Thread: Forced PVP and Griefing Ganking Teams
SupaPook wrote:>Check the astromech stats. Its more like 45 percent of the game who is faction oriented, and participates in faction fighting.Of that 45 percent, its been documented in the stats that they are about 60 percent of the playtime.So... just about half of the people in the game pvp, and they make up more than half of the play time.Soooooooooooooooooooooooooo.Looks like I'm not in the minority. Keep in mind those are SOE numbers, not my numbers.Unlike the carebears, I like to quote stats, not skewed numbers totally pulled from my orifice.
Faction fighting also takes into account PVE fighting.

Back at you. Are you willing to support a requirement for forced, adjudicated RP to master pilot? If not, then you're a hypocrite for wanting people to play in your style while being unwilling to adhere to theirs.
Um...we ARE forced to do a bunch of roleplaying crap. We have to do quests and garbage like that to advance in skills.

That's not roleplaying, it's button clicking and flavor text. If that gets on your nerves, may I point out the "RPG" in "MMORPG". You might have more fun in Planetside or another FPS that doesn't have any RP.

I am an Ace and I camp the corvette for PvP regularly. It's boring most of the time because no one is there.SOE could borrow and idea from Dark Ages of Camelot and create PvP zones that only people in a specific tier can enter. Make PvP zones for tier 1, 2 and 3 and make Kessel a tier 4 only zone. Deep space is still for masters (drop this prestige point non sense). This will at least level the playing field. But camping the corvette is still game on!
You agree yet you camp the vette to PVP others that dont want to PVP?????

And I choose not to be forced into PvP by guys like you.
Whats now with your freedom of choice?
How about you cancel your account?

If you don't like it nobody is forcing you to advance from 4/4/4/4 to master. And if you must, try getting a larger group of your own to take them out.
Nobody forces you to play the game either, or maybe, just maybe it's not about whinning it's about giving up principles like HATING PvP.
Your not forced to Master but you ARE FORCED TO PVP IN ORDER TO MASTER THAT IS THE ISSUE!!!
Now grow up drop this lame theory that your not forced to Master cause NO ONE, I repeat NO ONE is saying that it is, this is about forced PvP only, just PvP just that nothing else.
Prove your not forced into a PvP zone for Master Pilot or that Master Pilot is supposed to be rare Put up or shut up this is getting boring arguing one issue and you griefers FABRICATING new issues.
Ummm.. maybe SOE doesn't like how they everyone running around with master this and master that, and have thus decided to make things different for the pilot profession which is aCOMBAT PROFESSION. Maybe they realize that they cannot make a very difficult AI and so it's easier to pit humans against real humans, and whoever manages to complete the mission should really be worthy of the title "ace".
Quit withthe "forced PvP" crap. You're forced to PvP when you kill a faction NPC and some overt player comes along and kills you. Same thing really.

The core problem isn't the forced PvP. A lot of people don't like that, but that is a social issue and one that players could accept for a one time only thing. The problem is the design of these mastermissions in conjunction with forced PvP is too suceptable to griefing. The master mission takers who enter the PvP zone have everything to lose, while the players in their for pure PvP have nothing to lose save for maybe a little decay to their ships. This means players who get a "high" out of making others lives miserable can have a field day in this zone.
"Hey, so-and-so is working on his master mission. If anyone sees him, kill him". That is an extreme example but it can happen. If you are going to force PvP for master then it should be on even terms.
As it stands right now, you are not forcing PvP on people attempting to become master, you are exposing them to PvP fire with nothing to gain from participating in PvP other than yet another failed attempt at mastering.
PvP and griefing go hand and hand and experienced PvPers know how to deal with it. PvEers dont, they are forced and that is the major issue, not griefing. I hating PvP would be hard pressed to distiguish PvP and griefing in kessel, there are some clear things but there are many greys.
It is forcing PvP when others can PvP against you and you did not choose to allow that.
You choose by accepting the master mission.. just the same as you choose it when you take the riskof being killed by an overt player after getting TEF'd.

Ace = 5 confirmed kills what does that mean? 5 PvE or 5 PvP, either way the title Ace is misrepresented and therefore your insistance on Master Pilot being rare is prue speculation, you have yet to prove Master is supposed ot be rare. PvP under the current system is stupidly simple you would be no real challenge compared to one Teir 5 TIE, so your theory is a joke, and again your making it about difficulty and not principles. I am opposed to PvP as community involvment and I don't do it. I don;t have to get one TEF to become rebel or imp not one so I dont have to PvP to master 33 profession, so why do you have to on 3. I am not forced to PvP by killing an NPC faction because I can be a covert reb or imp and master 33 professions and never once gain the TEFs outlined on page 175 of the rule book, your right though on one thing you are put into PvP with TEFs, but atleast the rules outlined and told you how to get TEFs, it nor the mission write up warns you about PvP for Master Pilot, only when you /comm the station to go into Kessel does the GAME tell you about PvP, NO WHERE ELSE.
So what is the next shollow excuse Juss your batting .000 here now I at least proviod written proof you provide your thoery about how Master Pilot must be rare cause the joke in space you call PvP is so challenging. I'd almost rather PvP 30 kills that would take 10 mins to Master then not tough like Teir 5 TIEs, the AI maybe simple to beat but it takes forever to kill a Tier 5 TIE, I can kill 5 player per TIE I'd be done 5 times faster, maybe there is something to the joke of PvP.

First you say it isnt roleplaying.
Then you say it is roleplaying and I should leave the game if you don't like it.
This essentially means...."You're wrong! Actually...you're right, and you should quit SWG."
Too bad you're on the carebear server Scylla and not bria, I'd enjoy whackin ya out in space ![]()
