It takes 90 minutes to complete some of these missions?! ARE YOU KIDDING ME?! That's ludicrous. I'm at 1/1/1/1. Certainly they should make this so achieving the ACE Pilot is something that can be done alone. I don't recall some of my professions requiring groups to achieve other than stuff like DOC to get healing XP, but you do all the healing on your own. This combat stuff seems pretty insane to have to start over if you fail right in the middle of such a long mission.

For the missions that have different legs in different zones, you do not have to do them all at one time. As long as you do not enter the zone which the next mission leg starts in, you can log off, log back on the next day and the mission will be just as it was when you logged off.

They are not supposed to. They promised this in Beta many times.

Mission 1 on Tier 3 for the Storm Trooper Squadon takes about 90 mins to do and you have to do it in a group. I must say that really upsets me. No mission should take this long to do and the chance of failure is so high, that if you do fail you probably wont want to do it again. Now whats pissing me off even more is that simple fact that I am finally 3-2-2-2 and got my cool Tie Interceptor, and I am dieing more now and faster now then I was when I had my Crappy Tie/In with the same parts.. W-T-F is going on with this game???? I use to be able to rip up B-wings in my old ship, now I am luck if I can beat one..

Lets put it out to be heard here people.. I REALLY hate missions where I have to group in order to advance my skills. I have NEVER done any of the major missions like the Corvette, or DWB because of how insanely hard it is. I dont find facing odds that one person cant beat FUN!!!!! I really cant stand it.

This game makes no sense.. When your Tier 1 you make no money and its hard to survive.. Once you get 2-2-1-1 you start to say HEY I can finally beat a few things. But by the time your 2-2-2-2 and you start tier 3 missions you are more weak then you were at 0-0-0-0.....

I am just not digging this whole group thing just to advance my levels. I am really not digging how you have to do missions in order to train.

The first thing that comes to my mind after reading your post is this. While I am a privateer and not an imperial, I have found through personal experience and talking with others that the first thing to upgrade when you hit a new tier should be your components line. This seems to be a common trend among those that have the least trouble with missions. I know the shiny new ship is nice, but always go functionality first if possible. The benefit from better components will help you faster than the new ship.

Also, I have to assume that flying a Tie is like flying my Kihraxz, so I'm going to post something that I have already posted in many threads. Try to keep from getting "tunnel vision" on the target in front of you. Evasive manuevers and hit and run tactics are a key to survival. If you tail one enemy and ignore the one moving in behind you, you're as good as dead.

I was in beta, and am aware of this, however they did not fulfill this promise. My TIE had 1.7k HP, after two deaths it was down to 1.2k. If you don't believe me, look at your HP, then go get killed once and check again. I think you'll be surprised here.

I have to agree with this. I understand the need to make group missions, if not people that do group will blow through them too easily. Is it really so impossible to have the mission difficultyrated by the number of people in the group? We have that option on the ground missions. Then people that want to group, or have that option readily available to them, will still have fun and have a challenge.

BTW, I did join a group to helpsomeone do their first Tier-3 Rebel mission-- yes, it was fun--yes, the mission was incredibly easy for us-- yes, it took about 40 minutes to get enough people to join the group. I know that wait is not a 'controllable game mechanic' but it is not fun in anyway to have to deal with that wait just to get one personto the half-way mark on advancement.

I'vetried my first Tier-3 Freelance mission about 6 times, and I have gotten further since I've gotten better weapons, and some chaff.. but the difference in trying these solo versus having a group is way out of balance. It gives a severe disadvantage to those (like me) that play on off-peak hours and those that are not in a PA.

There was only 2 missions I had trouble soloing, but there is a trick to beating every JTL mission solo. I knew that JTL was gonna be like this and people would post like this. Id tell tell everyone I beat every mission with a Tie Fighter but no one would believe me now would they :]

Sometimes I wander if people actually think space combat in SWG JTL is click & let it shoot depending on your skill level if you hit it or not.

I am currently Rebel 3333 and still in my Y-wing Long Probe. I wouldn't trade it for anything. I love it. As far as turning the Y you need to work the throttle alot. Power down to about 50% as you go into a turn you will notice an immense difference. If you really need to tighten up an turn power down to about 33% anything below 25% and you slow down too much and can't turn and anything above 75% and you are too fast.

Long Probes are tanks and great for grinding if you know how to fly them. But ultimately it boils down to personal preference.

Stranged the ship are not balanced out between factions.

What does the privateer get at tier 3 ? a ship more like teh X wing or more like the Interceptor ?

While I do agree with topic starter that the missions are way too long starting from 2-2-2-2, I do however disagree with the fact of the non-grouping stance.

The 1st tier 3 mission in Endor took me 90 minutes to complete, and consisted of 4 subparts. I rather have more individual missions, which are harder by themselves, but avoid failing the whole 90 minute battle cause you get creamed by a spawned Tier 4 pirate just when docking with the dropoff ship....

But:

No higher-level content should be solo-able. Take a look at the ground game. How stupid is it that people can solo a Krayt, or a Rancor? Its messed up badly enough on the ground already. This is a MMORPG , where one of the M's stands for Multiplayer.

Besides that, it is sooooooooo much cooler flying with a couple of wingmates. If you are soloing only, you are missing out on some really cool gametime.

Go get your friends and have fun, dont stare yourself blind on soloing and mastering everything as quickly as possible. Because that is always the main idea of solo-only players.

Great job on the devs implementing the need for old-skool grouping again.

this is to sharkboy, come back after you've flown an X-Wing m8. Dunno if you ever tried running 3 weapons from one capacitor but the fall in its energy goes QUICKLY. I used to use 2 blasters around 2400 max damage that whacked off to 24.0 per gun for everytime it fired....even with a capacitor of like 1000 and a recharge rate of 37.7 I used to get stuck on the bigger ships because i would use my capacitor on kickin' their butts early on but when i got hounded i couldnt shoot or even give the shield jump start to a friend either. It was only at the time i was actually using 16.0 energy for each of my guns and around 2586 max damage that i can start dealing out of the big buns.

The Tie Interceptor sounds alot like the A-Wing, the a-wing has about 60-65k Mass and theres no way in hell i can fit my X-Wing gear in there thats for sure so i do feel for ya on that one but you gotta weigh up the pro's and con's on your ships. I'm assuming because of the Interceptors lack of mass its fairly maneouverable or however its spelt....just like the A-Wing.
