Thread: Future ships for JTL.

You have to ask yourself - would you rather limit the number of ships in the game or add a bunch of cool ships that will be fun to fly and help diversify the ships so that everyone is not in the same ship? I mean if we follow continuity, then the Rebels can only have the Y-Wing and the X-Wing. The Empire can ony have the TIE Fighter. Han is the only one with a YT-1300. JTL would suck horribly with only three ships forever. This is a game and I would hate to make a crummy game since we said we can't have this ship "since its too old," or a sentence in one EU book says YT-1300s are rare. Should we slavishly follow one sentence in one book and say "Oh no! This book says no more YT-1300s! Looks like we lose out on a cool Star Wars experience since that one sentence in that one book said so." Why does a game have to follow some kind ofarbitrary thoughtlike this? We should add stuff to make the game fun, not go out of our way to kill it and ruin it.

Now for something fun. The F-14 Tomcat is still in use by the military today. Those have been around since the 80s at least. They are continually updated to have the best electronics and equipment so you can make an arguement that N-1s and other craft could be continually updated as well. But why should I have to use a "realworld scenario" to build a case for a video game? I don't.

But lets face it - continuity can be a bad thing. I want to see B-Wings and A-Wings for the fun of flying them, for the tactical and strategic situations that can develop, and for the shear thrill of not seeing everyone in the same three ships. I want the N-1, the Firespray, the Jedi Starfighter and hundreds of other ships for the complete Star Wars experience. I don't give a d**n that some rare and arcane sentence or two in an EU book says no. I'm sure that the author of the book would not have put that in if they realized that sentence affected this game negatively. I also don't care that ships are supposed to be too old or not made yet. That was stuff made up years ago at the drop of a hat. I'm sure that the people who dreamed up the Shantipole Project for the B-Wing would have placed it earlier in the timeline had they realized that people actually cared about that stuff and would fight to the death to not let the B-Wing in! We should not keep sacred some thing that was made up like that but holds us back from having a good time! Would you really have a good time in your TIE Fighter that has no shields and hyperdrive? Would you enjoy the dogfights when X-Wings with shields can whoop you everytime since you can't modify your TIE? You would explode in one quad shot. Thats some fun right there. Would you enjoy it if the only capital ship you saw was an ISD?

You know, by continuitys logic, Dantooine, Yavin, Endor, and Dathomir would be offlimits to us. You know, I really enjoy those planets. I really like having the option to go someplace different with cool things to do. You know, by continuitys logic that there are only two sets of Mandalorian armor and that the Mandalorians are all dead. Bye DWB. You must also know, that why the heck are there Geonosians on Yavin? Doesn't make sense to continuity. But dang, I'm having a great time in the lab. As well, the fact that any species can join the Empire is an affront to continuity right? But I'm glad to see anyone in the Empire nowadays. They need all the help that they can get since only 80% of the SWG is neutral. Oh, and all that stuff about the Jedi that you hate? I'm no Jedi myself, I've always wanted to be a Han Solo-esque smuggler in a YT-1300, but I'm glad they have a cool Jedi Council and that people can roleplay the Jedi like the movies spotlight. I could care less that the movies say a few exist. The EU has them all over the place in the same timeline this game is in. This is a game first and foremost and I want to see people happy and use a lightsaber if they want to. One can make an arguement to eliminate everything in this game from continuitys standpoint.

It is my belief that this game is the Holy Grail of all Star Wars games. Encompassing all of the great games of the past - Shadows of the Empire, X-Wing, TIE Fighter, X-Wing vs. TIE Fighter, X-Wing Alliance, Dark Forces, Jedi Knight, Jedi Outcast, Rebellion, Starfighter, Jedi Starfighter, Rogue Squadron, Rogue Leader, Rebel Strike and on and on and on. Star Wars Galaxies can take everything in those games and make it the most awesome Star Wars experience ever. I want the Devs to throw everything in the Star Wars universe into this game. Why should a game follow a plotline that can't be altered, that can't change for the better? Why should anyone fight for the Empire if they have no chance to emerge victorious? Why should anyone fight for the Rebellion if it will win the war anyway without their help? Why not give us the tools to live the Star Wars experience? Why follow a figurative line in the sand? If a guy wants to pilot a N-1 why not let him? I want to be a smuggler with a YT-1300. Who is to say that that is not possible because some author in some book said they were rare? Really, he dictates my playing experience? Since the vast majority of players wants this game to be all it can be, why don't we let it be so and quit haggling over continuity. The same story does not need to be retold the same way over and over again to be good. Sometimes exaggeration, ingenuity and invention make it better the next time around,

I'd like to see the Black Sun's ship, the StarViper, in the game. Prince Xizor himself flied one, and to any of you who have played Shadows of the Empire and beaten the game, yeah, those ships in the end are StarVipers.

Maybe like, make a schematic for a StarViper fighter chassis drop from Black Sun spacecraft (assuming that the Black Sun will have presence in JTL as well)? I can assure you that I'd be one happy camper with one of those,

Definitely the N-1. It just a good-looking craft, and a "want to" for any Nabooian.

Firespray for all the Wannabe-BH.

More Tramp Frighters.. the YT-Series.

Great post.

It would be boring with only 3 ships, 2 cap ships and 4-8 profs in this game.

In terms of fighters, I'd love to see (in the distant future) the Yuuzhan Vong Coral Skippers... how they are described with black holes that eat up Blaster Fire... oooh, that'd be fun to shoot down! And seriously, man, Suncrushers? DeathStars? Idiocy! "Whoops, I blew up Tatooine. You gain 5305389473294837948324 Newb XP, 345938573984734 Combat XP." It would be nice to see Player controlled Star Destroyers and Rebel Medical Frigates... kinda like player cities. Player made space colonies would be nifty... Y-Wings would be cool, too.

1)The rumor that lucas is putting in N-1's in episode 4 dvd is just that a rumor....(if you have an authentic article that says what he will be adding to the movies, please feel free to post a link)

2)Jedi Starfighters are just as old as the N-1s and actually became the bases for the TIE fighters...so they're already in the game.....just as TIE fighters

3)B-wings should be in...i don't see why not

4)If they put in Vong ships...that'd be the end of the game for me....they don't get here till 30-40 years AFTER our current time period, and there's pratically no way to kill them...no way

5)Suncrushers? can i buy some of what ever it is your smoking? Again the FIRST and i believe ONLY suncrusher to ever be produced was AFTER RotJ (again, we're based between ANH and ESB)

If you're going to make suggestions on what you'd like to see or what you'd think we will see, atleast make them plausable.

My suggestion would be the XG-1 Star Wing, those babies were so much fun to fly/kill

The NGE is a decent start. Now lets bring the rest of the worlds up to par with Tatooine and Mustafar

I feel that as long as it feels Star Warsy, then it doesn't really matter.

I'm sure everyone who's played previous SW games have found they're not totally tru to the films, which were'nt totally true to the books.

Just my opinion.
