The poor programming with the new Jump to Lightspeed release (The update for that release made it impossible for us to move or communicate in game for over a week. The lack of being able to play cost us 6 harvesters and a factory for lack of maintenance.)
Poor programming indeed. It takes them MONTHS to come out with new content, and when it does come out, it's all bugged and causes mass hysteria. JTL is also a joke. What the heck are you supposed to do when you master the piloting profession. Good luck out there in the real world. I'll see if I can stick out a few more months to see if there is light at the end of the tunnel.

I love you armchair developers who think it is poor programming. I would wager that 99% of you people who claim the devs are using poor programming couldn't code a simple math program yourself. SWG is an immense game and very impressive in the least.

I myself have no clue how to program and I think the devs are doing a great job.

I would achieve a level of competence in programming before I completely denounce someone's programming skill. I would also achieve that same level before I critiqued another's comments regarding that same level of competence. I have been a professional programmer and software architect for well over 15 years (a hobbyist programmer MUCH longer) and I will not comment on the developer's or the architect's skills, as I have never seen the code. I will say this - SWG has never been an amazingly "stable" product. It has had balance issues, missing content, significant bugs, and TREMENDOUS gameplay since its launch, for crying out loud they have to reboot every silly server at least once a day. I think it is safe to say there is great deal of quality in design, but not as much care has been given to execution. For example: the phenomenal depth of changes (and their balance implications) introduced into the product less than a week before launch. This violated every known standard for stable design and development I have ever seen or heard of. For myself, I will probaly try JTL after they have the 6-8 weeks of dev-test-production cycles that should have happened in beta. I wish everyone luck who is staying, JTL was fun to play during beta and no doubt will continue to be. I sympathize with the initial author of this thread and have also cancelled all three of my accounts to wait for the gameplay to stabilize (no sense in paying for frustration).

My only real complaint in SWG involves the CSRs. I am really tired of attempting to be a GOOD/POLITE PAYING citizen of the SWG community and reporting the problems in a constructive manner (lots of details/no flames) only to be mistreated, or blown off. I am a working professional and a paying customer. I greatly RESENT SOE employees insinuating that I am trying to cheat the system or that I "lost" my items. I do not spend MY time inventing ways to harrass, cheat, exploit, or break the game. I am not alone in my desire to simply be allowed to play the game without regular interruption of gameplay-breaking bugs (or at least be able to report them), my guild is primarily made up of married guys, many even have children of their own, from late twenties to early forties who all just enjoy playing the game together. We do not tolerate cheating and don't pay a monthly fee to exploit a system. I am tired of being told by customer representatives that their inability to track operations that happen in their database is a "perfectly satisfactory" reason to ignore my problem due to "preventing exploiters". I pay a lot of money every month to PLAY the game, not CHEAT it. I only open a ticket when their game has a real BUG. I am a professional in this industry - I know what a bug is. I can even give them a an excellent repro path. Unfortunately, the CSRs are more interested in closing tickets than acquiring information. This is not a good sign that they care about the stability of their product. I feel like every interaction I have with a CSR is like trying to reason with a spoiled, petulant child who does not care how the world operates, I just "owe" them my montly subscription. The bugs, the lag, the inability to maintain database records for player cities on server zone boundaries, the regular CTDs, constant nerf bats, misbalanced combat, complete removal of PVE GCW content are just frustrating - the CSRs push that well over the edge into infuriating.

I am choosing to play because I love Star Wars and do enjoy the game despite its issues. I am also excited about what JTL will be like. However, it is not worth the frustration surrounding the numerous bugs and imminent balance changes that will occur in the first few months. It is especially not worth it when I will have to interact with the CSRs to resolve the issues caused by the bugs in their system. I wish everyone good luck and pleasant hunting. I will most likely be back in the pilot's seat in a few months.

I would like to apologize to anyone who feels offended by these remarks, they are only my sentiments and as such are subject to a 0.01% chance of error (+/- 0.01%).
