Decay also keeps all the uber guilds and people with loads of money from stockpiling and thus being practically invinsible all the time, if Glitterstim would do a full buff. It is a perfectly safe way to keep demand high, stockpiling low, and the danger involved especially when scanners are added, giving the best smugglers, not just people who hit novice or take the Dirty Fighting line, a more competive market. I can just imagine myself doing a successful Kessel Run and come back with a supply to sell to a very eager customer(s) and I get stopped by customs.

One drawback to decay, you do not want it to be so fast that for some smugglers all they end up doing is going back and forth between Kessel and where ever they sell, and then the customer needs to take it once it's delivered. And you don't want it so slow that it no longer becomes as valuable because people would have a small stockpile of it.

For example: I recent sold 725 units of Muon Gold to a gentleman. He has enough to last him until next Christmas (so he says). Now I don't use drugs myself but I have a feeling that if I take drugX a year after buying it then it won't be so good. So my proposal for decay is that the units don't actually disappear over time but the effects of the spice change. Wait to long and you might incap yourself. On the flipside, take it right away for the best effects.

Oh man the Han Solo trilogy is the best set of Star Wars books I;'ve ever read and it's what made me want to be a smuggler in the first place!

Great to know it's the inspiration for some of you other smugglers out there

if hyperspace is required then tie ln's might get the shaft. other than that though i think all ships should be able to do it.

The Kessel Run is based on distance. Due to the number of black holes, most ships plot a long, covaluted course course that is safe. On the other hand, plotting a shorter distance course is faster but runs the risk of getting sucked into a black hole. Hans 12 parsecs or whatever is the smallest known distance to get from Kessel to free space.

Unless they implement the black holes and have serious concequences of getting sucked into a black hole, the Kessel Run will be a useless activity.

It is a playability issue. The TIE fighters in the movies main advantage besides speed is numbers. The number of TIE fighters vastly outnumbered other ships. 3-1 and higher was standard practice. But when you go to an MMORPG, you have a single player in a TIE with no wingmen, no overwelming numbers and thus need to be brought on-par with the other ships.

For this reason, play balance, TIEs now get hypershpace travel and shields. The alternative would be to give TIE fighters 4-6 NPC wingman but that probably has other more serious issues connected to it..

It's also based on the high level of danger. Well, that's been booted already.

You can't have a space expansion without the kessel run. we really dont know what it entails since han never gives a specific description. although im sure there's EU material that gives an accurate rundown of what it involves. i think if it was implemented the same way swoop tracks are on the ground where u can obtain a badge by having the fastest time would great. the kessel system is in place all we need is the kessel run!!
