not one of them confirms your argument the top bottom invunerability is well known but you claim you cant hit it any were meaning you have a 100% diferant problem maby your the one who needs to read considering all the poeple you see fighting in space shooting up ships so not one of them post concenrs your statement of not being able to hit it even aiming head on or at the back end cause i know 100% as a fact playing chicken with them can blow them up real quick leading them and staying on their side takes them down fast shooting them straight up the arse and blasting the engin off also works so maby its either you aint actualy found out how to play thw game since one 1 of the posts you said you didnt even know what leading a target was.

Look, genius. Someone stated that it might be the top/bottom invunerablity bug. Going by first impressions, I thought that was it.If you READ carefully, someone else said that it was a different BUG....the same one I quoted you. I now believe that bug is the one that's causing it.

Also, I should not have to worry about leading, when the graphics are showing MY SHOTS HITTING THE FREAKING TARGET. Am I to assume that I need to be shooting into blank space to hit the target? I don't think so. I lead them enough so they can get hit. I shouldn' t have to lead 20-30m to hit my target. That is just ludicrious, and suggests something is wrong.

Is that so hard to understand?

This is a BUG. Plain and simple. The fact that you can play it flawlessly does not take away from the fact that this is a PROBLEM.

Mind..dont worry mate, ur not going mad, imsuffering the same bug as off this morning. Myself and a friend both went to our favourite lok spawn spot and she was taking out teir 3 ships in 6-7 hits and I (in a more powerful ship) was not even denting them after 10 mins of point blank and all mannner of tactics.

This isa bug guys im 1211 pilot and last might all was good. I know all the rules but I have thouraghly tested it and its bugged to hell but random in who its effecting better just log a bug in game.

All I can say is do what im doing..wait it out...Its a new game and will be a bit bugged, I gues its just unlucky that we are suffering, but it will pass. Try sticking to teir 1 and 2 stuff as I have found for some reason I can get some damage on them and at least slowly keep progressing even though its prolly a 1 in 3 hit scenario.

I noticed something else. Someone was doing their mission and defending a cargo ship. I could not attack his enemies. I also got that strange beeping sound which means I can't damage them. When the guy got killed by his mission enemies, I could now attack them and finish them off. So they weren't fair game for me until the mission holder was dead. Just more information, I hope it helps.

Well, I had quite a bit of trouble at the start too and was wondering why I couldn't hit anything even though I thought I was leading the target properly (turns out I wasn't). I'm now 1111, so here's a helpful hint as far as the leading issue: do not try to aim exactly for the crosshairs with your reticle (the one exception to this is when it's smack dab on an immobile target that you're flying straight towards). Using this plus sign ( + ) as an example with top being north, bottom being south, etc. follow along as I attempt to describe what to do. Let's say you get behind aTIE fighter (and it's important to try to get behind them, learn to use your roll right & roll leftappropriately!), and he's heading "northwest". Imagine the crosshair in a circle and try to aim for the very edge of the southeastern point with the reticle. Depending on the speed, you may have to aimeither more to the "southeast" so that you end up outside of this imaginary circle and closer to the TIE fighter (up to halfway in between or less based on speed) OR you may have to try for a tighter shot and aim closer to the center of the crosshairs (inside the "circle"). Needless to say, a lot depends on where you and the target are in relation to each other(for example, depending on the direction you're coming from, you may have to aim "northwest" of the "circle"). It's hard to give a really accurate description of what to do, as you just kind of have to get a feel for it. I should point out that once you do manage 1111, it sure doesn't get easier when you get that new trainer (I got schooled with those Yavin 4 missions, ouch! Do invest in an astromech at that point or flight comp as the case may be & make sure toreverse engineer whatever space loot you manage to get).Anyway, hope that wassomewhat useful (oh yeah, and do use the target component command, makes life a bit easier).

Let me just dump in here and say a guildie of mine is suffering from exactly this problem as well... leading, trailing whatever it dosnt matter, hes not doing any damage while i take them out in 3-4 shots.

I helped him do some missions and at one point i disabled a ship for him to test on.. the enemy fighter was dead in the water, he fired at it from several different angles but nothing happend.. except for the enemy fighter slowly regenerating its shields.. so this is definatly some bug going on here, even if it hits rarely and randomly.

As far as the crosshairs go, they're accurate for me. I'm on a dialup connection and if I center the crosshairs on the leading target and keep it there, I keep hitting right on the money. I did notice though that if I start getting packet loss or slightly higher ping times, I have to change it just a bit but not much. for the most part the leading target is just right.

Here's what I don't get: why canit attack me if I can't attack it?

I was running the very first newbie patrol mission (privateer for RSF). I took out the Black Sun pirates with no problem... but once I'd finished, I noticed that I was still being shot at by one ship.

Although it was larger, faster, and more maneuverable than my little starter ship, I managed to get angle on it and hit it a few times, only to hear the buzz that says "this ship is invulnerable." I had no idea if this was a player (I'm not overt, and I wasn't in Deep Space or Kessel, so how could someone be able to shoot at me?), or an NPC ship.

After playing that game for several minutes, I decided the only thing I could do was try to hightail it for the nearest space station and land. So off I run, spinning and rolling at top speed for all I'm worth, still taking the occasional shot, until I arrived at the space station (where I discovered that they have their own shields, which was nice).

So what's the deal here? How is it that I can be zapped by a ship I can't touch?

Thank you, Boardtroll! At last, finally, someone posts what should have been the obvious-to-anyone tactic that

can be used to prove what's going on conclusively.

1. Hook up with a buddy who'd not having this problem. Have him target a Tier 1 ship'sengines or reactorand disable it.

2. Person with problem sits 10 meters away from the immobilized ship's windshield and holds down the fire button

till his capacitor is drained.

If you're not able to destroy the ship than it simply can't have anything to do with net connection, "leading" or piloting

ability, someone else's target etc... there is some kind of fundamental game bug with your software or account

that prohibits you from damaging any ship in any way. Period.

A buddy of mine is thoroughly disgusted with JTL since he hasn't been able to destroy a single ship since he

got the game last week. I'm not going to say this bug is what's getting him...after all itISa twitch game that requires

some degree of dexterity, but I'm not ruling it out.

At least now I know that this scenario is a possibility, so when we finally get together and group up I'll be sure to

apply the above tactic to verify if he's got the problem or not.

Same thing happens to me. Unable to damage most anything. tried leading, tailing all angles speeds, etc etc. I have done my research and tried all the reccomendations...Know all about the various bugs. Had grouped friends disable ships..nothing. This is not a skill based thing I assure you. This is a bug plain and simple. It would just be nice to hear someone from SOE respond to us to see when we're going to get it resolved.

Side Note: If you dont have the problem whats the sense in even cluttering this thread and otherswith the "It works for me..you are not doing it right, you suck" comments. I think there is enough evidence out there to support anyone's claim that this is in fact a bug. A very small minority of players have it and it is real. We are just trying to play the game same as all of you. Fortunately enough people are experienceing the same problem as me so I know i'm not crazy or a bad pilot.

Devs, TH....can you weigh in.....anyone?

Let me just say that I'm getting the same thing.

This isn't Pilot error or a lack of understanding of flight principles. It's not that people aren't leading the target, aiming for the reticle, or anything else pilot or ship related. It's a bug, and it's one that needs to be fixed before everyone who suffers it goes mad. My ship has been destroyed 20+ times due to this bug. Here's exactly how it happens for me:

I'm Privateer, Corsec, Teir 3, 2322, Missions on Lok. (So I'm not an expert, but certainly not a newbie)

I pick up my mission and fly to Dathomir for my target. Target is a Freighter. Itake it out. Next waypoint is a Black Sun Hyperspace Jump. I go there, and three Teir 3 fighers drop out of hyperspace. If I'm LUCKY I can destroy two of the three before the bug takes hold and I do NO DAMAGE whatsoever. Another wave of 3 fighters drop in. I have done this mission 10+ times and each time the bug is fully in effect by the second wave of fighters. ONCE I managed to destroy all three in the first wave, but as soon as the second wave came in the bug showed up and I couldn't damage them. I, however, can take damage from them... and do. Bug is there, can't kill ships, third wave comes in. I now have 6 Tier 3 fighers coming for me, and I can't damage any of them. I try switching targets, I try boosting out and doubling back, I try everything I can. One interesting thing to note is that, when I have missle lock, misslesdo damage even when the bug is there.

I once managed to complete that part of the mission by hypering out just as the mission was completing (don't need to destroy them just fend them off for a time). However, the next phase of that same mission I have to fight two more waves of 3 fighers. I can't kill them, so I book for my meeting point and dock with the ship I need to... taking damage the whole time. I manage to get the dock complete, and 5 MORE fighters drop out of hyperspace. Now I have ELEVEN ships, all teir 3, gunning for me and I can't do a damn thing.

Two words: Game Breaking. I can't advance because I need this mission to fill my next box. This mission is impossible while the bug is in effect. I don't know why it's there... I don't know if it is a connection issue or if it's something to do with my computer setup. The bottom line is that it'sa bug, and if it's not fixed then I'll be taking my 400+ day account and cancelling it.

When you target an enemy ship, a (for me) green box appears infornt of the ship with a dot in the center.

When you aim at the ship, you don't aim directly at the ship. You aim at the green box infront of the ship. He then flys into your shot. The closer to the dot in the center of the green box, the more likely you are to hit. I hit almost 90% of the time.

I love thesound is in this game. You can actually hear the armor being hit on your target when the shields are gone.
