Thread: Ace or the Ace game, who really is the top pilot on your server, in your faction?

Well truewildman maybe we should push this idea out.
Kill counters for PC/NPC kills, that are wearable, paintable and/or can be included in your Bio for all to see your accomplishments.
PvEers can track how good they are at NPCs
PvPers can track there skill with humans.
And inbetweeners can measure both.
And those that dont care don't even need to use it.

A single spot or pip on a playing card, die, or domino.
A playing card, die, or domino having one spot or pip.
A serve that one's opponent fails to hit.
A point scored by such a serve.
The act of hitting a golf ball in the hole with one's first shot.
A military aircraft pilot who has destroyed five or more enemy aircraft.
An expert in a given field.
The master box for pilot currently gives an ace jacket, an ace helmet and the title of ace pilot. Personally, I find since completing the mission simply denotes you outclassed the game AI, it's not really appropriate to reward players with the title of "Ace". Am I an "Ace" pilot because I've completed this mission? I don't particularly feel like one, as there really is nothing to guage my progress aside from completion of the mission. Sure, I can pvp and total my wins/losses and reach a determination, but this does nothing for actually showing off your prowess. Now, before people harp on wanting to show off, let's be clear that most people do. The reason they put their "Ace" titles up is to accomplish that, like a status symbol, somewhat. What I'm asking for is something to differentiate between "Aces" who simply complete a relatively easy mission, and true masters of space combat.
That being said, would it be possible, or fun for the developers to include a wearable reward for true "Aces" on a server? In World War 2 there was the Red Baron, a famous german Ace, would it be possible to reward the top PVE and PVP pilot with something like this? Something like a jacket that would only be in the top player's inventory, and automatically transferred to someone who overtook him? I think it would be fun to be in constant competition for the "yellow jacket" so to speak.
The basis for the reward is up for debate, and let's discuss that here. I'd say most PVP and a separate ace reward for PVE tier 5 kills, but I'm sure there are holes in that theory. Any ideas? Devs? This sort of thing is a simple and ongoing game, it's basically content that everyone will continually take part in and hopefully have fun with. It's also entirely voluntary. Well?

todays history lesson-the red baron was a World War I Ace Fighter pilot.
more info, last i recall he was not a good pilot as in skill in *flight* but he was a very good shot in a aircraft and inthe combat of the time thats all you needed.

Not too bad. We could work on that with ease. Problem I see with the PvE portion is what counts as a kill? I one-shot Tier 1 and2 ships but I don't feel those should count on my NPC kill list if you know what I mean. Perhaps there should be a randomly generated list of NPC names where people can take missions in Space from their respective trainer to hunt down. Kinda like a bounty system for NPCs for the PvErs.
I am all for PvP. There should be a tabulation (never used that word before) of how many you have taken down. As an active space combantant on Gorath, it is an honor to notice people recognize you for your skill. However, people will try to exploit the system but it will backfire on them when the people that fight legitly wipe the floor with them It is a good start.
The only problem is how do you distiguish a possibility of a PvPer who is afk ad you kill him?
This is why this count should only apply to PvP zones only. Sorry, if you go AFK in an attackable zone you are prone to attack no matter what. Granted, there is still the ability to hyper out if something comes up. The same applies in the Jedi system about BHs. AFK or not (now if you are LD, that is a different story) you are still attackable.
Just have the total count NPC and PC how you got em isn't a concern there are potential "weak" kills on both sides let's not nitpick just have a raw count, let people draw there own conculsions.
Alot of people are competitive and will try to cheat the system and sit in the Lok system and just pummel everything in their path. I was giving more to the PvE community with more story driven missions (although very simple). Nothing but getting a bunch of friends to go take down a crime boss surrounded by a few gunboats
Just an idea, a simple one.

Well the point is that is an easy kill but that should count and a teir 4 pilot killing a tier 1 NPC shouldnt. My point is just have the raw count, no need to over complicate things

Perhaps the tally begins at master, much like prestige points, and PvE'ers get counts for Tier 5 kills and PvP'ers getcounts for kills in a PvP zone.
Like was mentioned above, if you go afk in a PvP zone, you're just a fool and deserved to be killed. ![]()
The thing is, thetallies will be tens of thousands eventually, not mere hundreds. So a few questionable kills will not substantially affect the final result of the ratio, and the law of averages will prevail.
