, not enough mass.

Not to mention I can't ever fit one on my ship!

When it come to a DI or, say, a gun . . . guess which one I'm picking I can't remember the last time I was able to use a DI, missiles, or CM's. Ack! Or even Armor!
