Also think about this, you pay for a nice dinner, but it comes back partially cooked and has several cochroaches crawling on it. Would you rather try to enjoy it, or ask the waiter to throw this in the chefs face and serve you withwhat you paid for.

People just dont appreciate the work people put into games, I know, I make small games in a game maker program , alot like just simple programming though, and it is incredibaly hard just to set up basics, like making someone run, and dont even start about lame graphics, that is a whole differnt thing, its hard to animate roughley a 2D human, and yet you think they can just whip up a 3D freeform player creation?

Please, try the following.... Quit your job flipping burgers at McDonalds... get a goverment grant and student loans , and go to school for X amount of years to learn the basics of game development.... Attempt to launch a 100% perfect MMORPG as complex and intergrated as SWG/JTLS and then come back here and rant and rave about how much this product sucks....
NOTHING MAN MADE IS PERFECT
this is why airplanes still crash today...
this is why you have auto mechanics...
this is why you have constant updates to Microsoft Windows (ever notice that updater? its to patch things to make them better or fix other things...
this is why when you guy buy an xbox. PC , Television DvD player etc etc at a store they offer that extended warranty crap...
i have yet to see ever... A perfect Game or any other piece of Software be released...
EVERY game has bugs and/or aspects which could be improved upon...
YOUR 15 DOLLARS A MONTH is not going towards the PROMISE of a perfect game that is bug free, and has everything you ever imagined in it.....
And its only 15 dollars a month lol . some of you act like your paying alot of money to play this, when infact it comes down 50 CENTS A DAY!!!
you know what you can do with 50cents a day? you can buy a can of soda, make a payphone call or play SWG... hmmmmm sounds like a pretty damn good deal to me....
So please , if you dont enjoy it then dont play.... Imagine all your rants and raves from a developers perspective.... these people worked Very VERY HARD to bring you this game.... and no its not perfect... but ya know. its pretty damned fun... and it will be improved and added to....
These developers are not sitting around thinking how they are gonna screw you today tommorrow or the next day... they are not sitting around wishing they were doing something else... and they are not giving 50% effort to this project, from what ive seen in beta they are giving 120%...
So until you walk in their shoes........ Show a little respect

I am a professional developer and architect. You are correct that there is no "perfect game or any other piece of software". But it is absolutely ridiculous to suppose that poor quality should therefore be acceptable. If I am paying $15 a month I do expect quality, not perfection, but a base minimum quality. This is my money, my time, it does not come cheap and I will not throw it away. I have no doubt that these people have worked very hard to deliver the game, I also have no doubts that it was not ready for delivery on launch day. I do not have to imagine any of my ranting and raving from a "developer's perspective" or an "architect's perspective", I am one. I most certainly agree that any ranting and raving should be done in a "respectful" manner. I also agree that the SWG team did not release JTL to sabotage our lives or ruin our fun. I do not believe that the game was ready for launch. There were SIGNIFICANT balance changes in the last week of beta. One week is not enough time to perform adequate acceptance testing. At most you have enough time for 2 dev-qa-user cycles. To attempt to catch all balance issues in a complete redesign of ship components and masses in only a week is assinine. You want me to see this from a developer's perspective, I will give you a developer's perspective: they poured their hearts and souls into this product to have it half-#$%ed rushed thru testing so management could meet an arbitrary deadline imposed by marketing. This almost always results in what JTL is today - an unfinished product that the customer is supposed to continue to pay for continued development on so the team that failed in proper execution can finally deliver. Yes there will always be bugs, yes there will always be patches and updates, but it is my money and I am only interested in playing games that appeal to me because the bugs don't over-interfere with my gameplay. I happen to think that JTL will be alot of fun in about 6-8 more weeks of development. I am not paying for the priveledge of testing their product for them. I will return once it has stabilized.

I am tired of everyone saying "it's a MMO - they are always buggy". No - it's software, yes it will have bugs, but no - IT DOES NOT HAVE TO BE BUGGY. If a Honda Accord has an accident with a semi going 180mph - it will lose. This does not mean it is unsafe. If a 1970's VW Bug has an accident with a senior citizen pushing a grocery cart - it will lose. That is unsafe. I don't think it is unreasonable for people to expect the game to have a relative amount of stability. I do not work in the gaming industry. I work on business systems. We do not deliver products that have this level of instability. However, our software does financial analysis on millions and millions of dollars - if we make a mistake - it can cost millions and millions of dollars. If they make a mistake, people just rant and rave on the forums and might eventually close their accounts. I truthfully don't see this changing until more MMO's come out as stable as COH. Competition has a way of eliminating this kind of foolishness in ways that are impossible to exercise via a forum. In short, I think it is perfectly reasonable to rant about an unfinished product that you want to see finished. It is certainly healthier for the product than just having its customers leaving in droves.

So you think that just because everyone is ranting and raving and not being intellegint that you need to obey their whim?

That is called giving in.

All i have to say is "One person's Trash, is another Person's Treasure" The meening behind this is your sense of quality is based on your point of view. Saying this game sucks because its buggy is only going to get people who agree that its buggy to be on one side and those who think its what they enjoy on the other. I for one enjoy the game for what it is, I choose to pay the $15 dollars a month. Those who feel the opposite also choose to pay or not to pay their $15 bucks. If the game bothers anyone that bad then they really need to stop playing. Its not worth getting yourself worked up about a game. To use the persons food analogy, if the food came to you looking like that, you need not shove it into the chefs face. Meerly get up and leave the restaurant, would that not take less effort?

I love the work and effort put into this game, which is WHY I come here, and REPORT issues I observe. Your problem aside from a reading issue is that you precieve ANY feedback as whining, complaining and unproductive. If all of us went by your example wed have 4 times the bugs as no one would report anything due to not wanting to be a whinner.

I am dedicated to this game, you clearly are just a yes man, and comformist try to think for yourself and formulate an opinion for once.
