I think the missions are fairly challenging, even with a group they can be, depending on your wingmen. And I like it that way. Personally, I love the setup of JTL and hope it gets phased into the ground game in some respects.

You also have to consider this, maybe you aren't a good pilot. Anyone can be taught the correct combinations of professions, specials, armor, foods, etc, that will make you successful in turn based combat. But "twitch" is different, you either have it or you don't.

As I see it, everyone has three things they can do to help them succeed. 1) Improve your ship whenever possible. 2) Makefriends with people that play during the same times you do. 3) Practice!

Do these and the missions will not seem so difficult!

I so far have ran through enough to become a 1221 Imp Pilot. To reach that skill it took me about 10 tries on my last mission (Locate Nym's freighter and destroy it along with it's escorts) I was getting schooled by the frieghter's weapons since it could fire at me from 600 meters out. Upon seeking a friends help he hooked me up with some equipment and after tweeking my fighter set up so I could have the mass to install the parts I went up with him. Upon reaching the target area first time through get destroyed but soloed the freighter and destroyed it and learned my friend could not help even grouped due to his Rebel Affiliation. After repairing and taking back the mission I ran it solo changing up my tactics I engage the freighter and blow it to kingdom come and then successfully destroy the fighters after falling back on XWA tactics.

Skill at flying is 80% of what makes Jump to Lightspeed what it is

The other 20% is your equipment and luck.

Hi,

we in team bota guild run a merc service, we can almost always complete these missions first run through for you, we charge according to tier level. The reason for this is it cost us plenty of money for repairs and weapons, ie- protons ans concussion missles. I am sure that there are other guilds out there who peform similar task. currently we have 4 master pilots working on a 5. 1 Imperial master 4 privateers. This is a great service to you and us, as you will get through your missions and for a relatively small price...My guildie and I did all Imp missions with myself and him....best of luck to you...

Until last night I had not been shot down aside from once in a lag storm in the starter ship (oh how I enjoyed that shot down present on landing... how much BF??? )

So feeling rather cocky, I dove straight at the freigher and its three escort in my Shiney new Tie/ln. The freighter, and its escorts turned, and with a volley of blaster fire, turned off my front shields... I jinked and turned, but it was to no avail. My rear shields began to collapse. My front armour was becomming cratered. Trying to pick off an escort, my back shields failed, and under the hail of blaster bolts my rear armour began to super-heat and boil away into space. Suddenly, my cocky pose was shattered, I was in big trouble.
I rolled and jinked, this time to try and bring what was left of my front shields and armour to face my enemy, a last ditch attempt to keep going.
But I was surrounded, I set my hyperspace drives, but my sublight drives were shot from under me, and I sat there, helpless. I was astounded at the punishment my fighter withstood, but a single blaster shot burst the magnetic confinement chamber of my fusion reactor, my ship consumed by the blast.

Praise be to the Emperor, for advanced pilot teleportation. I arrived safe at the space station, the wreckage of my ship nearby.
Time to stitch the ship back together, and rethink things.
Three conclusions, first no tactics other than run in and shoot, secondly missiles and heavier shields, trading a lower recharge for heaver protection, finally, shout my friend who had just completed his Tier 1 missions.

Ten minutes later, were up in space again, with my friend on my wing. The WP comes up, and I can see my targets in the distance. I aim a long way to their rear, it'll take a few minutes longer to reach them, but when we do, we'll be comming from their rear.
One kilometer away from our targets. I can see the YT1300 clearly now, we are directly behind it, a quick control change, and my wingmate and I begin to drift under the YT1300.

The escorts break in perfect formation, and circle back to attack us, we dive to intercept them. The un-manoverable YT1300 cannot turn as fast, and begins to break away.

We had split the escorts from the YT1300, SUCCESS!

Quickly working together on a single target we dispatch the first escort. By now the YT1300 has rejoined the battle, firing wildly at my wingman. Shifting target to the YT1300, I cut my throttle, and swept into it, a Tactical mistake, I was above it!
Its gunner noticed me, and it began to rain blaster fire. I returned fire, proton torpedos away. Tearing its shields away with blaster and missile fire, while my own shields buckled and my armour began to burn away. Finally pouring fire into the hull of the YT1300 its hull ruptured and the freighter exploded into a fire ball.

I sighed in relief, looking at my shattered armour and downed front shield. My wingman was caught in a dogfight with both the remaining escorts, his shields were failing, and his armour damaged, as I turned, an escort exploded into flames. I quickly swung in to join the fight on the final escort. Together our firepower quickly overwhelmed it, and it too, joined its wingmates in firely oblivion.

All that was left to do was cover the repairs to both ships, and head back to HQ to report success. Then finally to hit the canteena for a well earned drink with my wingman.

This is a good story, well written.

I am glad your tactics work. But in the missions I seem to be taking, tactics don't count.

For example, I am now doing the third mission of the Inquisitor Tier 3.

The stage I last blew up was very simple. Deliver a list to a freighter.

On the way, i am notified that a suadron of reb fighters is approaching. I fight them and wipe them out. Then I am notified that another squadron is approaching... And another... And another... And another...

I know that the secret is to disable the fighters not destroy them but I think that's a bug rather than a tactic. Am I doing something wrong? I don't think so.

I agree, ive been 3322 for very long now. On next mision i have to: Capture, Escort, Assassin. Ok the first 2 are OK for me cos I use the best equipment on my bomber, but the last. Killing a f*ckin big gunboat Tier 4 ship.. I barely scratch his shields or armor, so I have no chance of disabling his 4 elite weapons.

Missions should be SOLOable.

Cry more please? ... There is not a single mission in this game that cannot be done by 3 good pilots or maybe 5-6 crappy ones. There is not a single mission that would take over 1.5 hours. Pilot is not made to be a cakewalk, if you want a handout get on welfare. If you want to work for pilot less moaning like a pregnant mother at 8 n a half months... and more doing your missions. I mastered pilot 5 days after launch playing 5 hours a day. That is 25 hours of play time meaning even the most casual of players can get master pilot in two months. IT IS MADE TO BE HARD... something kind of like jedi. .. The path to master pilot is 90% of the content in this expansion sad to say. If they made it easy people would have beat jtl in a week. Even the softcores, and they can't have that. Keep working at it youll get master if youwant it bad enough, but it does not need to be nerfed to accomidate your lack of will to master pilot.

Have you did every pilot mission in the game?????????

Just breaking up the tier 3 missions would allow people to play the game then log and finish part of it the next day, as of now you have to start and finish the mission which on some may take well over a hour.

Point blank it would not hurt JTL at all for these missions to be broke down allowing progression forward though completed sections.

Oh yeah, I'm crying, BioBlender. Let's see you complete the tier four mission 2 for corsec with 3 people or less. I'm up for a challenge, not an impossible mission that requires 10 people to complete! Unlike you, not all of my guild is readily avaiable 24 hours a day. Thanks for taking the time to understand my point of view, you ninny.

I'm running Tier Three missions on Endor as we speak for Storm Squadron and so far not haveing a problem in fact loveing every bit of it involveing a challenge. Mission difficulty doesn't need to be adjusted it's your skills that need to change. JTL is one of those games where it not only takes the head knowledge for the technology to build a good ship but also need the flying skills to boot.

The flying issue is where the people that played XWA on Invulnerable mode have the issues and where the majority of them begin to cry because they have no true skill in this twitch based expansion. Keep it up and many of us are going to invest in buying pacifiers and hand them out to the people that cry "It's to hard and if you don't make it easy so I can play it I'll quit." Boo HOO.

This happend with the Jedi and this is happening now with JTL and the patterns getting sickening. Many of us as it stands see that SOE is going in the right direction. Maybe the grouping thing won't be to bad when the revamp happens.
