My two cents? It got thrown in because it was in Episode II, not because of any real Star Wars significance. Makes you wonder why the RSF doesn't get the Naboo N-1 starfighter...

They may yet. I haven't read a thread yet where a dev said that there would be no new starships added.

Yeah, that would be a very cool beginner ship for the RSF. Dunno what CorSec would use, but I doubt it'd be a Hutt fighter. Leave those things to us in the Smuggler's Alliance. =)

Very true. Since the Corsec would be rebel-aligned, it should at least be a Z95 of sorts.

Getting back on the original topic I agree completely, I’m seriously thinking of giving up on privateer, but will wait until I master and things settle down a bit.

The Kimogila and Rihkxark are Heavy fighters not bombers, privateer’s have no bombers, and they are exactly the same ship except for the mass, making the Kimogila useless once you have the Rihkxark. This is a shame as I think the Kimogila is the best looking fighter the Privateer’s have.

The Dunelizard and Ixiyen are almost the same, with the Ixiyen being slightly heavier and the Dunelizard being slightly more maneuverable. Neither being a serious challenge to other ships of similar mass or maneuverability.

And Privateer has no USABLE Light fighter the Kihraxz and Scyk both have such low masses that you cant seriously use them once you advance.

In the EU corsec used mostly Z95's I currently playing as Smugglers Alliance (was on Tat when I started JTL) so not sure how their story line goes. The Z95 in the EU was orginally more a smugglers and police type ship. It was not uncommon to find smugglers flying modified Z95's and many police forces used them. The rebels tended to stay with the X-wings and such being as they were moremilitarly designed.

What's the point of Reactor Overload when we can't put enough stuff on our ship to max out the reactor energy anyway, except for very low-end equipment? I think, if anything, it's a good program to burn off onto chips and sell to Imps and especially Rebels who can't find a reactor powerful enough to power all the high-end weapons they can load up.

/eyebrow

I have the opposite problem atm. I have a Rhyk and can put all lvl 6-7 components in it. I can put Mark III missile launcher in there with 3 2000 damage guns in it and won't overload the mass. But, I have a 13k reactor in it, and it just goes over by about 400.

well, Mark IV reactors (14000+)should be the solution to that, though you might have trouble fitting it in.

1st let me get droid programs out of the way. We get one. Reactor overload. Nothing useful like transfer shields (rebels)or weapon power boost (Imps.) Personally I think transferring shield power from front to back should be available to everyone. However, since other people can burn programs onto your chips, this can be overlooked . . . especially since our ships don't have enough mass to fit a droid interface on anyways.

as far as i know at least in beta they may have fixed it but if you have a rebel or imp pilot burn the chip for you you can use thier droid programs ie power to shields or power to weaps course the trade offf is the imps have reactor spike so they wouldnt be willing to trade however a rebel probably would for reactor over load might come in handy for some of thier abilities

again i havent tested this theory in live yet so it may be a moot point but if its possible it would kinda nullify the program argument

I don't understand. It seems like you need to re-read my post, or need to re-read yours You say unless it's changed, that rebels and imps can burn programs on your chips. Well, I said that too, you even quoted me I said that because of that, crappy droid programs can be overlooked for now If I'm reading your post wrong though, tell me.

I should apologize for my last couple of posts I have gotten off topic. With that in mind I will comment on the original topic of this post, Issues with Privateer.

Me too. Sorry.

I've been a master smuggler for a long, long time. So, it kinda goes without saying that I'm going te be Privateer. But, I'm always up for a good challenge.

You say the abovelike PvP as a Privateer is near impossible. I definitely agree that it will be more difficult, but I'm one that loves a good challenge. At first, I was upset that I couldn't use my good components in my craft.

But, eventually, I will be able to. I dunno. I can't wait to see how the YT-1300 handles. I love to, ideally, have a MP ship and a decent medium fighter to use as master, though, and I just don't think I'll be able to with the components that I want.

That being said, I do like the fact that flying what I've been stuck with has afforded methe opportunity to hone my skills moreso than rebels or imperials, and that "twitch" is what will determines ultimately who come out on top in PvP, regardless of lvl of components.

Also, keep in mind, I have some lvl 6 components that out-perform some lvl 9 and 10 components I have.

Just a couple comments. 1st of all, as PvP is now . . . all fights last for one salvo. Basically, if i'm in a Rihk with 3 guns, and my opponent is in an awing with one . . . I win. Period (unless I'm a REALLY bad shot ) Unless he has a mark III proton launcher, in which case it'll be a draw. But this is an entirely different issue. Until PvP is fixed, there's no point in talking about it.

2ndly, I've flown the YT. It handles like a brick . . . wrapped in concrete . . . wrapped in lead . . . filled with gold bars. It doesn't matter that you can fit the best stuff in it . . . because, as I said, PvP lasts about one second. As for PvE . . . hope you have outstanding gunners, because you won't be dodging crap

Well, im not far into privateer yet, but heres my thoughts:

Number 1 problem i think right now is with parts. SW's are into chassis, and not enough are into making good parts. The market has not matured yet, so its going to be rough for awhile. (not to mention dev adjustments on player made parts which are bound to happen)

Anyway, i think its all about min/maxing your ship, and theres going to be some serious trade offs. For example Front armor later on i'll probably strip off completely and just leave a light rear armor only... but its gonna be about getting weight reduced parts from a good SW, and those parts aint there yet as near as i can tell.

Ultimately i think privteer will have to overload the power requirements before the ships mass if thats even possible. Kinda like a bunch of hot rodders souping up old coups

How does that thing handle? like a brick?

Im staying privateer no matter what though.

1.) I can play with/on whatever side i want

2.) I already have the jaba theme park done, and i'll be damned if im gonna let myself get ganked by having to do an imp or rebel one.
