I wanted desperately to testsome things and help him out so he could start getting some value of of his purchase...So I raced to Naboo whereI immediately used /findfriend to pinpoint him.

I flew tothis spot, used/findfriend afew moretimes and got to within a few hundredmeters (or whatever).Started jabbing my "Target Next Player" key and got NOTHING with his name in it. Atthe least I should have seen his Player name (he had not named his ship).

This one is easy to explain... if your freind can't hit anything then he must still be 0,0,0,0 you are clearly not still justa novice... Until a pilot trains their first level 1 skill box they are launched into a special newbie instance of space where the only others around are novices like themselves.

This is to ensure that new players can always get into space even if it is seriously busy in the main instance, or something like that, and apparently it will be taken out once the influx of new pilots decreases.

As to the original problem, it might be worth a couple of different tests to see if this is infact a version of the known client server sync issue:

  1. Try connecting to the bugged account from a different machine, or logging onto the bugged machine with a different account, establish if it account or machine based. Maybe your friend can "borrow" your machine to test this, or just ignore the rules about account sharing and log in for him (so long as you both trust each other)

  2. If it is a machine related problem then try doing the disable test again, but instead of just shooting straight at teh disabled enemy, spiral outwards from them, slowly, while shooting to see if you get a hit anywhere around them. If you do get hits then it is probably a sync issue and you might want to report it on the tech boards, see if they can help.

If it appears to be an account problem, then it might be worth your friend dropping his piloting novice box and re-training it, see if that helps... Or try creating a character on a different server see if they are bugged too. The more you can isolate the issue the more likely they will be able to help you fix it.

Yep, that would explain it to a TEE. Thanks for that info! One less thing to worry about regarding his connection or setup, anyway.

Using different account/machines for testing will also be a must. And he has no lack of Alts spread around the various servers, so that's more than do-able. Providing, of course, that he's still interested in playing. He's been pretty hardcore for over a year and I think was reaching SWG burnout even before his JTL woes. I think he was hoping JTL would rejuvenate his flagging interest--which it's definatley not doing to this point. We'll see.

I'm testing these out with my girlfriend tonight. She's having trouble, I'm not. But we're both sharing an internet connection. The question is, what do you do once you've confirmed it's the client/server bug? I guess just sit back and wait for a patch...?

Ive had the same problem finding i was hitting the ships (on my own mission) but doing no damage. What i have found is if I aim infront of the reticule I actually hit the enemy vessels (i think someone else has said this earlier). If the enemy are going in a straight line then obviously you aim straight at it.

BTW i play on farstar with a 60 ping and flurry with a 250 ping and have the same on both servers.

I have this issues as well. I used to have it in beta, it went away, and not it's back.

I have logged into the same account on two machines. One machine works, the other doesn't. They're both on my network, so I know it's some weird setting or comm issues. I can't figure it out. I just hope it gets cleared up.

I did a traceroute one the bad machine. I plan on doing it on the good one to see if they're similar.
