If a tier 1 can take out a master pilot, doesn't that make the advancement trees, meaningless to the combat system, and not the core of the system to JTL? Yes, players generally advance up each tree through PvE in both systems. That makes PvE the key to advancement in both, but not the core of the combat system. The advancement tree is certainly the core to SWG combat, but it is the actual players ability (which can be honed to a certain degree through PvE) which is the core to JTL combat.
But it does reflect that the advancement boxes for Pilot are not skill based as you can master the profession (Even pre-Kessel nerf) being a crappy pilot, all you need is group members to do the mission for you, and you dont have to do much, it can be done, so the advancement tree is only to mark mission and XP completion and not reflecting actual skill.
Yes twitch challenges can be made such that no player can accomplish it on their own. Since you cannot tweak the variables in you favor in twitch, it is easy for the devs to make a mission, such as the vette, impossible to solo. It is not so easy to do this in SWG. Consider the corvette mission (the SWG corvette mission I mean) it was thought to be impossible to solo, yet some players claim to have done it, look how hard they made the Death Watch Bunker, this was done to guarantee that now player ever found a way to do it on their own. This is because when confronted with a challenge like this in the ground game, adept turn based players set about finding a way to overcome it by tweaking the numbers and playing the game well.
I have my doubts about the Vette being soloable, but EVEN if it is, certainly not EVERYONE or even a considerable amount of pilots will do it, it is tough very tough. Consider this the Vette soloers that make the claim did the Vette pre-nerf adn claim PvP is more challenging? Confused by that, so am I. Also the very day and not before that it was announced there was not ONE post by anyone claiming to solo the Vette, as soon as TH made the announcement 3 people posted they ALREADY soloed the Vette while Kessel was PvP, so I dont hold much on these claims.
However in JTL a mission can simply be placed beyond the range of human abilities. It is simply impossible for a single player to evade all the fire from the corvette and it’s escort while at the same time place enough fire on them to destroy them. No twitch gamer, no matter how hard core, would try this more than a couple times before seeing the futility.
So while PvE missions can be made to difficult for a single player, those missions are also not challenging because they cannot be done. Sorting out the missions that are possible from the ones that are impossible can be an enjoyable PvE experience, but once that line has been drawn most players tire of it.

Idisagree, everyone deserves special content. This game should have something in it for everyone. I am not asking for favoritism, I am asking for a small amount of PvP content. If we are 10% of the JTL community, then give us 10% of the content. Is that unfair to anyone? Finally, I am not advocating mandatory PvP, I am strongly against it. And I said so my conclusion.
PvP only titles, badges or rewards is not in the game for anyone before, even in JTL it is favoritism because those who dont PvP may not do it because they prefer to group as interaction not killing fellow players. No special favors are warrented, this is trying to force someones concept of being elite, why should I have to see a worthless PvP only title (Thats how I feel about PvP it is worthless to me), but I HAVE to see someone elses ego stroking title or jacket or badge, no that's not fair.
The counter would be fun, I would like to see something like that. But how is a counter different from an otherwise meaningless badge, title or article of clothing? Yes, it is all just ego stroking, what is wrong with that? This is supposed to be fun right? Ego stoking should be acceptable as long as it is praising players and not putting other players down. The content I want would do just that.
Because being optional and not being something belonging to one sole group is fair and it clearly would have meaning to those who care about king of the hill and to those who dont dont use it. It is clear since a counter isnt good enough but YOUR idea of a special jacket, badge or what not, that you clearly dont think they are meaningless. A counter is grey it favors no one, you use it and view it as you feel, it is balanced as every pilot CAN use it, but NOT EVERY pilot will use it, or even have two sets of numbers. It covers EVERY thing PvPers want and more, they can proudly display how many they got, it gives a trackable statistic to determine who rules PvP.
I was trying to figure out why you are against content for PvP’ers if that content would not affect you in any way. I suppose you have spelt that out in your last sentence. I don’t want content that says non PvP’ers are worthless or inferior. I don’t want to say that about anyone, and anyone who asked it from the dev’s should be laughed off the forums. Let’s be clear, I am asking for minor things with no skill mods such as a badge or title, and some minor articles of clothing. This is insignificant content, and certainly reflects our minority status in the game. I believe that it would only state that you are good at PvPing. It do not believe that it says non PvP’ers are worthless or inferior. If you do believe it says that, then we will simply have to agree to disagree on that point.
It does affect me, you give a helmet or badge or something like that, if I or anyothers who dont want to PvP want to collect all they can in the game, in order to get that item I would have to once again be subjected against my will to PvP to get that item. It may not seem forced to you, but since 100% of EVERY reward in SWG currently is PvE that means 100% of the population CAN get EVERYTHING in the game, with your way a portion of the population CANNOT without giving up thier moral opposition to PvPing. 100% PvE every reward. The counter is 100% PvE but reflects the needs of a PvPer and doesnt make PvEers feel second class, which is what a PvP only reward is, since 100% is PvE and attainable.
Forgive me if I am misrepresenting you Salarus, but you seem to be taking the position that any unique PvP content is wrong. You feel you would be harmed by unique PvP content since that content would not be accessible by you, or alternatively, that your desire to access this content would force you to PvP.
I am sorry, but in my view that is extreme. I hate turn based PvP with a passion, but I absolutely love twitch PvP, it is the most fun I have had with video games in 20 years. There are a lot of people out there who love it too. I think there should be content for everyone’s style of play in this game. Your style and mine.
I think that every player has found that there is some content which is only accessible through a style of gaming that they do not like. We all have to live with that and each other.

That is correct as there is ZERO PvP rewards in play now, there was NEVER any before so there is no need to create one, why do PvPers suddenly need special rewards, NO ONE EVER asked for this pre-nerf Kessel, and before JTL and before SWG period.

It is not extreme, ADDING special rewards is the extreme I am promoting the game as it was back as far as 2001, as it was at launch as it played before JTL and as it played with JTL. There is no pure PvP rewards.
I think that every player has found that there is some content which is only accessible through a style of gaming that they do not like. We all have to live with that and each other.

The PvP market is flat and I am not against PvP, I am against being forced into PvP, I am agaisnt special rewards for only PvP. PvPers are not better then me, which is what you would like to see, the Devs putting PvPers as top dog. You do not pay more then me, you are not better then me because you PvP, you deserve no reward for PvP. A Kill counter is fine, it give who cares the tag they want, and those that dont care dont feel they are second class by not PvPing.
