NO MATTER HOW HARD OR WILDLY YOU MANUVER THE NPC PILOTS NEVER, NEVER, NEVER, NEVER MISS!
Um... yeah they do. I evade just fine thanks.
Gotta agree here. I see laser bolts miss me all the time.

Ga3la1n, I hate to say it, but mabye your evasive maneuvers aren't qutie evasive enough? I've had to run from NPC ships before, and I've actually recently run for 7k with guys on my tail the entire way. In that time, I took only 1 or 2 stray hits, with most of the blasts flashing past harmlessly. The key is to ensure that there isn't a pattern to your evasion, and that it is quick. If you persist in one direction in your juking for too long, they will track and hit you. Now, I admit that the aim of some of thelower mobs might be a bit overdone for their supposed skill level, but they most defiantely can be evaded with soem practice.

I agree that NPCs are a bit too accurate, however, I've had them miss me plenty of times if I'm in a fairly fast ship (such as the Z-95). If I'm piloting my Y-Wing, then they almost alway hit me because the craft is so slow and I can't dodge very well with it.
But that's not the major problem with NPCs. A big problem is how they're always circling around you (me, atleast) and it's really hard to hit them, especially if you're in a slow craft and can't keep up with your enemies.

I think the problem is the TIE Aggressor. I'm in an A-Wing and can maneuver quite well. Aggressors, however, tear me up. They do not hit 100%, but they're uncannily accurate. To take one down is a significant endeavor. Now, if I can take down a Tier 5 Oppressor, I should be able to take down a Tier 4 Aggressor. Dunno.
I've also noticed that NPCs do not seem to be confined to "straight" blasters. Several times, I've watched an NPC hit me when his/her blaster *when it fired* was off by more than 15 degrees.

Actually, NPC pilots miss quite a bit. If they didn't we'd never get anywhere in JtL.
You have to remember that their aim is very good and usually they tend to have the speed and meneuverability advantage, but they don't have brains.
If they're coming at me, I usually make them miss by approaching at an odd angle and doing slight "dips" during my approach. This really messes them up.
If they're behind me, I drop my speed to whatever is optimal for that ship and try to make tight turns and perform evasive tactics until I get behind them... they'll miss a lot during this.
The hardest is if they're behind you and you're running away because you're about to blow up. For this, I usually go full thrust and hit the booster. Since turns are bad at this speed, I try to get them to miss by making slight shifts in bearing and generally moving around the screen in small amount to remain a moving target. Once the hyperdrive is nearing completion, I turn it, and engage at close range to try to buy the last 5-7 seconds.
If you fly around like crazy to make them miss, there's actually a good chance you'll get hit because many times while it may look like you're flying around like a nut, you're really just spinning in one general area - in that case your evasive tactics make you even easier to hit!

And on top of the other tips the other players are saying.
The only times i normally get below half on my shields are when there are 6+ ships around me. For some reason, i ALWAYS get swarmed by ships after killing a couple of waves.
Before +6 ships showed up i had no issues, but when there are 6+ ships shooting at you from all angles, there is almost NO way to dodge them all, and it appears that you're getting hit non stop.
Pay attention to how many ships there are around you, it may appear that it's the same ship shooting you when it's actually more than one.

Wait till u go up against 6+ tie agressors... talk about unfair. Espicaly since thier turrets are 360 degrees yet it only points to the rear lame lame lame

the NPC ship miss all the time.I see laser bolts go past my a-wing all the time.
But some of the higher tier's NPC dont missi much but thats the point, aint it. the get harder and more accurat.
IMO the NOC ahip'a are to easy.I think they should actualy crank up the difficulty on them. not many ships i cant bea in my a-wing. no matter if it's lvl4 - 5 gunnboats or ties whatever. i seem to winn all the time in a fight.
Not saying anyone is a bad pilot.but maybe give it some time.

I guess my point is that they should behave more like living pilots, who make errors, misjudgements and sometimes don't perform up to the task at hand. There is not much variety in the behavior of any of the NPCs at any level other than the fact that the higher levels shoot more accurately.

Its easier to program a perfect AI that makes no mistakes then it is to program an AI that makes mistakes

Are you sure about the turret being 360? I got an aggressor last night, and my gunner reported that he had a limited firing view and could only shoot to the back and sides.
There is, however, another gun mounted on the front of the aggressor (for the pilot), so it's quite possible that it's alternating guns to plug at you no matter where you are.
Those aggressors are mean little fishies! ![]()

the NPCS are 360 degree's the player ships arent. A tie agressor was ablte to attack me while I was in front of him to his right wiht his turret and the only reason I know this was casue I was trying to get a screen shot of me on his side and nex thing I know I see a green laser come from his right side like it was from the rear turrent through the solar sail
