No, you're just used to the PvP in the ground game that lasts about 45minutes to kill someone because everyone and their mother has Doctor 4040. PvP is alot better when it's fast pased, keeps you on the edge and gets you to come back for more. What good is it if you go ino kessel, take 10 direct hits from a TIE pull of a maneuver and end up having to fire at him for about 30minutes to kill him. In PvE this is tolerable, in PvP it's not.

True.. but the larger ships should be able to take a pounding.. look how many hits the Falcon took in countless chase scenes. I like fast paced PvP, but the devs have to fix MP ships going down so fast.

Who says it would take 30 mins to kill a tie with a system that would allow dogfights to last alittle longer? Then again, whoever has taken 30 mins to kill a tie in PvE? People here are talking about maybe 2 mins, hell, I'd settle for30 second dogfights over the current few seconds the ones today last.

Like its been suggested before, half the damage/ or down to 25% damage, worst case scenario you might have to actually "dogfight" rather than a5 second joust.

What the hell do YOU call dogfighting then? Dogfighting isnt about taking punishment, its about being totally aware of your surroundings and manuvering. You cant just fly along blind and then expect to survive when someone gets the jump on you, you have to KNOW hes coming.

Well GadonThek, you you may have an ample argument for 1 on 1 combat but Im referring to more large scale battles, say maybe 20 ships. Its chaotic and you need time to defend yourself while your yourself are going after a target, two laser shots from behind get your attention real quick and allow you to maneuver and try a few things instead of just being blown out of the sky...space....void...endless vacuum....

There's a reason why I called the current system a "joust", you can be "totally aware of your surroundings and maneuvering" all you like but that doesn't mean much when most of the fights end in head on frantic firing playing chicken to see who blows up first.

I dont see why alot of "aces" want combat to be so quick, even dogfights in WW2 lasted longer than they do in JTL. Its a game after all, and people should be able to enjoy PVP dogfights longer than 5 seconds is all I'm saying. Is having a average dogfight lasting longer than a few seconds so much to ask? I myself would like my opponent to last a little longer and at least have adequate time to defend themselves.

Theres the problem right there, you suck.

PvP in space is PERFECT do not change it at all. You'd only be ruining the fun factor. Uber Shields and Armor shouldn't mean so much as crap in PvP, use your mass on other things such as Capacitors, Engines, Weapons, Low Level Ordenance, and Droid Interface. DONT waste it on Shields/Armor, you'd only be hurting yourself.

As it is now, Tier2 pilots can take on Tier4 Pilots.........it brings variety to Space Combat in PvP areas by allowing everyone to use every type of ship in PvP areas. All you will be doing is making space combat similar to ground combat....useless. Just hone up on your own personal skill, and take your loss as a lesson.

Do NOT change PvP in space, it's just right.

Actually, I dont suck. This was the 1st time I tried out PvP, before I even got a chance to accelerate he managed to shoot me from behind, and killing multi-passanger ships and things like tie bombers in ONE hit isnt right, so dont go around saying "you suck" because 1-2 shots to kill anything isnt right. atleast 7-10 shots it SHOULD be.

The only thing that I would ask devs to change in pvp that would be a balancing factor in pvp would be the 3rd and 1st person views. I come into this from a online flight sim called Aces High. You go against superior guns and planes all the time, but the balancing factor is the fact that every player plays from 1st person perspective and from a cockpit view.

I feel that bringing this into pvp into jtl would bring the same balencing effect. The speed and agility of the A-wing, for example, could be brought to bare if everyone was playing in 1st person cockpit view without the benefit of a 3rd person perspective of where the target was vectored and rolling outside of the ship. To me this is and unrealistic and unfair advantage.

ahahahaaa

i love it....every single thread on the subject has these people flooding to it saying "j00 R pwnD, LEARN to play with skill in fps N00bz".

jump into a game of BF1942, XvT, hell, even rogue squadron and ace combat 5. in every single flight sim, flight arcade game, even flight piece-o-crap, it takes more than one hit.

you found me loading in kessel...j00 pwnzorz. now jump into BF1942 where it takes skill to actually kill someone by maintaining your sight on him for more than one shot.

sad thing is, i KNOW most of these people dont play fps much it seems, because if they did, they would actually step back for a second and realize, while it may be fun for them for a bit, its damaging for the game as a whole. i know they dont play FPS flight games because they would know 1 hit kills are NOT positive gameplay issues

yes, its supposed to be intense, it always is in BF1942, but dont let this turn into the ground game like it was months ago, with rifleman one shotting me.

1 hit kills= NOT intense

3-10 hits kills= SKILL

I just wish someone would accept my challenges to duel. I've sent out 10-15 now, and no one will accept. And I'm in a (modified) Syck 1/2 the time. So unfortunately, I dont even know yet. WAY too many space carbears on my server.

Well, aces high is every bit as intense as bf1942.....and I dont believe I used the termspwnD or N00bzin the reply I put in Rahzael. Infact, I would be surprised if a quarter of the players here new are cared about angle of attack, lead or lag pursuit, wingman tactics or even about about stay on some ones six.

I agree with you, what fun is it to one shot someone..the fun is in the dog fight.....but also....how the hell can you evade when your opponent is on your six and is in third person view...and you can't even get a six view to see what he's doing.

We all need to be in first person view and the weapons need to be revamped.

And once again Rahzael....I dont care about pwnd Noobz are what ever you call them....I don't use those terms

pvp is really lame in space right now, i was really looking forward to it but its basically first shot wins and that isnt fun, even if im the one winning. ive actually had ppl accuse me of cheating (that have never pvp'd in space befor obviously) because its that rediculous. there should be something like a 75% damage reduction in pvp. im not sure how the multipassenger ships are in pvp but if they die as easy as starfighters... W.T.F.

Part of that has to do also with the fact that your ship chassis and components take decay from PvP too. Not much point in a 10 millisecond duel.

I had a Tier 3/3/3/3 Dunelizard shooting me to annoy me in Tattoine yesterday, i was in a Ixiyen. I slowly turned toward him without accellerating. typed /duel and placed my thumb over the trigger. As soon as he accepted I pulled the trigger and he exploded.. one shot... no manuvering... gave him ample opportunity to manuver or whatever over in less time it takes to blink.

I agree with the damage changes that are needed for PvP. Also, I strongly believe that we need all chassis and component decay removed from PvP damage and deaths, certainly when we take damage as fast as we do in PvP right now. Entering Kessel and Deep Space to PvP right now is a game for the wealthy, because as soon as most people have had a few go-arounds at PvP, they will realize that it is very costly, and even worse when your nice looted components and Reverse Engineered components are decaying after you've had the immense joy of someone killing you in 1 or 2 shots, you'llbe very turned off from those PvP zones, and that's a shame because they have a lot of potential.

Please devs, look into these changes before a lot of people lose interest. There are already quite a few aces that don't have much to look forward to besides the fun that deep space and kessel could be if the above changes aren't considered.
