Not only when you die or eject, but also when you successfully hyperspace out and repair items, the decay at an alarming rate.

I think the decay rate is way too high right now.

I like it, it makes me WANT to stay alive out there, adds tension to my pvp experience. I remember in the days when there was no decay on the ground people used to die and clone as a fast travel method for goodnes sake.

Did any of you bother to read the tutorial the first time you launched into space?

You want to decrease decay on your ships?

Stop repairing them at the space station!

Better yet, make PVP decay, you want risk? you got it! The decay rate is to fast for something that cost from 100k-1million credits, you think we can all go buy a new ship every 2 weeks for this money? We want to play JTL, and not waste more time in the ground game to make money to buy a chassis or items, to see it degradingin just a day..

A few thoughts about War.

We in Star Wars Galaxies live in a Civil War, and as everyone knows war is an expensive matter. You need to get money to buy your Weapons and Armor and the benefit of war is always less than your investments.

If they take out decay there is no reason to take care out in Space - everyone can take missions much higher than skill in hope of getting out more XP. A Tier 1 Pilot fighting Tier 3 Bombers is no match but will grant much XP.

Step ahead in the speed your equipment allows you to. Your income will be good if you try to get ahead slowly.

The groundgame is similar, if you grind a profession its Expensive if you work really up you earn money while doing so.

Another Point to this Topic. What reason shall people have to play the groundgame if you can make your money at ease at space combat?

My Char is a Ranger and i can make 1 Mio Credits in 3 hours buff by harvesting and i finance my Spacebattle out of this

I tried both ways.. It does not seem to havea difference by repairing by a kit or in station...

There is not only the money problem, as it stands at the moment ... but with the current system i always have to

keep track on each single component ... especially armor (as it decays on armor not hp) .. that takes time...

And what takes even more time is to travel through the galaxy and check every single shipwright for the stuff

you are looking for... i don't want to spend all my time on ground checking for vendors .. i would be ok doing

that every 2 or 3 weeks.

Maybe some shipwrights are happy how there businesses are going at the moment. But isee a higher increase

in prices as it goes at the moment. Reason is simple. Shipwrights need a huge amount of resource for crafting

ships an i dont think they make a lot of profit at the moment. But the time will come when they ask there selfes,

why not higher prices and crafting less ship. I will make more profit and have more time to enjoy the game.

The other part that will increase the ship costs and maybe all items in swg are the resource costs. Resource harvesting

have always been around. After the hologrinding stopped the stocks were building up. No one needed that much

resources anylonger. Now shipwright came in. They needed tons of resource to grind there profession and will

need it in future to continously crafting ships. The resource prices will increase, as people can't harvest more,

but will sell much more.

Guess who will be the looser here? - The pilots .. but not the high active players, they are running multiple chars

have their harvester running or maybe there own shipwright business...

---

Well, i enjoy the game as it is. I would say i am an so so high active player.. so i guess i will bealso fine in future...

( the resource market is going pretty well atm :-P ) ... but i think the system as it stands is driving a large gap

between high active players and the usual ones ...

I want to thank all, who brought there opinions here ... the pros and the cons ... i understand the other side much better

now then i did when i started the post, but i still think something needs to be changed. I would love to see a time based

decay, this way you can build up large groups go after large capital ships, sacrifice yourself for the group and have to

loose nothing. And it will be healthy for pvp, as no one will fear it and can try it over and over again.

I like the challenge and the toughness of the mobs in swg, i even like it when i die. I like that i can directly go back into

the fight to support my group again (expect if you clone at one of the advanced planet station)... but i don't like that my

items are getting worser ... thats why i am trying to avoid fighting capital ships.

I suggest all the pilots go on strike and not buy any ship stuff until they at least remove chassis decay

I dont know but, do soldiers pay for there own gear? I'm glad i'm not a reallife fighter pilot then, dropping a million dollar bomb is hitting hard on the wallet ..

Maybeone tier3 for a tier1 pilot is fine, but what happens if there are 4-5 or more? If you get a mission where you are tier2 and have to fight tier4, something is not right, especiallyif you spend 90 minutes (which gets boring after the **th wave and escorts) to get to the point and you get blown away in 20 seconds..

I like JTL alot, but the penalties are to high..Let shipwrights/chassis dealerbe able to make your ship chassis100% for a certain amount of money atleast..

We live in a game. The war will never be over and that's why we are enjoying it. Real war has always
been pushing a nations economy. Items get destroyed, manufactures have to build new... but at
a certain point it will make the economy inflating, as manufactures can't build as fast and in that
quantity, as the items needed. In real life war will be over one day and the economy can regenerate.

In real life pilots and soldiers don't have to pay for their equipment themselves and i haven't seen them
doing it in the starwars movies. Don't try to compare the game with real life. Real life is much more
complex and sometimes not enjoyable. But the game should be all the time.

I am not saying take the challenge out of the game. I totally agree with you, Tier 3 shouldn't be soloable by lvl 1. I am 4444 and
can hardly solo Tier 5 tie agressors... and would never expect to be able to solo a capital ship.
They are not supposed to be and i like that, but i don't like the fact, that i am dying faster when
giving it a 2nd try.

When the stuff decays, does the performance get worse? Or does it stay the same until the entire item is at 0 hp.

I did not try to compare the game with reality, I tried to tell that war espacially the galactic civil war is also a matter of economic war. We all have to server our side with investing in the equipment and btw it is an honor to server my Ermperor in this way.

I think the missions are very good balanced to the skills and equipment you can gain. I'm 2-2-2-2 atm and i made all missions solo, but i took time to fly araound at each level and loot a few more ships than i needed to get ahead in my Skilltree. I also tried to get more experience in controlling my Ship. Flighttactics and so on. And i can solo up to 6 Tier 3 at a moment with a TIE/In.

I think games like SWG are a bit more time intensive and its not the aim of the devs that everyone reaches a high level in a profession very quick. That would annoy those who invest more time to the gameplay.

Try Shooters if you dont want to take care about decay. A roleplaygame tries to be realitstic and thats what fascinates me.

To the one who gave the example with an automobile garage. You noramly bring in a complete car - not a car that lay in peaces spread over a hugh area. Getting blasted up is really bad.

What would you think if items were lootable in PvP - it would be a nice gimmik making hunting worth its time. But blastin up other players takes no benefit wether to the war neither to you economic situation. Thats what drives PvP in a pit not the risk of loosing the one good engine or the other high blaster.
