There is NO way they can force roleplaying in any MMORPG without making the game so restrictive hardly anyone will play it.
Its bad enough that they force PvP in the Master Pilot mission, stop trying to destroy this game further.
Who's trying to destroy the game? I'm using ironic commentary to make a point. Read my original post more carefully.
I'm not advocating something like that in a serious fashion. I'm trying to get the point across to the people that think there's no problem with forcing a playstyle on people to master a profession can cut both ways.
See man, it doesn't matter what you propose, they come whining everytime. This was a total joke post I know, but look at the responses. They didn't even bother reading it before they started jumping in about it...
BTW, /agree

I tried RPing an imperial this weekend in pvp on ground. I wore the imperial officers hat, and the black pilots uniform and only used a pistol. I was simply talking to another overt imperial in charecter when some jerkwad walked up to me and said "you know, people like you are easy targets". He was imperial and was demanding to duel me just so he could kill me. I think role playing should be a key aspect of getting jedi also, since the majority of jedi I have incountered all used l33t speek and called other people fags and gay. Its funny how the pinticle of the star wars universe is represented by a pasty 15 year old kid who calls people noobs and behaves like a buttface. Wasnt george lucas all weary about even letting jedi be in the game because he didnt want them ruined and done wrong? It appears the dollar sign is more important then his legacy, but this is all off topic.
if sony forces the PVP playstyle, they should also forcethe Role playingplaystyle.
How about this:
Juusman spots Palad making a run at the corvette in the Kessel zone.. swoopsdown on his A-Wing and vapourizes him in 2 shots..
**static** "Rogue leader this is Rogue 5.. all opposition has been eliminated.. repeat, all opposition has been eliminated.." *static*
I'm going to make a macro and hit that every time I kill a player.

Oh are we reversing roles? Then let me try, it would go more like this...
*juusman hyperspaces into kessel looking to complete the final master mission, but before his screen finishes loading Palad has camped the jump point and killed him in 2 shots*
Palad: "D00D JU SUK! LOL n00B!!!1!!!1!!1!1!ONE! SUTPID RP KAREBARE!!!"
*juusman goes back, and the exact same thing happens again*
Palad: "LOL! D00D U KNOT WEARING COMPIZOITE DUM N00B! BUCH U UNBUFEDD ALSO LOL!"

Here's the deal- right now, it's possible to become a Master Pilot in this game without having to demonstrate any role-playing skills at all. I think this needs to change. With that in mind, I'd like the Devs to implement a system that requires everyone who wants to become a Master Pilot to interact with another person as a role-player. That person has to be someone in Kessell at the time of the Master mission and that person (chosen at random) gets to decide if the person RP'd well enough to earn the title. If the other player doesn't think they did well enough, the mission is reset and you have to start over.
Hey, if we're gonna force a playstyle, let's force one of my favorites.
In all seriousness, I'm posting this based on a comment made by someone in another thread. It points out the silliness of trying to force a playstyle on someone who wants an in-game achievement.
Some people think that it's a good thing for Master Pilot to remain in an open PvP zone like Kessell because it makes the title rare and difficult to achieve. I say there's other ways to accomplish that goal. I don't understand why people think that there should be more respect accorded to someone who likes PvP than someone who doesn't. I don't have a lot of respect for someone who thinks the be-all and end-all of MMO gaming is PvP.
As far as respect goes, I get plenty in my real job and life. I don't come to SWG to get respect, I come here to have fun. If you don't think I'm doing enough to achieve my titles, you're cordially invited to go eat your heart out.I'm not interested in other people's definitions of what should be difficult or worthy of a title. This is a game, not a job, and I'm not interested in fighting with other players to achieve a title in-game that shouldn't have fighting with other players a requirement.
Personally, as I've said before, I'm looking forward to PvP in space, because I've been playing twitch-based flight games since 1985.But I'm not interested in fending off gankers while trying to accomplish a PvE mission.
So anyway- if you think that people should have to demonstrate a command of ALL the aspects of being a pilot character to be a Master Pilot, then /sign
**Bows to Jimer with a grin** I don't mind you stealing my thunder when it's done so well. hehehe
**Reads over the thread and sits down to a big, steaming plate of irony**

I am amazed that some people thought you were serious, perhaps there should be an essay portion to becoming an ace pilot as well or even a short story requirment.
Actually, there should be an essay/short story requirement for even getting an account in a game like this.

Speaking of playstyles, why are we forced to PvE to level up?
Its just the easiest to measure is all.
