2 Find the enemys green X

3. Put the two on top of one another and hold the left click button.

Yeah, you can speed up, slow down, and use boosters. But other then that its just solve for X. I have no problem taking down the mission spawned ships, its the never ending horde of random spawns that jump into the fight since EVERYTHING in the universe is agro for some reason. As if these ships dont have their own missions and they just fly in endless loops in space waiting for little ol' me to fly buy and protect a friggate. How well you do means how good your equipment is, my equipment is decent. But its not strong enough to hold of 40 ships swarming over me for no apparent reason other then they were in the area. This wouldnt be so bad if I could outrun them also, but apparently they are unshakeable, never miss a shot, and have just as good if not better engines then you. At teir 3 my engines still cannot out run a teir 1 z-95 cadet, something is seriously wrong with this since I have a tie interceptor.

If you truly believe that this is the only skill required in JtL, then that is part of the problem. In fact, shooting the target is probably the least important skill. Here are some other skills:

1). Prioritizing threats. If you go after the wrong ship first, you could be screwed.
2). Identifying weaknesses. This applies not only to ships, but to the weaknesses within the mission. With some submissions, I don't even engage the enemy fighters, just out run them.
3). Choosing the right tool for the right job. After dying several times on one rebel tier 3 mission using an X-wing, I switched to Y wing longprobe, and had no trouble with the mission.
4). Creating the correct loadout for your ship for the job at hand.

Yes, JtL is THAT complicated. The missions do depend on the above skills, and are much more important than your ability to cross the Xs.

Ok i just tried it again for the 9th time.

I am a 2/2/2/2 imperial. My brother who is a a privater 3/4/3/3 goruped with me to do it and we still got our butts handed to us and we STILL LOST!!!!

I have had it with this freaking mission and im about ready to drop imperial pilot and do privateer because this is just effin rediculas. The devs are a bunch of retards with their heads up their butts if they feel this was a BRILLIANT idea to make the mission this hard.

I have had it. I have so had it. COnstant crashes. Impossible numbers of black sun and rebels to defeat, and even a 3/4/3/3 privateer cant even beat it? BS!!!!!

repeat ... this time I pay more attention ... hmmm . each wave has 2 X-wings, 1 Z-95, and 2 Y-wings all tier 3 (mind you I'm only tier 2 myself, I must complete this mission in order to begin training in tier 3)

Lets see the Y-wings are bombing, lets concentrate on them first, abandoning whatever is left from the previous wave when the new wave spawns... all goes well, though painfull.

FINALLY after 2 failed attempts I make it all the way to the end, the frieghter jumps away to safety, I finish off the last rebel fighter and set a course for a hyperspace back home to train (my exp is capped out now at 200k) ...wait .. what? ... crap ...I get a mission update AFTER my successfull mission completion that the rebels captured a frieghter and I need to go rescue it ... of course by now my hyperspace jump is 75% calculated, AND I CAN'T GET IT TO CANCELL!!!

Mission failed because I left the system, oh well .. I'll just have to go back and rescue the frieghter ... guess what?

I had a similar thing to this.I got the frieghter to safety after countless waves of ships. I thought whew that was a tough mission, thinking it was over lol. Anyway the ship leaves the system I'm not watching the screen as I need to go afk. Unknown to me I had a system message saying mission updated. I went back to yavin to train and then found out I'd failed due to this update I had missed.

I really wish the missions wouldn't say mission succesful when clearly you havn't finished it yet. It should just go straight to mission updated, then when the mission is actually over, say mission succesful.

I havnt got as far as you yet, only done it twice, failed 1st time because of CTD, failed 2nd due to missing the system message.

Tier 4 ships seems a little extreme though. I've taken some random spawn onesout, but only 1 at a time not in groups. Its bad enough they have equipment 2 tiers higher, without them outnumbering us by about 3 or 4 ships as well. I know its easier with a group, but I like to feel I can accomplish the missions without one.

I did come with 2 people and sent three times as many ships. for the first part of that mission I only had like 25 fighters on my own, but with my friends I had 50 fighters. How are u susposed to overcome that?

Well I finally finished it, thanks to some actual help someone offered back on page one.

This is the gear I used since I started this dreadful mission.

TIE/ln

Engine (aprox)

58

58

58

67

Reactor

12380 output

Shields

898 front

898 rear

4.5 regen

Armor

395 front

456 rear

Weapon

just named "Heavy"

1090-1865 dmg

shield .590

armor .610

energy per shot 21.2

rate .390

Capacitor

storage 891

regen 38.4

Mark 2 proton launcher

Mark 2 proton missles

(didn't seem to domuch when I used them, don't recall using them at all when I finally completed the mission)

all of this was the absolute best gear I couldfind, and use at 2/2/2/2

I now have my TIE interceptor, still using the same gear but the shipis a much better dog-fighter, and the 4 point weapon fire makes a big difference especialy against those dang A-wings.

The final time I did the mission and passed it seemed to go rather smooth.

However there's still no way I could have done it without using thefollowing exploits.

1: Disable the fighters when your escorting the first frieghter, and all the rest that come in waves.

It makes targeting a little more difficult, but it slows the waves down a little and gives you some breathing room and a few seconds for your shields to build up more.

2: Hyperdrive is your best wingman. Iwasn't aware of the fact that not only can you hyperdrive to the system your in, but it doesn't fail the mission. (do not use this during the first frieghter escort section as you will fail if you wander too far from the frighter.)

....

Here's how I ran it.

Mission one: escort the engineers.

In each wave there are two Y-wings,strike these first. Theyfire some nasty missles at the frieghter and you.

They love to do this "I can fly slower than you" routine trying to get you to overshoot each pass, so be ready to slow down. As you target each ship use the subtargeting to hit engines, and only disable them don't destroy them. This will slow down the next wave spawning, and reduce the time it takes you to dispatch them.

If your still fighting one wave when the next spawns, abandon what your doing and take out those Y-wings.

I got into the habit of imediately tracking back to the frighter after every kill instead of moving to the next closest enemy, if you get too far from the frieghter it can make getting those Y-wings more difficult, and even fail your mission if you get too far.

Mission two: resecure the captured frieghter.

Concentrate on the B-wing first, it will bombard you with missles like the Y-wings.

It also likes to play the "I can fly slower than you" game, but it turns alot faster than the Y-wings.

Finish off the rest (again I only disabled them but you can probably destroy these outright if you need the exp.)

Disable the frieghter and sit close waiting for it to capture, then escort it out. The incoming waves here are mostly A-wings, but only tier 3 if memory serves.

Mission three: scan the advanced A-wing recon craft.

Fly toward the waypoint untill you can target the A-wing, disable it's engines and dock to complete.

It was all alone each time I did it so this is an easy part IMO.

If you can't quite turn with it, to avoid "jousting" all day try feathering your throttle during your turns.

As you go into your turn hit 0 throttle, let your speed drop to around half then hit 100 throttle, this will let you whip around faster.

Mission four: dock with the disabled frieghter and assist with repairs.

This one was the toughest part for me each time, the problem is the disabled frieghter is right next to a spawn full of tier 4 pirates, occasionally tier 5.

The advice I read said to ignore them all and dock with the frieghter, I tried this and never made it to the frieghter. I did this part over and over and over.

Finally I got to the frieghter and docked without being attacked, because someone else was tangling with the pirate spawn. This is where a wingman could really come in usefull, even if just to draw thier attention while you slip in to the frieghter. You might be able to circle around and take the looong way, but when I tried the pirates still attacked me.

This part is where the interesting "hyperspace" exploit comes in.

The frieghter, once underway, can aparently take alot of abuse.

As long as you can get to it and get it moving, all you have to do is fend off the pirates, and rebel waves as long as you can hold out, then hyperspace to the same system your in DO NOT LET THEM KILL YOU.

The frieghter seems to be able to make it's own way off at that point.

Mission five: Dock with the Lamda shuttle to pass on the intel from the recon craft.

Easiest part by far.

Fly to the waypoint, wait for the Lamda shuttle to arrive.

I'm not sure if you just need to get close to it or dock, but I docked with it.

There don't seem to be any spawns near the meeting point, I guess thats the upside of the long journey to get to it.

MISSION COMPLETE .... for real this time.

note: may be out of order ... but I think I got em right.

...now I'm trying to figure out how my poor little TIE interceptor is going to take down a Nova cruiser, so far it's killed me every time.

Probably already been said, but disable is your friend. Disable their engines, but don't destroy them, and it will give you a little breathing room between waves. They eventually decay and count as a kill.

And try to brind along at least ONE friend. A wingmate is always good to have

Sylia,

I'm glad you persevered. Good job. The tactics you used aren't exploits, so don't demean your success by labeling them as such. These are tactics well known in beta.

Well, i dont know what to tell you. To me it seems you have a pretty big chip on your shoulder about skill. I don't blame you, there are some people here that are pretty rude about it. But i never said you sucked, i never said you can't fly worth a damn.

The other ships being on your flightpath is a bug, it is something i have seen adressed in the patch notes for another mission that was spawning next to an overpowering group of agros. This is something to report with the /bug command. I'm sorry that your finding it to hard and that your serveris full of jerks that won't reply to your questions much less group with you. And im sorry that all the leet kiddies that have insulted your piloting ability have made you so sensitive that you think any incinuation that someone could be moreadept at flying than you are apears to be an insult.

I don't know what else to tell you, if you posted your server here i'm sure there are poeple that would be happy to help you with this mission. I know i havent finished mine yet and i would be happy to group with someone to help out and be helped. Flipping out about it isn't going to get it changed and its only goijng to frustrate you. Trust me on this because i have spent the last year flipping out about the problems with the entertainer profession, and all i have from it is alot of frustration.

master entertainer is still obtainable threw all the bugs, you can do it solo, and at no point are you forced to pvp. Pilot on the other hand I cant get threw teir 3 due to stupid mission bugs and mission based progression, the worst idea I have ever heard of in my life outside of forced PVP. Ofcourse im mad, im tired of hearing people tell me that its my fault and how "skillz" are all thats required when it isnt skills at all, its dumb luck, and friends. I dont have friends in this game, in another thread I told everyone what happened to them. They are all gone due to dumb @$$ bugs like the ones listed in this thread. So im alone and screwed because I didnt leave with them and people on my server seem to be self obsorbed. Plus I dont have entire days threw the week to do these stupid 3 hour long missions. Im a very casual gamer. I have work monday threw friday and on weekends try to do as much as I can. At no point should I have to rely on anyone else to progress in a career field. That is an intentional slap in the face to people like me.

Ok i didn't come to argue simantics on JTL vs entertainer. Nor have i ever used the word "Skillz". Incinuating that i am some leet kid on mountain dew with lots of dumb luck is just as insulting to me, as it is for you to be told you lack "skillz". There is nothing i can do for you i guess. All i can do is offer to help people that want my help. I do not like the master mission requiring forced pvp either. I have voiced my opinion on that already in another thread. If you want to keep trying to solo it go for it, and if you want to keep petitioning till every mission can be soloed in 20 minutes then go for that too. In the meantime i'll be in space making new friends and enjoying some group play that i haven't got to do in a long long time.

Yeah, this mission is a long one, but it can be fun with at least one wingman. Personally, I like missions like these.

Also, bare in mind that a lot of missions from here on out are not really meant for just one person to complete.
