Back at you. Are you willing to support a requirement for forced, adjudicated RP to master pilot? If not, then you're a hypocrite for wanting people to play in your style while being unwilling to adhere to theirs.
Um...we ARE forced to do a bunch of roleplaying crap. We have to do quests and garbage like that to advance in skills.
That's not roleplaying, it's button clicking and flavor text. If that gets on your nerves, may I point out the "RPG" in "MMORPG". You might have more fun in Planetside or another FPS that doesn't have any RP.First you say it isnt roleplaying.
Then you say it is roleplaying and I should leave the game if you don't like it.
This essentially means...."You're wrong! Actually...you're right, and you should quit SWG."
Too bad you're on the carebear server Scylla and not bria, I'd enjoy whackin ya out in space
? Obviously reading comprehension isn't one of your strong suits.
Anyway, I'm guessing I've been playing "twitch" space-combat sims since before you were born. If I ever do meet you in a situation where skills matter, not who gets the first shot in, I'm sure you'd find it entertaining.

I color codedthe appropriate commentstowhat I was referring tofor you. If you truly believed it were not RP, why would you make the comment illustrated in green?
As for your latest retort, you never know, it could happen someday. ![]()

Yeah, as I said- not much on the reading comprehension, are you? RP != interaction with NPCs. RP means interacting with other players. I was pointing out that you were equating button-clicking and flavor text (the stuff the NPCs say) with roleplaying. See, the difference is the same one that a lot PvPers say make PvP worthwhile- it's not a challenge unless there's another person also playing a role. If you're just picking selections from a menu, you're not RPing, you're following a script.
And as to the second, I'm not too worried about it. I'm sure I'll do my share of asswhipping, and have a few cans of whoopass opened in my vicinity as well. Aside from the practice I need to get better at this particular flightsim (and the bugs in it), 20+ years of playing these kinds of games does give me the confidence that I'll be able to at least hold my own.

if I wanted to buy a crappy forced pvp game I would go out and get Lineage 2. Is really gay coming out of hyperspace and some guy with 10x better equipment is camping a hyperspace point so anyone who jumps there dies. Way to screw it up again jackasses. (by the way that means donkey for the devs who need a dictionary)
I agree that the hyperspace camping is rather lame, however I expect that to be fixed eventually with a solution along the same lines of the 60 second covert timer on the ground. That's just my guess though.
Well...that or randomize where in each zone you are dropped out from hyperspace.

This is where we disagree on the concept of roleplaying. I view roleplaying as acting/doing in accordance of the SW universe. Thus I equate doing a mission from a NPC who speaks to me as if he were a real Star Wars character to be role playing. And in turn am forced to role play. I'd rather not read the extra crap the NPC spews about his "long lost twin brother who disappeared in the war," and instead focus on killing aspect. Point me in a direction and put somebody in my way so I tear them apart. I view the last part where PvP is forced on people as a blessing. You want to complete your mission? Fine. But you gotta go through me. If you can't hack it, bring some friends, bring all your friends. See if they can save you. If not....tough. Try again later when nobody is around.
I find it hypocritical of many role players to whine about how un-star warsy this game is, and then turn around and slaughter Imperial/Rebel npcs and then expect Imperial/Rebel players to not be able to step in and enforce/defy the law. Oh no! I want to roleplay....but only if it doesnt involve me getting killed! Hah.
Great point man.. 5 stars for you!! Except for the fact that you can kill them if you are overt. Players get TEF'd and if you are overt you can step in and kill them. Of course they will whine that you are griefing them for interfering with their game, and that they didn't consent to your PvP play style, and they were actually forced into PvP by accepting the mission, but whine whine.. it gets old after a while.

Check the astromech stats. Its more like 45 percent of the game who is faction oriented, and participates in faction fighting.Of that 45 percent, its been documented in the stats that they are about 60 percent of the playtime.So... just about half of the people in the game pvp, and they make up more than half of the play time.Soooooooooooooooooooooooooo.Looks like I'm not in the minority. Keep in mind those are SOE numbers, not my numbers.Unlike the carebears, I like to quote stats, not skewed numbers totally pulled from my orifice.
If you didn't pull those numbers out of an orifice, they must have been pulled from thin air.
Newsflash: just because you are factioned, that does not mean you PVP. I'm a Rebel Colonel. Didn't buy any faction points, didn't do delivery missions. Went out and did PVE missions for each and every point. In all that time, I engaged in PVP maybe 3 times of my choosing, early on in the game's existance. Found it far from satisfying.
Even if your "stat" of 45% factioned is correct, FAR less than that actually PVP. Maybe 5% PVP regularly...another 5% PVP on occasion. You are VERY MUCH in the minority. If the "stats" you came up with were correctly, there would be large PVP battles all over the galaxy on every server on a daily basis. There aren't. There are small PVP battles here and there each day, usually around starports for some reason. Every few days, a base might get raided. Hardly indicates that half of the players PVP.

Come on why haven't you guys moved on to holding your breath and stamping your feet until you get your way?
Because you are doing that part very well already. Heh.
[Cut away some rather pointless insults and juvenile rants from the original text here].
No one is forcing you to pvp, it's risk and reward people.
What's the risk, what's the reward? Currently there is only risk, no reward. Hell, there's not even any realrewards for the people doing the PVP. Just an ego boost.
Now if you want to complain that pvp is space is a mess because it takes 2 hits to take out a tier 5 MP ship thats entirely acceptable argument. But the whole anti pvp crew is just as bad as the griefers and responsible for as much fun being sucked out of this game as the griefers.
That's rather funny. What you are saying here is that the anti pvp crew are sucking fun out of this game by wanting a playstyle that is forced upon them removed. Why are you even counter-arguing this?If they got their will through, you would noteven have to dealwith them.Period. Think about that for a second or two, will you?
That's what I have been saying all along. Nothing good can come out of this mission set. All it does is to increase the animosity between PVPers and PVEers, and that's just going to suck the fun out of the game.
How can you even argue for these missions to stay when you find that the "anti PVP crew" are sucking the fun out of the game? Sounds to me like you wouldn't want anything to do with them. So why aren't you arguing for them instead?
In most MMORPGs, if you actually looked at stats, you would find a fairly good spectrum of hard core PvP players on one extreme who just play to PvP, and hard core RP players on the other extreme who just play to RP,with the vast majority of players somewhere in the middle part of the spectrum doingvarious amounts ofRP and PvP.

Funny that all of the people who support forced PvP are already master and got the missions done when no one else was in there.
The current system supports luck and not skill.
I'm 3/3/2/2 and I support PvP.
