i can aim in the green recticle and all around it and the blasters just fly around the ship, i can hit the ship if i fire right at it, but all that happens is the sheilds on the target ship make a blue electircal shock, no dmg though.

I have awork around for the rectale that doesn't work. I have tested this multiple times, i even made a post and others reported it worked.

The problem is that sometypes of ships, the rectile is miss calculated by the system so it is not showing the correct placement of shots tohit.

The solution. There is two yellow dots, this is assuming you are using a mouse, not a joystick. One yellow dot is always in the center of you system. The speed, booster, ect, ect display in the center of the screen. The second yellow dot is a moving dot. it follows the target and the target rectile. This is the true location where your blaster will fire at. The whole trick to the thing, is to get both dots to meet. The closer they are, the more shots that will hit.

The invunerablity bug is really actually blamed for this problem, in fact the invunerablity happens very rarely to me at all. It still does happen, but rare.

So, go try again, and get the two dots to meet, you will see a major change in game play. I am up too 2211 now, farther than i been in beta. I take on multiple tier 3 ships all the time, that i though originally were invunerable. When i found the two dot system, the game became almost to easy since i learned many flight skills for my level.

Believe me - I had no problem hitting ships in Beta (just a couple of weeks ago). I blew plenty away (and I found it easy) If I am getting other peoples missions I'm certainly not getting any high pitched sounds when I hit them.

If I AM getting other peoples missions then why the hell am I getting shot to pieces by them? We're talking abouth the SECOND mission (locate enemy TIE) here. I'm glad I went through Beta because a Noob would be utterly confused as to what the hell he's supposed to be doing now.

It's either

a) a ridiculous bug.

Make a toon on another galaxy and see if the problem repeats there.

b) a stupid oversight. invincible "enemies" thatkill you on the SECOND mission ..come on!! I don't give a damn who they "belong" to.

There are no invicable enemies on any missions, if thata was the case most players would be still on their second misson.

I can't play. simple as that. can't kill ships = can't do missions.

Sorry for the ranting.. I'm not normally agressive.. I just wish I could get it out of my system by shooting a single goddamn ship up.

Guys, this is NOT an issue with shooting other peoples' mission targets, or a simple client server sync. It is an invurnerability issue that makes the game wholly unplayable for many people. Some samples of guilds that I've heard of suggest that over 5% of the guild's membership is having this problem. When three ships spawn as you cross a waypoint, the game tells you that you have to destroy three ships, and there's nothing else around for miles, then they procede to shoot at you, and you frequently get comm broadcasts of "Take that, , then tell me that I'm just too stupid and shooting the wrong ship.

This is closely linked to two other bugs, being a much more severe version of the ship warping bug that is generated by lag, which is often to the point that the ship will not stay on your screen for more than a second at a time (it's impossible to move into position to shoot anywhere near them, much less, get a good enough aim to get a hit), and another bug where the game will not register that you're shooting at all (your weapon recharge indicator will not go down no matter how many shots you fire). Furthermore, the invurnerability issue occurs even while shooting at an immobile target while stationary, even if you sit in place for 5 minutes waiting to let the server completely sync up.

Probably part of the reason that the devs haven't done anything about this bug, or even mentioned it, despite the fact that some people have had it since Beta, and others since Day 1 of JTL launch is the fact that they're listening to these wasted posts that say we're just n00bs who shoot at other peoples' missions. I've been playing video games since the 80's, and I don't think this one is just too complex for me to know what I'm supposed to shoot at and what I'm not. Furthermore, I do not get any of the audio or visual indicators, that for example, I would get while tryinig to shoot another player's ship, or a ship that I knew for a fact came from someone else's mission. There is already an 8 page post on these three related issues here http://forums.station.sony.com/swg/board/message?board.id=lightspeed&message.id=125729 that suggests that it is some kind of hardware and/or software issue on the client side.

Getting someone who isn't having the bug to "help" me isn't exactly an alternative either, since I don't want to have to find someone to do the shooting for me on every mission from now til master Imperial Pilot. Could you imagine doing the entire grind to master an elite combat profession without once being able to swing your own weapon?

So in the name of all that is holy, don't assume that you are some ub3r 1337 d00d who is in the minority of those smart enough to aim at the right targets. A baboon could figure that one out. Ugh.

I think I've been having these problems too, though it's only occasionally. I'm currently a 1111 Reb pilot, and every once in a while on duty missions my shots simply don't affect my target. I see the shots, going at the ship, pass THROUGH THE SHIP, and do nothing. Again, this doesn't happen all the time, and didn't while I was playing gunner for a friend. Are you guys having it all the time?

What is the damage output of your weapon?

The starter ship tends not to do enough damage t oget around the sheilds unless you are real good at targeting and continually hitting them.

Does the sheild percent ever drop on the ship you targeted?

Just curiouse on these cause i know i had to upgrade t oget a noticable damage on teir 2 ships.

This has happened to a privateer friend of mine. She was on escort duty and couldnt attack the pirates shooting at her. She grouped me and I finished them off... I am an imp pilot. But I DO know that she was having a problem with the mission targets.

Have you tried getting a buddy to assist you? Maybe someone of a different faction?

This is a different problem. Her problem is a mission bug for tier 4 privateers that started on tattooine.
