One can easily spend a few million or more buying top quality items and trying various ships. I have on Tempest and a little over a mill on Scylla and just starting to drain my Chilastra character's bank!

If 10k-100K is a lot of cash to you, then go back to Tat bestine and work on noob missions. WOW he said 10K was a lot of cash, I am ashamed of your comment.. I walk down the street and 10k falls out of my pocket and I am not rich with my 1000000000000000000000000000000000000 credits.. LOL

With the group mission payout recalculation going into effect, 100k will be alot of money soon.

dude, JTL wasent made to bring in new players, are you kidding me?

JTL was made to bring old players back. Im willing to bet more people have quit this game, than could ever be drawn to it. Know why? This game got, and is getting, painfully bad reviews. Because lets face it, if this wasent Star Wars, if it was say... Just humans in that century, it would be by far the least appealing MMO ever created. Hell, Diablo2 has more depth than this game. But StarWars, as a skin, makes it bearable on many levels, because StarWars owns.

get it? Also, of course ships are expensive. Theyr expensive so that your forced to get into the ground game to "fund the habbit". The ground game is what will keep you paying month after month. If you did 100% space, you would be master and bored in 6 weeks because theres nothing to do.

"SWG? Multiplayer? oh yeah... If I had 1 penny for every time the phrase "solo group" was spoken in 1 single day of SWG I could retire. LOL. We'v got to face that this isent a multiplayer game, its a multiple person interaction simulation single player role playing game... So its a. MPISSPRPG. "-Me

I mean, 2k for the Chassis (Mind you this is a peice of junk chassis ont he bazzar) then 10K more to build it, thats kinda expensive especially if you are a Newbie just starting the game. How are you going to upgrade?

I was lucky however, i got to TIE by trading 20 unproggrammed driod modules for a TIE chassis (60K) now, my business isn't as popular as it was, so my funds have dropped from a cool 100K to 50K in like 3 days, i just cant see how like someone like ME can even afford to do pilot if i cant even afford my vendors/house/other sucvh things

Another thing you could try is to ask your shipwright if they will take resources in trade. If you are not an artisan to survey for yourself the shipwright most likely has a waypoint to a good location for resources he/she needs. There are ways around the monetary cost of the ship. The resources are what is costing so much so if you can bring the resources to the SW then you may be able to get a price reduction. Also most SW will purchase space loot from you that has not been RE'd. This can be anywhere from a flat fee to a certain amountper RE level.

All I can say is shop around.

Just for example last night I saw Mark II Proton Missiles that ranged in price from 5000 for 10 (the norm) up to some guy who was selling them in a crate for 9000 for 10. I have seen Chassis varying from 115,000 to 300,000 for a comparable item between vendors. Some people charge a fair price and some gouge. Its up to you to find the best deal.

I've seen some really ridiculous prices out there on Flurry, too. 150cpu steel and ore for a while until the sellers realized no one was buying, now its coming down to 5cpu to 15cpu on average. Steel was almost impossible to find for two weeks following JTL going live.

I've managed to master shipwright, though, and provide over 94 unique customers with chassis (180 or so sales of ships in 2 weeks). My prices are from 2 to 3cpu beacuse I stocked up on almost everything possible before JTL by shopping ceaslessly for days on every vendor i could visit. I picked up anything by gemstones and organics in 50 to 100k lots for 1 to 1.5 cpu and hoped it would pay off. It did.

I priced my chassis reasonably to entice my customers back for more: more components, upgrades for their chassis, new chassis, et cetera. Also, I wanted them to sell me their space loot, and they have, almost a thousand pieces now. In short, if you treat them right they will come back. I'm having so much fun as a shipwright (isn't that the point of this game?) that I've been up in my Sorosub exactly twice and never up in my TIE. Someday maybe.

My guildmates (TITANS) have been superb is helping me out, going so far as to help me collect steel and sending me locations of 90% spawns of minerals. Frequent customers that come back have been great at referring people to my shop and I see to it that they get discounts for this in the future, or outright free components.

Special thanks to Kefena (for renting 9 lots to me in my time of need at a reasonable price per week, big hugs), Ultionus (TITAN, for offering his significant stash of crap resources from his weaponsmithing business for sale to me at very reasonable prices), Stubbs (TITAN; for cluing me in on high % spawns of resources), Esaria (for her return trade and offers of space company - some day ill get up there), NEEKER/Argonaut (TITAN Guildleader; for allowing me to borrow 4 lots for harvesting), Talgen (for the hundreds of space loot items he has given to me for nothing), Rasputina (my 1st TIE Advanced Sale), Eternity (for providing my customers with astromechs and flight computers, he is a great DE), Tim-The-Toolman (for purchasing the most in one day: 1.92 million in chassis at once), for the 94 unique chassis customers that have purchased just under 11 million credits woth of chassis in just two weeks (total profit to me for the last 14 days is 1.5 million in my pocket, the rest went for materials and rents) and all the others that have made it possible for me to master shipwright and have so much fun.

Here's an option. If you don't want to pay high prices, just grind shipwright.

Or shop around. There are shipwrights charging only3 to 5cpu (in extreme cases) for chassis and parts using 900 stat resources.

yeah there are shipwrights selling chassis for 3 cpu. on sunrunner a shipwright is doing that and i gotta say this... she sells a kimo for cheap... like 100k-109k.. (everywhere else 200k-300k) and the resources are really good resources used to build the ship.

A good suit of comp armor 500k

A good gun 100k

A good droid to help you kill stuff 50k

Got my LongProbe for 120k, my X-Wing for 85k, and my A-Wing for 100k and the stats are the same as any other 600k X-Wing or 800k A-Wing. I've looked at a bunch, same stats. Some people just dont care as much about making money, it seems. Oh, got a Nova for 550k btw from a different shipwright.

I decided to do a pilot only toon.

it's not going to work.

had to grind missions on ground to get money to pay for chasis dealer fees when I got to 1111 ... (actually made more money selling AP then the missions - kind of cheesy to 'sell' AP when you are brawler 0000/marksman 0000.

I'm sure by the time I get to 3222 I wont have money for the chasis at that time.

Would you care to test out a 400 year old sword to see if it's decayed to condition 0? All the prior testers have no comment. Perhaps a gun which was used in WW I and still fires with high accuracy upto 1km?

If that doesn't get you, then start reading current military specifications for combat equipment.
