I've stopped thinking of the Rihk as a bomber and started thinking of it as an anti-bomber. It makes the lighter loadout more bearable. =)

Good point. I like that. Antibomber . . . wouldn't that make it an interceptor?

Nah...I'll loan you the use of my interpretation of "interceptor":


interceptor - n. Any fighter craft capable of going fast enough that can, should all of its weaponry be depleted through expenditure or as the result of enemy action, ram an opponent into oblivion through sheer speed and ferocity.

lol, that's great.


Force = mass * velocity


Rihk is slower, but once it gets moving, it's hard to stop Kinda like running into a brick wall . . . that's moving towards you

Naa, we don't need another worthless multipass ship. We need a hardcore, unique fighter!! Oh, I just had an idea though. YT-2000 and YT-2400 can be variants of our multipass ship! That would be kickass!


But, 1st things 1st. Plus, rebels and imps would have a fit if we got variants and they didn't

Well, I know for a fact that the kimo is a bomber . . . simply because I see NPC kimos labelled as "Hutt Bomber" I'm quite certain that the Rihk is a bomber as well, based on it's speed cap and how it handles. But I agree, our light fighters are a joke past tier 2. Not to mention there is no reason to use a hutt ship after you hit 4/3/3/3.


Cmon devs . . . show us some love

I should apologize for my last couple of posts I have gotten off topic. With that in mind I will comment on the original topic of this post, Issues with Privateer.


I am currently still only level 1211 so haven't had a lot of experince yet but I see only minor issues with the way it currently is.


The ship masses are ok with me (Private ships aren't made for Military applications we are modifiying them to do such.


The Driod programs ? Please help me out here why exactly would I want to overload my reactor (Doesn't seem to affect anything but how much stuff I can equip back in my managment screen but I haven't yet used the skill so OK.)


The Skills. Their doesn't seem to be much here and I haven't used anything but speed boost yet. I guess these are OK with me although it depends a lot on how useful they actually are.

Yeah...the Kimo is used as Hutt bombers...and as Rancor Clan gunships. I can't even fit 3 advanced blasters on my kimo, much less USE them for any length of time if I could. =)

That's a shame. I've started Privateer, but after reading the stats, I'm going to surrender it and start Reb. I'm all for different strokes, but really.... gimped?

The privateer ships are fun...and nice...you can definitely hold your own against most NPC craft....BUT you'll never be on par with Imperial or Rebel craft, so if you want to PvP at all or take part in the GCW, don't go privateer.

I agree that the dunelizard is fantastic for up to tier 3. However, you'll notice that the mass of components take a dramatic increase once you get to lvl 5 and lvl 7. I'm 4/3/3/3 right now (was 4/4/4/4 in beta) and I can tell you that at this level you need some damn good equipment to keep up with the NPC's. However, mark IV weapons and equipment weigh about 20K each. So, lets look at the Ixiyen, our heaviest "fighter" at 80K. Probably use a looted reactor at around 10K mass or less to get by. Engine will be about 15K. Capacitor will be 10-20K (lets say 10.) Now, both weapons will be about 15K. That brings us to 75K . . . and that's just enough to get us in the fight. It doens't include shields, armor, droid interface, missiles,boosteror countermeasures. In the Rihk, I can get boosters,shields and armor, but no missiles, DI, or CM's. So, bottom line, early on privateer do ok, but after you lvl up (which doesn't take real long) we lag seriously behind the competition.

Good call . . . for those us us who have the heart to do it Alas, I'm sick of flying x-wings, so I'm staying, despite our shortcomings. Hopefully someone will hear our cries

Very nice, I myself am a privateer pilot and I hope that these issues are resolved. The biggest one I have however is the firespray, I took privateer to get the firespray as I like the way it looks (I also love the look of the Black Sun ships) as well as the Yt-1300, however since the firespray is now given to all 3 piloting proffressions there was very little reason for me to go privateer and not imperial (as it was a hard decision, but I wanted the firespray more than an interceptor) except for RP aspects. I have chosen privateer and I am staying in hopes that the firespray is left at privateer only.


I have had very few problems with the devs, but this is one that really ticks me off.
