Thread: Master level missions: a SOLUTION to make everyone happy.
EXACTLY..
And quit harping on this SOE policy of consentual PvP. You are agreeing to it by accepting the master mission.
But since you did not get to choose to PvP this is forced acceptance.
No where does SOE say that you are entitled to be a master, or will be able to do everything in this game free of PvP combat.
Page 172-175 of the main book and page 22 of the JTL book, numerous posts by Devs, articles in all but 2 of the old Star Wars Gamers magazine, yeah a few spots.
In fact, you could argue that there is precedent for non-consentualPvP play when you are factioned player and attack other factioned NPCs. Ever heard of TEFs? Why don't you guyswhine and complainagainst TEFs? You kill a rebel or imperial NPC you will be TEF'd and a player can come along and kill you. What's the difference? When you accept a faction mission, you are also agreeing to the risk of PvP. Same thing. End of story..
There are no TEFs in space.

No one is asking to be entitled to anything. What Isaid in my long post, a pointa alot of people are seeming to miss is that MASTERPILOT IS NOT EVEN A CHOICE I CAN MAKE.The topof the profession is blocked fromme. I have hit the SWG glass ceeling because I'm not a uber-l33t dood with uber-l33t dood freinds.

And don't say you don't have time to look for people to group with for this mission, because you rpobably have time to stand around on Dant or Dath "looking for a solo group".

I don't know why the devs have not articulated this yet, but the concept of the "Master" title for pilot is this:
If you are 4/4/4/4 pilot, you are essentially a master pilot. In order to acquire the title of "Ace" or "Master", the concept (since most here is used to conceptualizing with the ground game) is that of Jedi on the ground.
In order to be called "Knight" or "Jedi Master" you have to have been able to master players as well. If you are jedi, and do not wish to PvP, you will not become Jedi Master.
The same with pilot. Anyone can be a pilot. 4/4/4/4 is Master PvE pilot.
To be an "Ace" or "Baron", you have to be able to take down players well. It is a reward for those exceptionally talented in their "twitch" skills.
Master title in the sky is not the same as master title on the ground.
Thanks for not even reading the rest of the thread! You'd see this was addressed if you had.
Ifthe aboveis really the case then the master level missions should have PLAYERS as the targets. In real life you have to have 5 confirmed kills to become an ace. So if your reasoning is correct then they should make it so that you can only be a master pilot if you shoot down five players. Hell if that were what you'd have to do I'd be done master 2 1/2 times now.

Hey, like I said if they want PVP part of master pilot then they should make other players the required targets of the missions. If all it took were 5 enemy player kills in Kessel then I'd be done by now.

And if that's all it took for Jedi, there'd be a million jedi. There should NOT be very many Aces, plain and simple.
4/4/4/4 is master by all rights, given the xp requirements and mission difficulty. To be ace, you need to be exceptional, and simly killing 5 players does not make anyone exceptional.

What's your problem with letting me be a master pilot? It hurts you in no way if I can take a few friends out on a multiplayer ship. It hurts you in no way for me to be flying around in b-wing. Me being a master pilot doesn't ruin your fun, but master pilot not even being an option for me because I don't have 30 uber-l33t friends DOES ruin mine.
Now before you say "master pilot is a choice" let me remind you that this completly misses the point! MASTER PILOT ISN'T EVEN A CHOICE I CAN MAKE right now with the way things are.
JEDI IS EASIER THAN MASTER PILOT. Jedi is simply a grind of XP, master pilot is an expression of how many uber-l333t dood friends you have. And no, I don't have the will or the time to play this game like a part time job and get myself 30 friends to bring along to Kessel.
I work a full time job, and have a wife and a 3-year-old at home. I certainly don't either. But you know what? If it's too easy to get that ace title, what is it worth? Not much, IMHO.
It should be a reward to display proudly. I don't even display my TKM title. Wow, I soloed a bunch rancors to master. Big freaking whoop.
Ace should be something special. A title to display your talent. You don't have what it takes to be ace? Too bad. I feel for ya, I really do.
But, if ya ain't got it, ya ain't got it.

That's just it though, this is just your opinion. You can't actually make a master skill box "mean" something special. You really can't. Why?
Because quite simply, the idea that something has some form of meaning based on what is required to achive that thing is pretty much just an opinion. What means something for you, means absolutely nothing for someone else. This whole argument that the master box should "mean" something by making people participate in PVP is flawed at best. How can the master box mean something for someone who actually hates PVP? Forcing them to become a PVP target while doing the missions for the skill box does not mean that said skill box actually means something for them.

I really hate that there's two different threads about this. How about this:
4444 pilots can "master" with app points, like in the ground.
Those who wish to try to "ace" make the choice to PvP, and are subject to the difficult mission.
That gives 2 pilot classes, masters and aces. The aces, of course, would be given the additional rewards of the current master.
