Thread: Is it intentional to have a brick wall at 2/2/2/2?

One thingI cannot stress enough is how helpful a flight computer is. My engine was 57 speed for this mission which comes to something like 540 speed. Not nearly enough. So i got a flight computer programed up some chips with the weapon and engine overloads, and bound them with macros to my number pad for easier access. Now i was able to get a speed of about 750 insteaad with my engine overloaded, made a big difference.

Since getting my interceptor i have looted a 71 speed engine that hits about 850 with engine overload, this has been very helpful andI pulled off the second mission and almost the third alone after my wingman had logged. Seems i screwed up the objective somehow on the third.

For the nova courier thats giving you trouble sylia use the same technique from that gunboat in an earlier mission. All the fighters in its group are only tier3 so theyaren't much of a threat. Focus immediately on the nova courier, and target its reactor. Get underneath it and it won't be ableto hit you. With that 1800 gun you have you should disable it in no time flat if you move underneath it.

If you want a fast engine i find the best place to loot for one at this levelis in Yavin. Head for ferrous aurora, then bring up the map and look for a poi thats about 8k away i think its nova-something. Fly toward the poi till you come across some smugglers with a funny name in tier 3 z-95s. Now just kill as many of the buggers as you can, they seem to drop lots of loot, and it tends to be pretty good.

Having now completed this mission in 4 attempts i can say that while the mission content is not hard, the bugs do need to be adressed. I crashed 3 out of 4 missions always while firing at an enemy during the initial escort stage, which i will be /bugging tomorrow. I am not sure what the deal is with the crazy flight of tier 4 death watch heavies spawning right at the end. If this is intentional it certainly does not match the difficulty level of the rest of the mission, and why would the death watch suddenly pop up to help the rebels? I can only assume it is a bug or misplacement of this high level spawn. It is easily avoidable, you just plot a jump for an in system point the second you see the death watch ships enter the fray and you escape unharmed. The first time we did it for the wingmans mission we had a friendly passerby in a tie agressor offer to help so we wiped out the death watch as well.

I'm about to get back at that Nova today.

The first time I ran it I came in head on like an idiot and it wasted me before I could even subtarget the reactor.

The second time I got around behind and below it but some tier 5 Z-95's decided to crash my party.

The third try I couldn't get near the recon frieghter to scan it, the area was camped by tier 4 and 5 Z-95's, I tried several times to draw them out and disable them but by the time my shields got back up to take out the rebel escort they would respawn.

These missions are tough, I do enjoy the challenge, but the interferance from pirates and such make them extremly frustrating not to mention far more dificult than they should be.

I think the bottom line is there just isn't enough space in space, too many spawns right on top of each other and the missions are set in area's surrounded by higherlevel groups.

Well, the endor missions seem to have major problems with that. Ididnt have any problems with pirates on this one, but on the first leg of the mission i was running across some ambush of obscenely agressive tier4 rebels in b-wing's and a-wings. Probably about 6 ships total, and the b-wings were fanatical about firing missiles that almost destroyed my shield in one hit. I had to work around it by hypering in system and continuing to the waypoint again.

The crashing has continued as well for me all through the tier 3 missons. I have learned that if you are not on an escort stage it seems to not automaticaly fail you if you crash. It's still better to be safe than sorry and take a wingman. Myself and another interceptor pilot just helped someone complete the first one, and i got some bloody satisfaction by blowing those death watch ships to smithereens with my new level 7 gun and a new top speed of 925 with astromech engine overload three. Oh the 1700 hitpoint shield i was able to get my hands on helped to, so thank you to all those that mentioned sacrificing armor mass for a better shield, very happy with the results.

Don't be afraid to ask for help right at the trainer location, i help people out that ask there, and i have seen others doing it more and more. It will get better as more and more people start to like to group again.

If you thoght the first nova courier mission was hard get ready for mission 4 of tier 3. It has a level 4 nova courier complete with an all teir 4 escort of about 6 ships. I have a 1700 hp shield with light armor, it two shotted the shield and one shotted my armor and blew me up at the same time. It rolls like a fighter too and its hard to stay under it. Plus no help from npcs this time. Sounds like a job for the Tie Bomber.

NO doubt ... just what the heck is the deal with this big ship being able to manuver like that, it's rediculous.

Yeah, I've considered using my TIE bomber, the problem is it's so slow and sluggish I don't think I can get to that point of the mission with it.

The bomber is too slow yeah, this one isn't something i can do alone, although i'm sure there are people who have. Tried it with a second player in and interceptor and was able to disable and dock with the nova courier. However thats just the FIRST nova courier and the easy one. There is a second one you have to destroy and its much more agressive, chases you around and launches missiles at you with a much bigger tier 4 escort force. Just about beat that one but the mission holder got wasted when we had it down to about 5%.
