Nobody forces you to become a Master Pilot. I think the ultimate test for a Master Pilot should also be the competition between players and not the dumb AI,soleave the missionit in Kessel.

True but that's not what is being talked about. We are talking about being forced to PvP when we take the master pilot mission. But thanks for the same old tired excuse that has nothing to do with the topic at hand.

I thinkkeeping the mission in Kessel also encourages the community building between pilots. You need buddies and wingmen to complete this and the vette, and more interaction between players is good for the game. Also the griefers-gankers can be branded as well know pirates and murderersand can in turn be banned from shops, cities etc....

JTL is a twitch based game and if you shun the test against another player then you dont deserve Master Pilot in the same way that those jedi who held "fight clubs" dont deserve to become Jedi Masters.

You already HAVE to group to do this mission regardless of the PvP, the swarms of Tier 5s will shread solo mission takers, and it would take a very long time to pull singles to solo, so this is already taken care of. The same mobs in Dathomir would result in grouping unless you took 10 mins to hunt and kill each single. I've tried that it would take hours to finish the mission of kill 30 TIEs, and forgot the Vette that is impossible, heck even the gunboats are next to impossible and that's single gunboat vs single fighter.

your reasoning sounds all to familar to the GRIEFERS ive run into..... no one forces you to gank some people engaged on a corvette do they? in fact what the GRIEFERS are realy afraid of is that if the master mission is removed from kessel, then they might actually have to fight others that are there for pvp , OMG that would be horrible... no more ganking people that dont wanna fight you....

in fact you dont sound like you want pvp at all... because if you did then you could see that ganking people that want nothing to do with pvp, isnt pvp..

I'm all for PvP, I PvP'd some today and am about to leave for Kessel sans mission for some fun.
But I played the early years of UO more than most who will read this and I remember that you could "master" any skill in the "relative" (had to keep magic reflect up) safety of your house before entering any kind of PvP. Also, if Mastering a skill requiring PvP "where your char has to defeat a player(s) of higher level to gain a level" is such a great idea lets apply it to EVERY skill in this game not just pilot, how about Jedi, BH, Fencer, CH (that would be funny battle bunnies), Dancers could mud wrestle, Artisans could throw tools at each other!

And UO lost so many players and had only one month subscribers because of the gangs of PvPers that they almost went out of business, so the devs changed it made the shard world and subscribers doulbed in 4 months after that. Every time PvP is added to something in an MMO you'll hear complaints about the PvP, but few out of the blue ask for PvP to be incorperated to an already exsisting system and none on SWG pre-JTL not one thread for one profession in 32 profession advocated pre-JTL to add PvP in order to master it.

You would have never thought of PvP for ALL profession if SOE hadn't done this.

I am a solo player mostly and have gone to Kessel several nights over the past week and made it to as low as 10 Ties to go and below 15 several times. As a neutral pilot I am shot at by EVERYTHING (Rebs, Neuts, Imps, PCs, NPCs)in the sector HELLO. I should get freaking Double Master by the time I finish. Some people I've met in Kessel didn't know that neutrals don't/can't declare imp or reb when they enter.

I would also like to say I have spent up to an hour flying around Kessel without a single Tie in sight outside of a huge Tie Cloud of Death (whats up with that)

Also, as a Hutt pilot should I not be allowed to choose which side I want to assist in Kessel? If I could have done Reb ships I would have made it by now

Forcing folks to PvP is ok with you but Neuts must get a choice as to how they fight, HAHA hey if I have to PvP which I hate I have to give up my rpinciples to fly the supid MP ships, then you suffer with EVERYONE shooting at you. quit crying and deal with it the devs obviously did it for a reason.

Doesn't feel to good to be on the long end of the screw you stick does it?

I move that those wishing to "master" have a mission outside of Kessel.

And those who wish to "ace" do the mission in Kessel.

That's two pilot classes.

If PvP were not just a matter of getting in that first shot at great distance, I might not even mind this much.

As it stands, I find the forced PvP condition to be insulting. I have no desire to play in the sandbox of the largest collection of trash talking, poor sports in the game. They soiled their own bed- they can live in it.

..But not me.

there should be more forced pvp. ppl complain about the GCW being pretty much non-existant, imagine what it would be like if everybody that was faction aligned was perma overt. rebels and imperials would have reason to not mix with eachother and stay in places like anchorhead and rarely go to theed. we'd have an all out war. they should make a few servers specifically for this.
