Thread: Here's my take on JTL

First off to the PVP'ers - I have no problem you guys having the kessel area and master pilot - if you guys are good
enough with a joystick, then well, you deserve level 10 equipment and the master ships. However, I'm not that great
with space flying games and all I really wanted was a YT-1300 to roleplay with. But everyone claims this stuff
to be so easy. Tier 4 is insane and the circle jousting is the most pathetic AI system I've ever seen coded in any game.
I performed an experiment tonight. I chose a tier 4 duty mission against tier 4 advanced tie fighters. I flew an ixiyen with
level 6-7 parts with a 92.2 top speed engine and 1500-2000+ weapons. I got to the mission and chose one tie fighter to
attack. Then the jousting started so I took note of a particular asteroid and the area around it as a focus point. Then flew
in circles with the Tie, I counted at least 300 times it flew in complete circles. Good AI? I think not. Challenging? Nope
Just overly annoying. Here's my take. You guys say get a group. Well, that's all fine and good, I have 5 people in my little
roleplaying guild, all of which aren't really that great with a joystick or flying. No big deal right just find other people to group
with. Well, I play on corbantis and well, the people are corbantis seem to be very VERY self-serving. Meaning, finding a group
is like looting a Legendary T21, especially if you're a roleplayer and don't belong to one of those 'Leet speak' uber super
joystick cowboy guilds who all have master ace pilots now and think that JTL is too easy. All I wanted was the YT1300
to use as a prop for my roleplay. I didn't want master pilot, no special flightsuit or helment. No special PVP bonus uber level
gazillion weapons, just a YT to fly and decorate and roleplay a smuggler with my OWN stories, not the silly little missions that
are given to you by the trainer. I've already got so frustrated with the difficulty level on these missions that I snapped my joystick in
half and threwthe pieces across the room.
Now my question is should I just quit? I've played this game for almost a year now and I'm a huge star wars fan. But I'm not
some uber super pilot like most people seem to be. Should I be left out because of that? Should the mulitplayer ships only be
content for people that are really really good at flying a ship? Or is it acceptable to ask that the multiplayer ships be certed at a lower
pilot level? I have friends and i do group, but really none of us are good enough to get the whole way to master. Any opinions?
I really think that adding a Freighter without turrents would be a good idea for the "washout" pilots... no offence to anyone with out twitch skills mind you... maybe make a lower teired YT-1300 (or any other Corellian ship) without the ability to place turrents... which is also somewhat like flying around in the SoroSubb Yacht...
I also want to point out to all of you whomdislikethe flight mechanics, Sony announced and stated VERY clearly that this expansion was based on real time combat and not the turn based combat that is on the ground and that a degree of twitch skill on the part of the player is needed...
Yes... the AI is pathetic in every sense, I agree 100%... the NPC ships use no tactics and every type of NPCfly inthe same patternsfrom the Droid Junkers to the Teir 5 Tie fighters...

Where did you get 92.2 engines!? the fastest I have got was a 62.2. and its level 4, no shipwrights on my server make fast engines, or at least lvl6-7 ones.
Theres a quest reward engine that does 91-92 top speed. Other then that look for looted engines, much much better then crafted, I looted a 96 top speed last night
Yeah, it's a reward for the final Tier 3 mission. BTW, why has to be after Tuesday?

as to the "jousting" problem...you can break that pattern, just need to get behind your opponent...
what i do is cut engines and begin my turn before the joust is complete, then max out engines and apply boosters while maneuvering(sp?? *shrug*). its kinda tricky, but after a couple passes the "joust" turns into a circle....then its disable and destroy. (im using a TIE/interceptor by the way)
Yep i do that also, but we shouldn't have to should we really? there just shouldn't be an half-arsed AI in the first place. Also the problem is you break it on one ship, but watch the other 7 or 8, they still continue to joust. For example, here's what really peed me off last night. Doing Tier 4 Mission 1 Reb, I get to the WP where i meet up with 4X-Wings and 1 A-Wing, infront is 10 Imp ships, Interceptors and Aggressors, I and the NPC reb ships engage, the NPC Reb ships stop still in space, i have all 10 imp ships on me they never go near the Reb NPC ones, i press [ to disable as it's quicker than trying to destroy each one in turn, can blow em up later when they are all disabled, anyway, [ never sticks, every 2 seconds it switches off, then while trying to disable 1 the other 9 joust, also aggressors are able to shoot their rear turret through their own wingswhilst flying sidewaysand we know those gits don't miss, however i triumphed in the end with no shields left and almost no armour, only to have to go through the whole thing again, i almost did it again, but alas it wasn't to be. If it wasn't for the jousting, the [ button constantly switching off, NPC turrets that NEVER miss, that mission would have been challenging and enjoyable, meaning it would be FUN!! ,at the moment it's none of those things to me, it's like the ground game, a mind numbing grind mixed with plenty of frustration.
